Weekly Memes

This meme made me chuckle.
Although it should read, Guess What body PARTS (plural) if you ask me.

did I post this one already?

Some of us are so old, we can remember going through an entire day without taking pictures of anything ecard
This below would be my crazy neighbor Nancy.

I love this shitty tipper board. I would like something similar for Angie's List and Yelp. Along with customers rating businesses on those sites, I would like to be able to rate customers. This way other contractors know who is batshit crazy and those who don't pay, etc.  Then and only then would it be a level playing field.
The thought of it makes me very happy.

Another Blonde Moment

Yesterday's temp was 85 but today's high will only be 65 so it was a bit chillier this morning. It certainly felt colder so I grabbed myself some socks before I walked out of the bedroom. (I never wear shoes around the house for some reason).
I grabbed my socks and I ran down the stairs this morning holding them.
Izzy and Rick were on their way out the door.

I was running around like I do in the morning.
I put one sock on when Izzy came running in and stood at the back door wanting to go out.  I jumped up to open the back door. I put the other sock down on the sofa as I opened the back door for her.
I began my morning routine of putting her food in her bowl, while Rick ran into the bathroom. Apparently at 5am Izzy wanted to walk slowly home after her morning constitution and Rick thought he could, but instead RAN back to the house to use the bathroom. That made me chuckle.

I grabbed Izzy's food and filled up her bowl.
I began to make Rick's coffee and then his lunch.
I made sure he had his paperwork for the day and then made myself a cup of coffee.
When I was done, I sat on the sofa by Rick holding my warm cup of coffee with both hands and said, I must have a hole in my right sock because the bottom of my foot is cold. As I said this I lifted my foot to view the hole.
He was looking as well.
I had not put on the other sock yet.

We both began to laugh and he just shook his head and just said, "damn good thing you're cute Margaret"

Damn good thing love is blind. 😀

Halloween

Okay, let's gossip shall we?
I mean I've been writing depressing stuff and why not go lower and gossip.

I saw this and it made me laugh.
Image may contain: text
I showed it to Rick and said, "wanna bet Nancy gives this out for Halloween?"
He got a real kick out of that then said, "not if there is dressing in there, she'd never allow for that fatty dressing."
I nodded my head knowing full well he was right.

You see we have a new neighbor. They rotate every two years because it's a rental. They are made to sign a 2 yr agreement. After 2 yrs no one stays for $2,700 a month + when they realize the landlord is a dick.
Yes, that is the nicest thing I can say about him.

This new chickie as Rick refers to her is a stick.
She awakes before the crack of dawn. I see her on my 5am walks all excited to go to the gym. It takes everything I can to have a smile at that hour and not slap the little shit. She is all happy and talkative at that hour and she is in constant motion, never standing to talk but running in place. She exhausts me.

She comes home from working out for 2 hrs and gets her kids off to school.
They are very young girls. I am guessing 1st and 3rd grade.
They could be older because they are tiny as their mom.
She tells me she works from home but each time I walk the dog she is heading out to a yoga class, a boot camp class and of course this is in addition to her 5a gym work out.  She has 2 - 3 exercise classes a day she tells me proudly. When does she have time to work and take care and be with her family?

I know she is telling me this while her inner conversation in her mind is saying, 'Look you chubby old broad get out there and do this yourself, you need it.'
But while she is thinking that about me I am thinking to myself, I'd rather get a root canal without novocaine than be that fanatic about exercise.
But I smile and nod while she tells me excitedly about her classes.

She is very small. She is taller than me but most are over the age of 12.
She is probably 5'3 or 4. She has thighs the size of my ring finger.
When I made cookies for Rick I brought some over to her girls.
She wouldn't let them eat them. They saw the plate of cookies and she said no we don't eat cookies. I beg to differ, you don't want cookies because heaven forbid one cookie should touch the mouth of one of your daughters.

They don't need cookies she went on or begin to get fat at this age she tells me.
Okay then.  I took my cookies and walked home. But not before the neighbor on the other side was getting out of his car and said, "for me?" as I stood there holding a plate of cookies.
I laughed and said, "Yes, Tom just for you."
He was thrilled and I let it be that they were for him.

