We had a cold and lazy weekend.
We got all things on our list completed on Saturday.
We even picked up the tile and shower door order. Now we need to find an installer for the new door. Rick doesn't wish to tackle this one.
Everything but our master shower has been completed. And been completed for some time. New vanity, jetted tub deck, new lights, new flooring, new toilet, new vanity and vanity top, and sinks etc. Everything is new but the shower. Every time we think we could do it, a car would break down, business was a bit slower or some such thing. So we ordered everything Saturday. Rick gets a contractors discount of 25% so that helps. Now it will take him a year to finish. Just joking, come winter and it will begin. We will be in our slower time then.
Sunday was just downright lazy.
I was barely dressed most of the day. Because I am short buying PJ's are ridiculous. The last one I had to cut 10 inches off the bottom and then hem. I hate sewing and hemming everything. So Saturday when we were at Walmart I saw these pj's that had elastic around the ankles similar to the sleeves of a sweater. Know what I mean? I thought, cool, no hemming, just all the fabric gathering at my ankles. I didn't care what they looked like. I just like the comfy at night watching TV or doing things around the house. I don't sleep in clothes so this looked perfect to me.
I held these up and they didn't look all that long so I threw them in the cart. I got home and tried them on. Ooh, baby that was the trick. They would be very short on a tall person or even a person of average height I think. These are perfect for me! I have never purchased any clothing at Walmart but pj's are perfect. Fuzzy warm for the upcoming winter.
So I wore these babies all day.
I made breakfast and did dishes. I made stew and let it simmer.
Then total lazy ass day.
Rick and I settled in and he asked if I wanted to watch something on Netflix. We have watched 1/2 of the new season of Stranger Things but neither of us felt like finishing it just yet.
I suggested he pick since I normally do and that isn't fair.
note: I hate what he picks because I do not care for violent movies or they are just so weird and this pick was typical Rick different.
So Rick picked this show of an English comedian I had never heard of and neither did he. We didn't know he was a comedian until after we watched this show you see. His name was Jack Whitehall. We gathered from the show he was an actor but we were not aware of him.
I believe mainly in the Britain, but I could be wrong.
The movie is 'Travels with my Father.'
His father, Michael, a very stiff English man with what seemed to be very little sense of humor.
A bit of what my sister calls, a stick up his butt kind of guy.
Since I am not English the father is always what I see in my mind's eye of a person of that generation from that country.
But that is where the humor is in this adventure.
Jack is nothing like his father, in manner or dress.
On IMBD it states: Follows Jack Whitehall as he embarks on the trip of a lifetime with his father, Michael. The two set off on a journey across South East Asia to partake in a series of adventures, mishaps, and escapes with two very different perspectives.
We watched quite a few episodes, I believe half. Then Rick discovered while I went to the bathroom that Jack was a comedian and he had a new standup show on Netflix which we watched immediately after. When I came back into the room he was now starting up Jack Whitehall: At Large. I assumed it was filmed in the UK because there were a few references that I just did not understand. Along with some words as well. We speak English but not the same English. And I must say I love when he did an American accent. Reminded me of my old boss from Ireland. He sounded the same when doing his American accent. Voice gets deeper and it's just funny, but good. Seriously couldn't do his accent at all. So I shouldn't laugh.
After that was over we laughed that we have been sitting for so damn long and it was getting dark. We don't do that often so it was kind of fun. It felt like we did something bad you know? Made the day even more enjoyable that we felt like we got away with something.
Have any of you heard of Jack Whitehall? Well those in the UK probably have I suppose but any others out there?
I thought he was funny and cute. I also thought he was gay. But then in the stand-up act, he spoke of his girlfriend Gemma. Either way is fine with me, he's cute, a bit skinny but cute and he's funny. As we were watching his shows I mentioned a couple of times that I thought he was cute. Rick suggested I bring him home and fatten him up. My God, that made me laugh out loud. But oh so true. I was not looking at him like ooh baby baby, but more like he needs a good homecooked meal and I need to feed him. My God, I'm old....Pathetic as well aren't I?
But just so you know if it were Gerard Butler, it would be more than food.
Just sayin'.....not that old yet.