The other day when we were out front sweeping leaves as Izzy laid in the grass she came over with the girls to chat. The girls want a dog but she won't allow that until they are old enough to walk said dog. I was thinking, gee all that walking is exercise you nut job. isn't that what you want?"
But that stayed in my head because I have a filter, unlike my hubby.

Rick asked the girls what they were going to be for Halloween.
They were so excited to talk about what princess they would be and what was going on at school and the local parade of costumes.
Rick said to the girls, "Well we can't wait until you ring our bell and we get to see you. What kind of candy do you like?"

The mom instantly said, "What do we do girls with our candy?"
In unison like trained robots and with their head down they said in a sad whine, "we give it away" as they didn't make eye contact.
Oh my God, that broke my heart. They looked so forlorn.

I said, "you give it away? why that is so nice of you."
Knowing full well this skinny wench won't let candy touch the girl's lips for fear they will be fat not because she is being thoughtful to others less fortunate.
The mother said, 'they are allowed to pick out 4 or 5 pieces to keep and eat over the year, the rest is given away."  4 or 5 between 2 girls.Over a year? 2 pieces a piece over a year?  Why not just stop after 4 or 5 doors then? Why make them see all this candy that they can't have.
It all seemed mean to me.
Their mom must have been a fat kid and this is her issue she is handing down to them.

My husband being without filter said, "Really not even letting them have one indulgence all year for a kid? Wow, you're tough."
She went off on how this starts bad habits and they don't need all that sugar and 4 or 5 in the house is not what she would want but a compromise made with her husband. Then she rolled her eyes.
She doesn't think they should have any.

So then Mr. No Filter said, "Did you go trick or treating as a kid or were you expected to just watch your friends have all the fun?"
She said I went and I ate all the candy and now I must pay for it.
She said that so strongly, "I must pay for it" like a motto or like she was punishing herself. How sad if that is the case.

My God this was the weirdest conversation. She must pay for it?
Perhaps she was heavy and now is an exercise fanatic. Anorexic?
Those poor little girls.
I bet when they grow up they will go batshit crazy for candy because they have been deprived.

My parents wouldn't let me take my candy into my room and I knew it was because they knew that I'd eat it all. They were right.
We ate a lot on that night and then felt sick and didn't want any for awhile.
But it lasted for months and our bags were handed to us when we asked.
Yes, we were monitored but no one told us no. If my sister or I took more than one at a time my mom would take the bags away and say that is it girls. (Sometimes we got to keep two.)
Mom said this all stern but we would giggle and run.  When our candy was gone, that was it, no stealing from a sister. Bribing a sister worked, but not often.

We did do a lot of trades though.
I liked a lot of things my sister didn't so there were always trades.
In fact, when we came home on Halloween night we would empty our bags on the floor and sort through it. Always gave my Dad the apples. Then my sister and I would begin our exchanges.
I'll give you a baby ruth for that almond joy.
I don't recall either of us eating more than one full-size bar which we got in those days unless it was smartees or something like that.
I could make those Necco wafers last a long time. But more often than not I used those for negotiations with my sister. She loved them all but the black ones. I loved the black ones best so I would get her black ones and still get a baby ruth for exchanging. I won on that deal!

I LOVE Halloween so I hope they have fun at school.
I used to get some candy at school too. Wonder if the mom told the teachers no candy for her kids. I hope not because watching the other kids around them eating candy and not being able to have it would be so difficult. I hope the girls get their candy at school and not a salad.

Not Funny Today

I have been a real Debbie Downer this week, haven't I?
I think I will let the bummer blog continue for another day.
I want to talk to you all about something that is going on with me.

My mom died when I was 13.

For the 3 years prior to her death, she was sick.
I put on a brave face as I was asked to do.
I put on a brave face when I got a new mom.
I put on a brave face when I was unhappy and wanted so desperately to talk to someone.
I put on a brave face when no one talked about my mom, it was like she vanished and that was that. Life went on.

I thought I handled it well frankly.

My sister walked around telling everyone her mother died and that was her excuse for everything and anything.
Her M.O. was - Bad behavior, sad face, my mother died. Everyone gave her sympathy and a free pass.