She Shed
Okay, enough about me and my damn pix.
I am not elusive Mike! I just hate seeing myself in photos!!
I am not fishing for compliments.
In fact, I was just told by Rick that if I don't start letting him and family members take my picture then no one will have one of me after I'm gone.
Geez, he's learned a lot of Italian Guilt from my family, hasn't he?
Normally it's me who is taking all the photos.
But apparently, he thinks I need to stop this and allow my picture to be taken.
God, I will try, but this one isn't easy for me people.
I'm an old broad, hard to change but I will try I told him. I will really try.
Doesn't mean you are going to see a ton of them but I will try with you all too.
Even my FB doesn't have but a couple pix of me.
One without makeup, that is huge for me.
I guess this means I could not be of the millennial generation because I would never take selfies.
I would never constantly have my phone in my hand posing.
I can't see myself doing this as a teen either.
I have always hated my pictures.
Now enough about that!
In Other News....
There is a commercial on and the woman talks about her SHE SHED.
I wish I could remember what she is selling. I just love the concept, like a man cave, but a she shack. Where no shoes or bras are allowed. Most importantly no bras. My God I want one.
Then I saw this.
Yes, I want one. In fact, I need one!
Only replace table and chairs with big comfy down like chairs and sofas.
You know the kind that wraps around you and makes you feel small.
Same rules must apply, no boys, no bras, no shoes, only comfy clothes like ugly sweats and absofrigginlutely no phones of any kind. The only technology allowed would be smart TV and fridge for food. And of course to chill the Rosé in warmer months.
Sounds nice, doesn't it?
Oooh, I already know how it would be decorated. Flowers, a door to keep out the cold, scented candles and big warm & soft throws to wrap up in.
I need to get my man on this stat. I need this in my life.
My dog is a girl so she can come in for a visit or a stay.
Yep, that is on my wishlist for Xmas. My She Shed.
Do they have this in a catalog somewhere? I bet they would sell out so quickly. Especially to all the women who work with their spouses as I do.
Yesterday was so bad of a day I wanted to hurt him.
You see the big dufus I'm married to and work with made a huge mistake and it made my day miserable.
Caused me hours of extra work and grief.
It makes matters far worse when I can't go home and talk/vent to him after hours about the asshole at work because it was him. I just hate when that happens.

Divorce Season
Remember 4 years ago when I was going to my Step Daughters Wedding?
Ah, the memories. Like never eating so the dress would fit. Yep, fun stuff.
Now it's a divorce.
We were looking at some of the photos. I liked this one but it's so blurry.
I still hate seeing my photos, old, chubby, Ick!
This is before I let some gray around my face show. I think I like the gray now that I see this. Jury still out though.

This is before I let some gray around my face show. I think I like the gray now that I see this. Jury still out though.
A good time was had by all and now it's over. It is all so damn sad.
I know that she normally has Thanksgiving with her mom but thought I'd reach out to see if she was interested in coming here. Her soon to be ex-husband and his children all live near her mom so it was easy to do it with her. Besides, she and her mom are tight and she and her dad are much less so.
I hate seeing marriages fail. Some I certainly don't get why they were married in the first place. But not theirs. This one surprised me.
I really thought Rick's daughter's marriage would prevail but things changed and I guess this is the point of no return. The stories have gotten worse and I just hope they can come out of this not bleeding.
I have a friend currently going through an ugly divorce.
She and I met in 1987 in Cleveland Ohio. I just moved there for my job.
She had moved there 6 months before me from San Francisco.
She was dating someone in San Francisco who could also fly free so he would fly out on weekends or she would fly to San Fran. I met him many times and we did fun things together but I sure couldn't see them being married. Not even on the same page. To me he was awful and I didn't get it. When I say awful, I don't mean a bad man. But he thought entirely different from her so to me this was glaringly obvious that he was not right for her or vice versa.
The day she was leaving Cleveland I stopped by her apartment to say good-bye.
She left the room and he said to me, I don't want to get married.
(I believe I have shared that here before)
He told me this a 2nd time emphatically.
I told him to tell her not me. To me, he owed her the truth.
She came downstairs and I wanted to whisk her away to tell her what he had said. But I never could.
They got married on the trip from Cleveland to Virginia where he was transferred. (yep they moved here where I am now)
Over the years we'd hear her say how cheap he was, how he didn't want kids ever, how he was disrespectful, his political radical views and on and on.
All true, but they were there when I met him too. He said the same damn things to Rick, he didn't want kids, he wanted more sex, she was a horrible homemaker. (he would not lift a finger) he wanted her to get a job and she didn't want to work. Again, all true, true, true.
So guess who got pregnant? Twice. Idiot.
It only magnified their issues over the years. Sadly their boys saw all the yelling and screaming and too many times she involved them.
Now the kids are gone, and it only got worse. Cheating, name calling and all the things they have been talking about since they met are still the same things they are bitching about. It didn't get better, only worse, far worse. They did this all in front of anyone. Invited to a BBQ by them would turn into a very ugly event. We stopped going to their home until he left the home. I couldn't take it. I just hate watching people be so mean to one another.
Now the divorce is in full swing and it is getting ugly. He claims she has never worked outside the home since shortly after they met. All true but to him, that means she gets nothing. He wants the house (it's falling down around them so I think she should let it go she can't afford to fix it) He doesn't want to give her any money at all. Again, same thing as from day 1.
I don't have a good feeling about this at all. She lives in their home.
He lives in the apartment above their garage. Weird huh?
I was there a week ago and he stopped by. You could cut the tension with a knife. The thing that saved us all was her mother and brother were there visiting from out of town so no ugliness was said or done. I would have walked out if it had but thankfully it wasn't necessary. I am glad because that meant I could stay and finish my glass of wine. 😋 (c'mon I'm joking)
She sincerely believes she will get all she is asking for. Then she is moving to another state to care for her mom. I have a very bad feeling this is not going to go as she plans and I worry about her. But all I can do is be here for a safe place to fall.
I told Rick he could leave me, but I'm going with him.