Yep, she still does it at age 59. She does it so much she used the line on me. The look on her face when I said, "Oh really? I didn't know, I'm sorry to hear that." It hit her then that she says it so much she forgot who she was talking to. But she couldn't recover and it just pissed me off.

Everyone has shit in their lives. You can't go around pissing and moaning about it. You're no more special than the kid down the street who's father may beat him. We all have to deal with stuff, that is called Life. We can be pissy, moan and bitch or suck it up, do the work and make yourself a good life. I thought that was what I was to do.

Suddenly as an older person, I am dealing with some of that.
It's like I hit a wall.
I suppose if I went and talked to someone they would tell me to purge it.
But what am I purging exactly?
How my father and all other adults wouldn't talk about? How we were expected to just go on, she's dead, you're alive, live.
I've sure done that here. I know I've told you about her telling me she was dying and how dad would remarry etc. It is buried here in my archives all that purging. I also did a long 3 part post on how it made me feel a couple years back when I had to look through all this shit from the funeral. How angry it made me. Why hasn't this anger gone away? Why does it bubble up from time to time?

I have forgiven my Dad. He did the best he knew how. As the Maya Angelou saying goes, "When you know better you do better."
I sure don't feel that way about my father day to day so it surprised me.
I don't ever want to hold onto anger, it's not who I am or want to be.

Then I think, okay, I just vented I don't feel any better.

I wonder why this is bubbling up now? That is my question today.

Have you found as you have aged, what you thought were small things have reared their heads?  If so how did you handle it? Is it because I didn't deal with it as I should have that this is coming up? And how should I have dealt with it?  A lot of shit is coming back to me now at age 62.

I don't want to deal with negative shit for my last 20 or so years. That is not who I am. So I am befuddled on this one.

Any smart/wise men or women out there got an answer?

I promise to be back to smart ass Peg soon.

Red Tide

Gosh, I hate not seeing comments until I search for them!

It's raining AGAIN. I am getting webbed feet.
I swear when I lived in Seattle it did not rain this much. And never this heavy.
I will be moldy soon. It will be raining all week and won't stop until possibly this weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed.

It's cool too. Weird. I fear my trip to Vermont. I may have to pack my long johns and parka. This southern gal will freeze in 30 degrees.
____________

Update on ole Izzy the Wonder Dog.
She is doing so much better.
I know we bit the bullet on this one. She could have died.
We got back to the vet in 3 weeks or so to redo the blood work.
Hopefully, no lasting damage and my gut was right to leave that area quickly.

The link Mike sent in the comments showed a pond that was very green.
We only saw a small amount in the corner of this cove.
I can't fathom something with that much green. We would have all died.

My cousin is dealing with red tide in Tampa/St Pete. Very similar.
She is sick as well as it is killing fish, manatees etc
I do not eat fish and this will make me not want my loved ones to eat fish.

Apparently, this algae is so numerous that they discolor the coastal waters hence the name red tide. It depletes oxygen in the waters and releases toxins that may cause illness in humans and animals.
My cousin stated that this has hurt tourism in the gulf.

Will we just never have a place of fresh water to drink, swim in?
What are we doing to our planet?
Is this man made? I am having a helluva time trying to find anything that tells me what exactly it stems from except that is it algae.
I found this link interesting
I admit a lot of things from this article I had to look up.

My cousin hasn't even been in the water but she lives close and apparently as the winds travel in her direction and she was outdoors this has affected her. She feels trapped. Can't go to the beach, can't be outside if the wind is going in her direction. That is damn crazy don't you think?  I find it very difficult to believe this is just nature. I believe this has man made written all over it don't you think?

Boy, this was a bummer of a post. Sorry.

Sick Izzy

When we got home from vacation Izzy was very sick.
The last day there (Friday) we thought she was just tired.
She didn't want to swim anymore and that alone is odd when there is water for her to see.
She kept going to the car when we took her for a walk like she wanted to get in and go home. She was also very lethargic.
But we kept saying to one another she is almost 10 so she's not as energetic as when she was younger. A lot like me.

We arrived home on a Friday. Saturday morning at 1:30AM she was vomiting. She did again later on Saturday. We began with only small amounts of rice and boiled chicken to see if she could hold that down.
She looked so miserable. I wish she could talk and tell me what was hurting her.

I called the vet. We made arrangements to bring her in on Sunday morning unless she got worse then go to the ER.
We went to the vets on Sunday. Our normal vet was not working, but a vet that was did examine her. She took her blood. They gave her a liquid for hydration since she has been vomiting and put a drug in that liquid to stop nausea and vomiting.

This liquid they give her gives her a hump on her shoulders like she's a camel. Too bad they can't do that for Halloween. 😏

While we waited for her blood work to come back to us we noticed her perking up ever so slightly. That made us assume she was not nauseous anymore.

The blood work came back and the vet came to share with us the news.
The last time she had blood work her liver enzymes were 38 I believe she said.  Right now they were 1,810.
So we began the questions of what she has ingested. Nothing was out of the ordinary as far as food I kept telling her. Yes, she was drinking far more water than normal. We went through all the questions.
Finally, I asked if algae could do this.

I told the doctor about an area that we have never seen or that we have ever gone to. No one was there, it was farmland area. It was incredibly quiet so we pulled our boat into a cove and anchored. We got our chairs and sat a spell and watched Izzy swim about. Then I noticed a large amount of algae on one side. I kept making Izzy come back towards us. Rick kept poo-pooing me as he likes to do.I'm a worry wart he'd say.

After 30 minutes the algae was moving towards us and I told Rick we should leave. Again he poo-pooed me. I began to fold my chair and grab my things and put them on the boat. I told him he could stay but I didn't think the algae was good for Izzy or for human swimming and we were leaving.

He came along and we went back to the main lake.
The doctor's first question was are you sure it was farmland.
We said yes, for certain. Then she knew what happened. Apparently, this blue-green algae is from chemicals in fertilizers. This is toxic to dogs and I imagine humans as well.

She was concerned about Izzy. She was hoping the liver numbers would go back down but said if they don't she will have liver damage. Great. I about killed my fur baby.

She told us we had 2 choices, wait a few weeks and do another round of blood tests to see if the numbers go down or if she is not feeling better in 2 days then go to the internal medicine veterinary clinic.

We waited 2 days and she wasn't throwing up but not better.
The Vet called to check up on her and after all my questions she asked what I wanted to do.
I said I would prefer to go the internal medicine route to be sure we didn't give her liver damage. Better to know sooner than later.

We did just that. They shaved her belly and did a scan. All was well. They took blood and her live numbers went down to 794. That is more than half so we were thrilled. The internal medicine Vet asked me all the questions again.
This time I waited for him to tell me it was algae. I did not offer it and I knew it was not on the records I brought.

He asked if we had taken her to any bodies of water near farmland.
He thought it was from blue-green algae. And he went on to explain what this algae was and did to dogs and humans. I then told him what we had done. He said if we had let her stay in that water any longer this could have been far worse.

We still have to have her blood work looked at in another few weeks to make certain it is going down and there are no lasting effects. But right now she appears to be back to normal. We are thrilled to say the least and thankful once again for pet insurance!

If this algae from fertilizer does this to a dog, then what does this fertilizer do regarding our food?
Is Montasano going to kill us all?

Achilles

I've been in baseball mode.
1 more game we must not let them clinch in our house.
That is all I ask the baseball God's.

I went to the foot doctor regarding my Achilles for a follow-up.
I hate that boot but I love that boot.
The compression feels great,

So, of course, I say this out loud thinking it is a harmless remark.
But are there harmless remarks in my house with Rick around?
As is the case Rick grabbed it and won't let go.

He asked if he had to buy me those old lady knee-high compression socks.
He told me that would be a nice look on me as he is cracking himself up.
He said I'd look like my Grandma.
He then reminded me of my old Italian grandmother who wore knee highs with her hairy legs and with a dress.

I reminded him those were not compression garments, just knee highs.
I ask, "Gee don't you think that's a hot look? You don't think I should do that?"
He continues laughing telling me I will be wearing that look in no time.
He reminds me that Ancestry.com just sent me an update on my DNA.
He tells me I am destined to look like her.