The Elderly
You can call my husband any name in the book.
Nothing bothers him. But for some reason when these kids stated online that they should ask the elderly gentleman with the brown dog if he saw the dog that was missing because he was there.
That description of him made him go ballistic.
Now, this was months ago. He will still mumble this in utter disgust as he did last night. Rick and I were out taking a stroll with our dog. It was a perfect fall evening. We had a light dinner and then headed out for a walk.
We made our way to the park area where kids hang out. There is a path in the woods there that we have followed and found a bunch of logs set up around what looks like a firepit.
(Not the smartest thing to do in the woods)
There is always a bunch of litter and pot paraphernalia. As we walked back onto the path last night commenting on the great smell of fall leaves and trees we see these kids running.
I assumed because they were probably doing something they felt they shouldn't be doing. Then we hear another kid about 14 years old yell, no big deal just that elderly man and his dog. Hey, what about me? I'm standing right next to him? I said to Rick, "guess I'm not as old as you buddy" I'm cracking up.
Rick looked at me and said, "Damn it I don't even have any gray hair yet why are they calling me elderly?" The fact that these kids were running further into the woods away from us didn't concern him at all. It was the fact that they think he is an old fart. This is what pisses him off and makes me laugh.
I explained that to them you could be their grandpa so of course, you are elderly to them.
Rick says that my father is elderly not him.
Okay, big man, let me stroke your ego.
We turned around and left the path allowing the kids to continue smoking pot or whatever it was they were doing back there.
All the way home he mumbled and grumbled about being elderly.
As we came around a corner towards home, Rick's foot hit the sidewalk that was lifted up from a tree root. His foot caught it perfectly making him stumble. I grabbed his arm and said, "C'mon you old fart let me help you walk home"
Of course, I am laughing like crazy he was just mumbling.
I told Rick that all this mumbling is what an elderly person would do.
Yea, I was cracking myself up. He then says loudly with great enunciation, "I AM NOT THAT OLD, I CAN WALK HOME WITHOUT YOU SO LET GO OF MY ARM AND DAMN IT I AM NOT ELDERLY YET."
He too is now laughing as we 3 walked home.
When we got inside I saw an email telling me that one of our favorite comedians is going to be in town next Saturday. I read this out loud.
Rick said, "let's go that would be fun"
I replied, "Ooh, It starts at 10p"
mumble mumble mumble....
I ask, "too late for the elderly?"
Big sigh from Rick, "Damn it! It is."

Damn Commericals
We have an election here in November.
I can not wait for it to be over.
My goodness, I despise the political commercials!
And don't get me started on all the knocks on my door.
The other day I told the young man I did indeed know the person he was representing. I also said I get his transportation updates via email. However, I will not be voting for him or anyone associated with this embarrassment of a leader in the free world. He nodded and said, Yes that's what I am hearing. I said, Good and shut my door.
I avoid the news when I can but I can't get away from it all.
Yesterday as I was listening to music a banner came across my screen to tell me there had been another mass shooting.
Apparently, this man who has a right to have a gun and shoot up people did just that at his former workplace.
He killed 3 people who apparently pissed him off at his job at the business center and injured several more.
He has the right though to have a gun and use it.
We don't have the right to feel safe at work though.
I think it's a good thing I work alone.
I can not wait for it to be over.

Uphill both ways!
We have all heard the stories of our parents having to walk uphill both ways in the snow, haven't we?
My father used to tell me about how they put newspaper in his shoes when there were holes. He was the baby so he got hand me downs and they were never in good shape as his stories would go. I remember in the very late 60's or very early 70's buying a pair of overalls. I wore them skiing and I got it caught on the chairlift and they ripped. I loved the holes. My father had a fit that I would wear clothes with holes. He would scream that he works hard to give us no holey clothes so he had a fit when I wore them in public. He would tell me how he had to wear clothes with holes and he hated it. He was made fun of etc. Why would I ever want to dress like this he would ask me. I tried to explain this was not about money, but fashion. He couldn't wrap his head around that idea.
Now back in my day you little whippersnappers I was not allowed to wear pants to school let alone jeans. So these were just a cool pair of overalls I wore with a tank top or a Tshirt thinking I was cool. I have pictures to prove this ugly look. My husband thinks I look hot. I find that hysterical. Trust me it was not hot on any level. I was 16 for Pete's sake but I think he was just looking at my boobs again and not the whole outfit. Or as he'd say, "what? you were wearing pants?"
I loved to wear these overalls skiing because you could really layer a ton of clothes under them. They had big baggy legs and I used to get them at the Army-Navy store. Remember those? For some reason, this was cool in 1972. When my father saw me taking these overalls with me to school he had the idea that I was changing somewhere and wearing this to class. Oh no, not on his watch!
I explained that we couldn't wear pants this was for after school when the ski club went skiing. This was such an argument. I mean really Dad if I were sneaking would I have let you see them so openly?
Oh, I was not that dumb.
Finally, my mom had to explain to him that I was taking them to wear skiing and she was certain of it. I had long johns that were to be worn underneath and I showed him that they were coming with me too.
He conceded and let me leave with them. I find this so silly. He was so worried about me wearing torn overalls to school. In the big scheme of things, he should have been more worried about my pot smoking and going to class than how I was dressed. I wasn't showing anything. I was completely covered up. But my father had some really screwy ideas.
For example, as my jeans and overalls got more holes he insisted my mother sew them. Oh, I didn't want them sewn. I begged her not to. I pleaded my case. I wanted the holes and the rips. She came up with the idea to put fabric behind the holes if I was insistent that they not be sewn. So instead of a hole where you could see my thigh, there would be fabric sewn in the back of the hole. You now would see the fabric and heaven forbid not skin. The hole was still frayed and that is what I thought was cool at age 16. So I asked if I could pick out the fabric. I did all kinds of fun 70's things. I had a bandana that was the American flag that I used to wear around my neck and she used that. In today's political climate that would get me all kinds of trouble but back then it was everywhere on clothes.
Then others began "filling" their holes with bandanas and fabrics and was now a hit at my school. So my father made me look cool after all. Not what he set out to do. As long as I was covered up he was happy. If I had worn a burka he would have been happy. Or in my father's world, a nun's habit would have made him hysterically happy. Oh, my you have no idea. If my sister Jennifer is reading this she is nodding her head. My dad's dream was that one of his 5 daughters be a nun or all of us really. All of us left the church and went another direction. Thankfully he has no memory of this now.
This meme made me think of my dad today.

Movie Weekend
At our home of late, we have watched some really bad movies.
We have been seeing Dustin Hoffman, Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller making their rounds hyping this movie.
I was actually looking forward to this movie because I like all 3 of these men. It was to begin streaming on Netflix this past Friday.
I knew it was a drama, not a comedy. I have liked Adam in dramas like Spanglish so I thought this had promise.
The movie is called The Meyerowitz Stories. Maybe we weren't in the right frame of mind. Maybe we would find it better after a 2nd viewing.
But our first viewing was a real big fat stinker.
Neither of us liked it. Rick would tell you he thought it was so awful he had to get up and leave. He certainly did. He made a big proclamation about how terrible he thought this was and walked outside to his garage.
(yes, I did say HIS garage where is doing some woodwork)
I continued because for me it was a like a car accident. I know I shouldn't look but I couldn't stop looking. It didn't get better and I surely didn't think highly of myself either for sitting through this garbage. What a huge waste of my time. Now you may love it. I was the only person in the world who thought the Royal Tannebaums was lousy. It won awards and I still have a hard time wrapping my head around that.
So save yourself the time and don't bother. The only good thing is I didn't have to get all dressed up and go to the theatre to be disappointed. I was wearing a sweatshirt and a very old pair of sweatpants with holes in them. So that was the only positive note on that movie. Oh and the junior mints. Rick had me fetch him some allergy medication at Walgreens and next to the counter they had all this movie theatre boxed candy. So I got him some Dots and myself some junior mints which were stale. Did that stop me from eating them? Oh hell no, they were still covered in chocolate and I always eat my chocolate.
My boyfriend, Gerry Butler, is in a new movie. But it doesn't look to be my cup of tea. But then again 2 other men who I always enjoy are in it as well, Andy Garcia and Ed Harris, who is great in everything.
It's called Geostorm. Who knows it may be great. After that movie with Dustin Hoffman, anything would be easier to sit through I'm sure. Besides I just stare and drool over Gerry so I may not even need to worry about dialogue and a pesky storyline come to think of it. right?😉
We have been seeing Dustin Hoffman, Adam Sandler and Ben Stiller making their rounds hyping this movie.