Apparently, with new science, they are updating data.
He got the same thing from Amazon only different results.
I am 96% Italian and 4% Turkey and Caucasus, whatever that is.
So now he is having a field day with this Italian stuff.

I will be the bearded lady in my old age according to him. You know the old joke, why do Italian men grow mustaches? To look like their mother.
So he's been on this line of thought all week.

Honestly every chance he gets to give me a hard time.
He won't let up about my old lady things happening to me.
If compression socks show up in my Xmas stocking he is a dead man.

Karma

I had a hair appointment yesterday after work.
Cut and color and all that fun. I actually love getting my hair done and my stylist is a rock star!!
But the point of this story is to tell you about a crazy ass woman who was in the salon.

This salon is a new concept.
The building has 60 or more hair salons in it.
When my gold star gal wanted to open her own business she made the move here.
She rents a room if you will, while small, it is hers and it works.
The door to her salon opens into a lovely seating area and she also has two chairs along with a chair/sink. It's decorated in a very nice and pleasing way. It's super comfortable and I think this is a cool concept for anyone wanting to start their own business. She gets to keep all her money and just pay rent to the owner. She has total control and this is her business and her hours. It's a cool concept.

Anyhoo, she had a person come into the salon while I was sitting there with color all over me.
The woman had what Rick refers to as Resting Bitch Face.
I am certain most men would turn their heads at this blonde person.
She thought she was hot shit. As she walked by me and looked at me I said, Hello. She said nothing. Not even a smile.
It's small everyone speaks to one another at least a salutation of hello and a smile. So in my mind, I filed her under, "Okay, she's one of those"

She sat in the chair 2 ft or less from me.
The conversation was flowing with the hair stylist and her two customers.
I was just listening as she went on and on. She began her tales telling us about a show called Purge which I had never heard of. She said after a certain amount of time, let's say for the purpose of this blog, it's one month. Every month you can kill someone with no repercussions. Not something I would ever watch.

She began to say she would kill all the homeless people who suck us dry as well as all the mentally ill who take up space and in her words were "useless" and the list got worse and worse. Everyone to her sucked the economy dry. She hates all people making less than 100K because as she said, "then get a better job"

The more she spoke the uglier she got.
She had such a bitter, curmudgeon and ugly attitude I was shocked.
She said one more thing and I felt my head explode and I turned my chair and said, "you are a new age republican aren't you? You don't give Halloween candy away either do you?" She retorted with,"Yes I am not like my fathers republican and I'm damn proud of it! And no those little shits can get their parents to buy their own candy."

Holy shit what a nice gal huh?

I looked at Tracey's face and she was mortified.
I turned my chair and thought, shut up Margaret this is not your client.
If it had been I would have asked her to leave or I'd have to shoot her.
haha, nope, but I would have asked her to leave only because I don't believe in owning a gun....because I'd have shot her.

By the time I got home and finished up dinner Tracey was texting me and apologizing. She said she has never seen this ugly side of her and she wanted to cry. She said it only got worse after I left. Then she told Tracy, your customer turned her chair from me as soon as I told her I was proud of trump. Guess she's a liberal. Tracey said, "She turned her chair from you because you are talking batshit crazy!"

The woman with resting bitch face said she was 43.
How did this young person get so ugly? How did she get so bitter and mean?

She is from Chicago and bitched about living here for 20 solid minutes.
Finally, I said in the kindest, nicest way possible I might add, "why don't you just move back to Chicago? Is that possible with your job?"

I assumed she had a job or was a kept woman since she felt all the people including the unemployed were sucking our system dry.
She then said if she wants to see 'that kid' she has to live within 35 miles of her ex-husband.    "that kid"
Wow, what a warm loving heartfelt comment from the mom huh?
I just responded with Oh.
I didn't give a rats ass about her family or her so I didn't wish to talk to her further. She is toxic.
But that didn't stop her from yammering so all could hear.

I was thrilled I got to leave and leave her behind.
What a piece of work.

I sure hope nothing bad ever happens to this princess in her life because Karma is a bitch!

Comments

I am still not receiving my comments via email any longer.
Blogger tells me it is fixed. But it's not for me.
Any ideas that you could share?