Week Ending Memes because I'm not here Friday.
Sometimes when I stand on the stool to fetch something I look around because it is so different up there. "up there" = Rick's height.
My sister was a good cook but everyone for some reason assumed she wasn't. They would ask her to bring paper cups like below. She would laugh and say, this is why you get stuck doing this all this shit Peg.
I can see a man having this in their bathroom
My sister in law sent me this one below.
I think she knows me well and she's only known me for 1 year now. I think I should be more concerned about that than I am. :-)...tee hee
One of my favorite comedians posted this -
Is It Friday Yet?
I have decided that I could deal with hurricanes, tornados, and snow far more than I could fire. These fires out west are horrific. I don't know how all those out there deal with this kind of thing.
My first thought was, Oh my goodness how close is this to Rick's sisters?
So we look it up. We check on them.
Then the 2nd thought was shallow and self-serving.
Wine country is being destroyed. The cost of wine will skyrocket if there are any grapes left to make wine. No, I can't deal with a fire.
My sister Stephanie lives in western Washington state. She has had fires.
She awoke to her fire alarm going off because the smoke was so bad and yet it was far away. She and her family have had to deal with these fires all summer.
Instead of brushing snow off your car, you are brushing off the ash. It all sounds so scary and awful to me. I will take snow over that. I want neither.
We had our friend/neighbor right next door to us over on Saturday along with his girlfriend. They are moving to North Carolina. The movers are here today. I moved my car for the moving van. They were so happy that I moved my car without them asking, this older guy did a little jig and then took off his hat and bowed to me. Too damn cute. I must say he seemed too old to be moving furniture but good for him.
This neighbor lives smack dab next to me. Been a great neighbor and lots of fun to do things with. They already bought their new house. The house is gorgeous with a capital G. They showed us all the photos. It is 2600 sq on 1 acre. Now where we live that wouldn't be affordable for me. That would be in the 800's and more in high-end areas. But down south it is only 292,000.
That cracked us up. Simultaneously Rick and I asked, "Does it have a roof and windows?"
Our neighbor pulled out his phone and showed us the pictures. WOW.
He sold his home next door (just a townhouse) for 435K (5 over asking) and his girlfriend made 300K on her teeny tiny Arlington home so they paid cash and are retiring there in March. They are renting a small apartment here and fully moving then. They will be down there a lot between now and then of course.
We spent the evening laughing, drinking, eating and my neighbor telling Rick to move down there too. It's near this big ole fishing lake. (These two both love fishing) I know I'm going to end up in the south because it's cheap but I so don't care for the south. (I sigh heavily here.) But we can't afford to retire here unless we win the lottery. The places I would love to live are expensive. Maybe I will be surprised. Who knows right?
Now to the haters. I know everyone hates the Yankees. Well not everyone, just those that lose against them. They are the most loved team around the world. You don't hear a kid in Taiwan playing little league telling you he wants to grow up and play for the Twins. When I traveled you'd see the NYY logo on their shirts and hats. And yes, they have won 27 WS rings. But it's not like they win all the time. The 80's were a complete drought. Only twice in the 70's and in this century we've only won 2 times. Most of the wins were way before I was around.
It's been a very long time to me, but not in Chicago Cub terms but a long time.
I get it, easy to hate the Goliath. But this year they were the underdog for the first time in a long time. Actually 1st time I can remember. Sports Illustrated said they would probably be in last place but it would be a good rebuilding year. Yep, that is what we all thought honestly.
Everyone including me felt we would be very very lucky to win 50% of our games and finish at .500. That was the best outcome in my eyes. The majority of the team is playing for the 1st time in the majors. The good thing about these kids is that they all played together coming up in the minors for the same team. So they had time to gel. But c'mon no one, absolutely no one thought it would get this far.
When we play my nemesis Boston I never berate Boston to my Boston friends. So unclassy, so uncool. I hope we speak on the field and I don't have to send them I hate the red sox memes or email or comments. They know how I feel.
It is so childish and honestly, it feels like football behavior and I won't stoop to that level.
But these Cleveland friends/family have been ugly.
They text me, they leave messages on my timeline on FB, they trash talk to me in emails. I never said anything about their team. They have a great team. I would never write trash talk to them. My cousin sent me something and I just deleted it. I knew if we won it would kill him and I wouldn't have to say a thing. I ignored them all and never responded. Now you see I didn't need to.
Look, it's just a friggin game. We have a stupid president who has an IQ of an inanimate object. He doesn't want to help Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands. You know Americans. He has passed nothing good while in office. Our infrastructure is a hot mess and he doesn't address it, more worried about bad stores about him on TV. That is far more important than any game. But the games are a great relief from thinking of this imbecile and what he is doing to our country.
I was shocked we pulled this win out. Cleveland is such a good team.
Houston has swept us all season and we play them next. Who knows. But it is fun to watch and it helps me escape from reality. So the haters can hate. But my husband pointed out to me that all these nasty things being thrown at me are from trump supporters. I had to laugh. Okay, consider the source, they aren't too bright to begin with.
I'm keeping my head up. I don't trash talk. I think Dodgers will win it all is my prediction. (I can see beyond my love of my team.)
I had a classy move from my friend Laura this morning, congratulating me on the win. I told her I wasn't playing, but thanks :-)
Now that is how a fan from another team acts. Classy.