I went in the back way and hit comments and accidentally deleted one.

Instead of hitting the post it was from I hit delete and there was no way to recover it.
I am just so frustrated with all of this.

If anyone can share anything at all on how to get these back I would so appreciate it.

I'm here!!

Rick enjoys busting my chops about my family and me.
I had an Uncle Angelo who did this every time I saw him.
The first time Rick witnessed this was when we arrived at my parent's house.
Uncle Ange was sitting at the kitchen island and as I walked in he lifted his arms and would say, "Hey Peggy's here" a laugh kind of sound was at the end or beginning of this phrase.
I loved/adored this man.
I never really thought about all the times he's done that.
Until we saw this on Everybody Loves Raymond.

I had an Uncle Joe who did the same thing.
One day when I lived in an apartment above my Aunts house he stopped by to give this sister in law of his some vegetables from his garden.
Rick and I were walking out of our apartment and saw Uncle Joe on the porch and he said, "Peggy's here!"
Rick burst into laughter.
Again I honestly never noticed this before Rick pointed it out to me.

Last night I got an email from my former sister in law in Vermont.
She wrote how excited they are about my visit.
Her husband (my ex's brother) may cry and get very emotional when he sees you just so you are prepared. She went on, He told me that I can't wait to hug her and I can't believe Peggy will be here. yeah!

Oh no! Why did he read my email. I knew the ribbing was about to start.
Rick read this and said, "If any of them raise their arms like your Uncle's and say Peggy's here YIPEE" I want it on video.

Now look, I have a sister or two who would only cheer if I left the room.
So not everyone does this but enough of them that my damn husband must torture me about it.

"Why Rick can't you just be happy that people like me instead of making fun of me about this?".
"Now, what fun would that be? C'mon Margaret"

Story to describe yourself.

I was asked to write a story that has happened to me that would tell you who I am, or that describes me.
I had to think about that for a long time. I couldn't think of a thing.
When I asked my husband he suggested the story of me breaking my nose. I think I've told that here but once again when searching I couldn't find it. So I will repeat if I did write it here. He thinks that shows you who I am to my core. I am not so sure but couldn't think of anything at all.

I was working for a small commuter airline in Latrobe PA.
I lived in Erie PA.
For those who don't know they aren't even close.
So I had to fly to work every day.
One evening the snow was so bad our flight was canceled. I was wearing an early 80's business suit. You know like Melanie Griffith's Working Girl.

A pilot I worked with and I went to this small motel that the airline put us up in.
This small hotel had a screen door and then your motel door.
Small town, small motel. Not even a hotel.

When I got to my room I carefully folded my clothes knowing I had to wear them tomorrow. But I was freezing in just my panties and blouse.
So I called the pilot in the room next door, whose name I don't recall now.
I asked if he had any clothes, dirty or not, in his bag I could wear.
I told him I was very cold. He said sure. be right over. I got dressed again.
He brought me a shirt and some socks. I was thrilled.
He said his room was freezing too and he called the front desk and told them we were both cold.
Apparently, this was the warmest it was going to get.

After he left I put on his uniform shirt and it went to my knees which was perfect. I had socks so at least I was now warm. I didn't care if he had already worn them my feet needed something this room was so cold.

In the morning I folded his shirt and put it along with his socks on the dresser.
I went into the bathroom to shower and get ready for work.
I got in the shower and did what one does.
I put shampoo in my hair and my goodness I was so damn cold.
I opened the shower curtain halfway and saw the door had swung open.
I thought if it were closed I could get it warmer in here.
I leaned forward at the waist and pushed the door to close it. (feet firmly planted in the tub)
Oh, it closed and I fell face first onto the tile floor.
I hit the floor hard with my face.
I stood up and I swore I saw stars.
It took me a minute or so to get my bearings and the room to stop spinning.

I was completely back in the shower now and I had my back to the shower head. I leaned back and rinsed my hair.
I felt something running down my face.
Because I knew the water was not hitting my face I put my hand up to my face to see what this was. It was blood. I finished rinsing my hair.
I got out of the shower and my nose would not stop bleeding. I looked in the mirror and realized I had a cut on the top of my nose and I thought I may have broken it as well. It was still really bleeding. The top and out of my nostrils. Everything on my nose was bleeding a lot.

I put a washcloth on my nose to hold the blood as I tried to clean up the blood on the floor with another washcloth. When I stood up I was so dizzy.
Then I saw blood everywhere. The floor, the sink, the tub. I grabbed a towel and began to clean up. I got another washcloth because I had bled through the first one.

I was dizzy and now nauseous.
I was freaking out that I had blood all over these white towels.
I couldn't just leave them like that. What would the motel say?
Or worse the cleaning crew.
I had to do something so I wasn't leaving a mess for others.
So I filled up the bathtub with cold water. I grabbed the ice bucket from the night before and threw that cold ice and water into the tub. I put all the towels and washcloths I had used into the tub. I left myself one washcloth to hold on my nose. I was really hoping this would help clean the towels.
I did everything while holding a washcloth on my nose with one hand.

My boss was to pick me up that morning for work.
I tried to get dressed but every time I bent over I got really dizzy and the blood would pour. So I put my head back and tried to get dressed.
I got on my panties, but I needed two hands for my bra.
I put it on and just didn't hook it.
So I put on my blouse over my unhooked bra and thought maybe my boss could help me.

Why wasn't this blood stopping?
I went back into the bathroom and hung my head over the sink as I rinsed out my washcloth and made sure the sink was left clean.
I returned to the bed and waited for my boss.

My boss arrived. I let her in and she shrieked. She helped me with my clothes and I felt so damn uncomfortable but what could I do. We did have a laugh as she tried to put on my pantyhose. Oh, the 80's.
She then called the pilot and asked him to phone the office and tell them we were going to the hospital.
I asked her to give him back the clothes on the dresser.
She teased me and said, Do I need to ask what went on last night?
I explained why I asked for his clothes, and told her that he did not leave them behind!

She left to give the clothes to the pilot and then go to the front desk as I laid on the bed on my back with a cloth on my nose. I begged her to tell them about the towels in the tub. I did not want them to be surprised. Her only concern was that I may need the room so she wanted them to know I was not checking out.
My only concern was the bloody towels and not leaving something for someone else to clean up after.

While she was doing this I took my washcloth and held it to my nose and with one hand emptied the tub water and refilled it. I saw that a great deal of the blood had been removed from the towels. I hoped soaking them some more in fresh unbloody water would do the trick.

When she returned from the front desk we left for the hospital.
I indeed broke my nose and I had a bad cut across the top that received some butterfly thing. I had a concussion and also had to get a tetanus shot. They set my nose at the hospital and boy that was fun let me tell you!  Then I was sent on my way. But I could not fly until evening. I was not allowed to fly in an unpressurized aircraft. So the next flight was not until about 6pm. It was still early morning.
My flight went to Pittsburgh then on to Erie as it did every day.

Now back at the hotel I sat on the bed and turned on the TV. I was not feeling great. I wanted to sleep but the dr told my boss that I couldn't sleep due to the concussion. I sat upright on the bed with cotton in my nose, a bandage over my nose and a big fat headache.
Every 20 minutes the phone would ring and wake me. She had someone in the office call me all day every 20 minutes. I had no time to sleep.

That night as I sat in the airport, which looked exactly like the one on TV show Wings, I felt like crap.
I knew all these people in the airport, just like on Wings.
I now had a bandage on my nose and two black eyes. As we all sat around the food counter one of the pilots I worked with asked me where my hands were in this scenario when I fell forward. Before I could answer George, my favorite captain of all time said to everyone, "Look how she's built, it's surprising she doesn't fall forward more often."  Everyone laughed and I found it funny too.  I couldn't smile without a great deal of pain so there was no laughing for me. I loved these people and I knew I would never live this down. Especially with my friend George. But at that moment in time, I just wanted to go home and be in my bed.

I did not work or fly for a few days but when I went back to work my boss informed me that when she went back to the motel to square up later that day they told her they appreciated the fact that I soaked their towels and quite frankly couldn't believe I did that. She told them that she has only known me for 1 year but she can see me worrying about such things.  Gee, wouldn't you?

Your turn.