Walking
Well, it happened. I am no longer walking Lorrie.
Boy that was fast huh?
Everything gets her upset these days the poor thing.
She gets rattled so easily.
That horrific day of driving with her was the day I realized that any little thing that is a tiny bit off makes her go crazy. She can't deviate from her plan or have confusion around her because it gets her very very upset.
Monday it was pouring rain. I called her as is the case she did not answer the phone. I text her and said, "Are we going to be out there today and singing in the rain?" (insert smiley face)
She did not respond to me. I walked down to her home in the wind and rain with my umbrella hoping we were not walking but showing up in case she was ready and waiting for me. She would not answer the door.
So I assumed she wasn't going. I was rather happy about that.
As the morning went on I began to feel that me not following up with her maybe irresponsible on my part. What if she couldn't get to her phone? What if she was hurt or worse? So then I wrote to her again and asked if she was okay. She answers her phone or I'd have tried that.
No response to my text. At lunchtime, I went to her home and she did not answer the door.
At 2:30p she texts me and said, "I assumed we wouldn't be walking due to the rain and I figured you would know that." Hmm, that was odd to say. I wrote back and just said, "just checking on you Lorrie since you weren't responding that you are fine. I am happy to hear from you. See you tomorrow morning."
This morning at 6:11 she emailed me. Who looks at email at that hour?
Apparently only me. Something told me to check my emails. I hadn't even turned on my phone yet but grabbed it to see if I had an email for some reason.
She indeed emailed me to say, "I am in the throes of Kristin’s getting the Estate Sale ready and am literally camping inside my house. There’s so much going on I can’t cope with any more plans."
Kristen is her daughter and when I was at her home last week she had a dining room filled with things to the rafters that were going to be sold.
See what I mean about every little thing sending her to the edge of the cliff? (That must be just dreadful)
Walking in the morning for a short time does not constitute plans to me.
But if having to be dressed and out of the house by 7a is a plan then that was exactly why your doctor and daughter asked me to do this with you.
I didn't debate any of this with her, it's her life, I was doing what was asked of me. I just wrote back and said, "Okay. If you need to run down here to get out of all the chaos you know you are always welcome"
So I just poured myself a cup of coffee and sat down with Rick and Izzy and had a nice cozy morning before work. I had already walked Izzy at 5:30a so I didn't mind not going for a few more hours.
I would bet anything she told her daughter some other reasons. As I have mentioned she will do anything to get out of moving and not sitting in a chair. She has asked me to lie to her daughter before. I would not do that.
According to her daughter, she said the doctor said that was the worst thing for her to do - just sit and not be moving.
Look, she's is going to die from this. She speaks about dying from this disease on every walk.
She claims to be prepared as she can be.
It's her life and if this is how she wants to finish it up isn't she allowed to do what she wants? I'm a bit torn on this.
I know if it were my husband I'd be making him get his arse outside.
But I also see her side. So there ya go.
I hope I never have to deal with this after my father.
I think I've had enough of this dreaded disease in my life.