Creeps Everywhere

I LOVED the show Designing Women in the '80s.
My husband watched it with me and would say that I was 3/4 Julia Sugarbaker and 1/4 Suzanne Sugarbaker. And some days 50-50.
While that made me laugh, I admit he was correct.

I was a fan of all the shows written by Linda Bloodworth Thomason.

Evening Shade and Hearts Afire to name a few.

Now I try not to put politics here but this recent mess with all these men doing horrific things I had to jump in.

None of it surprises me. But I have to say something about this latest.

A man said to me recently that he doesn't believe all of this because he has never seen it happen. He claims he knows no one who has ever been harassed sexually or otherwise.

I guess he lives in a cave alone on an island.
But to say he can't believe it because he hasn't seen it is the phrase that gets me. So do you believe in God? Have you ever seen him/her?
What a lame ass excuse from someone who probably is an offender.

Well, I can tell that dip stick that it does happen. I am a woman.

I have had sexual harassment most of my life.
The one time I stood up for myself was such a freeing day for me.
Scary as hell, but it felt good.
Today I could sue. If I had sued I would be sitting right now on an island sipping a cold beverage and sunning myself because I would have made big bucks. But back in the day, you didn't sue. You were afraid you'd lose your job and I know what I had to endure after I just stood up for myself. There was no HR I could get to help me.

Yesterday I read this article and it made me fume.

Linda Bloodworth Thomason wrote about her experience with Les Moonves. Boy, he sounds like a real jerk.
After reading this I thought, hey, no wonder there is nothing on CBS I watch.
They are all male driven like NCIS, Blue Bloods, Swat, Hawaii 5-O. None of these have I ever watched an episode of. The list is long of his male dominate shows and I never noticed it. I just knew that CBS had crap on prime time to me so I never went there. I can think of two shows I did watch and both are gone now anyway.

So check this article out in the Hollywood Reporter.

Interesting and very sad read to me.

What the hell is wrong with men? This shit has been going on for as long as they have been around. But it's time, this must stop!

Here is some background on the CBS news firing of head honcho-

National Correspondent Jericka Duncan, who has been reporting on CBS’ exec harassment allegations and exits, said Fager texted her after she contacted him for comment on Ronan Farrow’s Sunday New Yorker article, in which another woman alleged Fager has sexually harassed her at an office party.
The Fager text read:
If you repeat these false accusations without any of your own reporting to back them up, you will be responsible for harming me. Be careful. There are people who lost their jobs trying to harm me and if you pass on these damaging claims without your own reporting to back them up that will become a serious problem.
Earlier on Wednesday, after CBS News announced Fager’s exit, effective immediately, Fager said in a statement that CBS had “terminated my contract early because I sent a text message to one of our own CBS reporters demanding that she be fair in covering the story.”
______

That is indeed a threat to lose her job.
He said he shouldn't be fired for one text. Oh, c'mon now.
So if one steals only once should they not be arrested?
If one commits murder only once is that a get out of jail free card?
So you threaten a reporters job so she writes what you want not what she finds to be true or backs up the issues at her company. To you that is no big deal?

I know men reading will say, well this isn't as bad as that.

That is the issue here! Men never see any of this as bad.
It is her livelihood and he is threatening her to lie to protect his bad behavior.
The denigration of the women who were raped, their heads pushed down to blow them, the women who couldn't get work because they made it impossible for them to do so all have a special place in hell I can only hope.

This job for this reporter probably keeps a roof over her and her family. This job feeds her kids. She should not be intimidated to do what he wants. She should not have to lie so he can keep his job for doing what he knows is wrong.

For the love of God, this fires me up.

Now I realize I generalized here. Not all men are shit heads.

My husband has seen years of shit I have had to deal with.
It has made his eyes wide open and has made him so understanding of all of this. But does he get as upset as me? Of course not, until it happens to you, you don't fully get it. I know today as I type this that I wish I had had the courage to stand up to these jerks in the 70's. I wish in 1987 I didn't have to do what I did to this man who would not stop harassing me.
I wish in 1987 there was a Ronan Farrow and a #metoo movement because that would have given me the courage to speak up and not cry and hide.

I will leave you with something light -  (and every year prior)