Donna Shut Up.
My goodness our world is a cluster !@#$
Donna Karan used to make baggy clothes and shitty perfume so I am fortunate that I don't have to boycott her stuff - because I would. I am not a fan of baggy clothes because I haven't given up entirely just yet. I did buy a pair of her pantyhose once. It was a lot of money at the time (the '80s) and I remember thinking the stuff in an egg was far better. She may be making more streamlined clothes by now but I wouldn't know because I can't afford her things anymore so I never have looked. In the 80's and 90's it was all baggy dresses to the floor and baggy sweaters off the shoulder and it was a tired Flashdance look at the time. That was the last time I've seen anything of hers so boycotting her clothes won't be an issue for me.
I love how this morning she claimed her words were taken out of context.
Hmm....really? I saw you say all of this on a video. You said it. It came out of your mouth. I saw the full interview - how could that be taken out of context?
You are just worried that women who like your baggy clothes won't buy them so you are backtracking.
I am so tired of people thinking that women deserve harassment if dressed a certain way. Sexual harassment is coming from a place of power and control generally. If a woman is dressed provocatively does that mean she deserves harassment? If at work she deserves for her boss to tell her to go home and change if inappropriate work attire. That is it. Her outfit does not deserve anything else.
Are men such animals that they can't control themselves?
I am tired of women being shamed for their harassment. That is why so few come forward. There is also the fear factor. Fear of losing your job. Fear of being blackballed from your industry/career as a troublemaker. I know for a fact that once this is in human resources it will follow you!
All women have dealt with this is one form or another.
God knows I have since the age of 12. That was when I was very aware of the looks, the comments, the feeling of being cornered.
By the time I was 12 I was wearing a C cup bra and I was a young girl who looked like I was at least 16. The comments from boys at school were bad enough but then grown-ups who did this too made this so confusing as a kid to me. The catcalls, comments from teachers, neighbors and even a friend of my fathers. I was always uncomfortable. I tried like hell to hide my body all the time, even at the beach in my bikini with coverups that never came off until all the boys were gone. I even responded to pool parties as a no because I didn't want to deal with the boys and all the staring and the grief that a 12 or 13 year can't deal with. I always made an excuse to my mother about why I didn't want to go and to my friends about why I couldn't go. I lied to everyone. Your body looks like Sophia Vergara but your mind is only 12 and it is just too much.
By the time I was an adult I was able to deal with it most days without tears.
As a young kid, I cried all the damn time as well as being scared a lot of times.
But as a young adult in my 20's and 30's I began to be able to deal with this a bit better, not as well as an old seasoned broad as I am today, but better.
When I worked for an airline I was always dealing with this.
Once it was done in front of a friend of mine who was a pilot, he put that man in his place so quickly the man's face turned red and he turned and ran. I basically said the same things but coming from another man apparently made him HEAR those words. But I think it was because he respected this man in uniform and I was "just a girl", a commodity.
Then when I was 31 I worked in an office. This office was airlines sales and the other side of the building was the airline computer system personnel. (GDS)
I was in the latter.
There was a man there who bothered me constantly. He worked in airline sales.
I hid when I could smell him coming down the hall towards us in the GDS office His cologne was putrid and it was his calling card.
I finally stood up to him as I have told you here before. He never bothered me again. Did he learn his lesson or just attribute this all to be being a bitch?
This is what I heard him say to others about me many many times.
Too bad we didn't have sexual harassment in the day or I'd be retired right now.
Now on that day, I did have a v-neck on. I was not showing any cleavage because I was always hiding these girls. That isn't me. But it wasn't a turtleneck. But this asshole did this to me when I wore a turtleneck, v-neck and sometimes I think he'd do it if I was wearing a burka. This was never my fault. I wouldn't even enter that side of the building for fear of seeing this creep. He made me feel so badly about myself and honestly I felt like I needed a shower after encountering him. No woman should feel that way. The fact that I really worked on the clothing I chose shows you have ingrained in we gals how our dress attracts this behavior. I did everything but wear a burka to hide my body.
Donna Karan, shame on you. You should know better.
I do know better and you can bet I won't ever spend a cent on your wares.
No woman should have to change the way she dresses so men behave appropriately.

Tid Bits
I got up at 2:30am. I laid in bed as long as I possibly could listening to Rick and Izzy breathing/light snoring. I wasn't falling back to sleep and I knew it. But why? I went to bed at 10p so it wasn't late but still, 2:30 was not that much sleep.
I quietly grabbed my clothes and went downstairs.
I had been laying in bed for the last hour wide awake so I was not the least bit groggy.
I sat in Rick's big chair and turned on the TV.
I put on the ole Bluetooth headphones so I could hear the TV without making it loud for everyone else sleeping. I love listening to TV with the headphones. I can hear perfectly what is being said that way. Pitiful but true.
I watched some of the things I had DVR'd. Then I decided to wash the kitchen floor. Yep at 3:15am. Crazy, I know.
Then I watched How to Get Away with Murder.
Then I made coffee and had a cup in silence. My favorite way to have my first cup. Then at 5:30a Rick and Izzy joined me. I fed Izzy and Rick walked her thankfully.
I packed up Rick's lunch and then showered. At 7:10a Lorrie walked down here.
We had a couple cups of coffee and I made breakfast for us. It was nice.
She talked about her excitement for her new home. She is thrilled now to be moving. There was a hiccup but they got it worked out thankfully. I am happy to see her this happy about it because if she wasn't this could be ugly you know? So many I see with this dreadful disease get so cantankerous and mean. She is not there - yet anyway.

Have you all seen the movie The Big Sick?
We watched this last week and we both really enjoyed it.
Far better than the Fonda and Redford movie. Just thought I'd share.

I made sport of a poor salesman today from Angie's List. That was fun.

My dog threw up today on our patio. I saw it and then the doorbell rang.
Izzy was now inside laying down. So I dealt with the person at the door and ran outside to hose this off the patio and the damn dog ate it while I was dealing with the person at my door. I was so grossed out. Then again it could have just vanished into thin air but doubtful.
I have never seen her do that. Damn, that is disgusting!

I am thinking that this evening I may sit on the patio on the big comfy sofa out there and have a drink of Peggy's summer water. I haven't had any wine in a few weeks. (At least it feels that long...tee hee) But it is hot and it is summer weather and one must enjoy it while we can. And of course, some summer water is the key on Friday!

New Shoes!
This has been a very very long week for me.
I feel like it should have been Friday - 3 days ago!
So instead of a spreadsheet, quarterly taxes, answering phones, dealing with the google pay per click changes I am writing and listening to the Billy Joel Channel.
Ah, I love this man. I love how on this channel of his, he explains how a song came to be. The last one I just heard was, Only The Good Die Young. It started as a reggae song. So he played it on the piano how he originally wrote it, reggae style. Then apparently his drummer said, Look you've never been to Jamaica unless you are talking Jamaica Queens. It's not going to work. So he played several of the renditions they went through. So interesting to see how a song manifests. Then the real song as it was recorded. I didn't know this either, the song was banned in a lot of places. Weird huh? In today's world that is hardly a risque song. Yes, about lust, but it's pretty tame in today's world don't you think?
I hit the back of my heel on a bench at the foot of my bed several months ago. For the most part, the swelling has gone down.
The pain has not gone away.
Rick kept telling me to have an Xray. I didn't think it was broken but he wouldn't let up. Your deductible has been met, so just go. Rick went to this man for something in his foot years ago.
He kept telling me I would love Dr. Shabazz.
OH, MY GOD, I LOVE THIS MAN!!!
He is so jovial. Always smiling and laughing and as warm as can be.
Credentials up the ass as well. I googled him and saw all these reviews about him. I kept thinking he can't be real. Oh, he was real...and wonderful.
He listened to my complaints. He gave me good input, showed me the results of X-rays and sonogram of my heel so I could understand exactly what was going on. We walked through some options and I decided let's be aggressive, let's just do the damn shot.
So I got a cortisone shot in my heel. Oh, let me tell you how horrible that was. Geez, who would have thought? I had them in my shoulder and knee and it was fine. This was so different. And each time he'd say I have to move the needle, I thought I was gonna die! It wasn't broken as Rick was convinced it was. I have a bone spur and I have some inflammation left over from when I hit it. Apparently, this spur was angry after I hit it.
I am just very tired of the burning pain and the inability to rest my foot down on my heel. The little bit of swelling that is left makes it hard to put on some shoes. My favorites sneakers are stretched out so those don't bother me. My other shoes and my nice booties etc can send me through the roof with pain. They are very tight around my heel due to the swelling.
When I told him how all my shoes hurt my heel, he laughed and said to get new shoes and he laughed again. I said, "gee want to write me a prescription to buy more shoes so my husband will understand? He thinks I have too many shoes for a woman with only 2 feet."
Dr. Schabazz laughed and said, "Okay I think I will. That would be funny"
Upon checking out the Doctor gave me 2 prescriptions. One Rx for an anti-inflammatory cream to put on my heel 2x a day. He said I didn't need to come back unless I had a flare-up. (yippee) The second Rx was to get new shoes. See below.
The doctor really did it. (I wish the word LOTS OF was before the word new.)
I laughed and thanked him.
He was laughing and smiling as he said, "I expect to be hearing from Richard."
I laughed and said I'm certain you will. He again went over my follow through and thanked me and that was that.
I am not allowed to do all the walking I do daily until Monday. So on my way home from the doctors, I stopped at Lorrie's to let her know that I can't walk tomorrow. I invited her to come up to my house instead for coffee and coffee cake. This way she will at least walk 3 blocks since I live 3 blocks from her home.
So now I think I may hit Zappos or some such shoe site.
I need more shoes you know.
