Today is a glorious day!
We have so few rainy days. This is the 2nd one in 2 weeks.
I know everyone else is in a tizzy but I am loving it.
It's a real downpour, overcast and cool. (70degrees)
Opened the windows and got fresh air. Glorious!
It's been a good week (Sun-Tues) except trying to figure out why I couldn't see everyone's new posts and why no one could see mine.
If you wish to tear out your hair, work on Blogger!
At one point I screamed. Rick, I thought, was in the workshop.
But he had just come into the house when he heard me scream.
He ran down the hall and in a panic yelled, "Margaret."
I yelled, "I am fine "
He came in to see why I was screaming.
"Oh @#$! blogger is driving me crazy. I have tried so many things for 3 days and nothing is working. I think if it takes a lot more time I will just quit blogging!"
He asked me not to scream again and he left. Totally unfazed by my being frazzled and looking at my screen with my eyes bulging out of my head.
No blood shed so off to his workshop he goes.
I thought I had it figured out Sunday night, but I was still unsure.
I wrote a test post and I had more people comment and read that than my last few blog posts. So I assumed I had fixed it and you all said you could see me. Whew, that is over! (for now)
I had a mammogram yesterday. I will never do one again in the afternoon.
I normally did them in the a.m. due to work. But I'm retired now. So when she told me they had a 3pm appointment I took it. My mindset was sure, I don't have to be at work so I can go anytime.
But here is what I forgot. No deodorant or powder underarms, under boobs, or anywhere near your boobs. So not only did I shower in the morning, but I took another one at 1pm because I needed deodorant and couldn't go stinky.
It took me longer to drive there than the whole procedure takes.
It took me 10 minutes to get there. My appointment was at 3pm. I was home by 3:34. Crazy right?
As I was taking off my top and putting on that beautiful paper top I saw they had deodorant on the shelf in the dressing room.
Ooh, they understand the issue.
The technician/woman who grabs your boobs and flops them on the plate to flatten them like a pancake was a hoot. She made me laugh and then told me to be still. Then stop being funny I told her. Then as she is manipulating my boobs I wondered if any men technicians do this.
I asked her. She said, "Would you be comfortable with that?"
Oh hell no I told her. She said that is why only women do this.
But it was over before you could even believe you were done.
I recall how embarrassed I would be when I first had a mammogram.
Now it doesn't even bother me how they just grab your boob and flop it on that plate and then move it around as if it isn't attached to me.
It's so friggin' weird but it is what it is and it is far better than a gynecological appointment! So that's done for another year.
My mom died of breast cancer at the ripe old age of 43.
It always made me worried I'd get this. Her sister had it too.
So when I found a lump at age 30 I wanted a mammogram. No one would give it to me. Everyone just told me I was too young. How stupid is that?
So I went to another doctor. Nope. Finally, I got a hospital to do it. My insurance wouldn't cover it so I paid out of pocket. I was that scared. Let me tell you that wasn't cheap even if it was in 1986.
Thankfully that small lump was nothing to worry about. Whew.
Rick asked if he was allowed in to see this. He is fascinated with my stories. He can't fathom how this boob becomes so flat. Oh trust me it does.
Nope, they won't let you in you goofball. But he kept saying he wasn't asking to watch another woman's mammogram, but my wife's.
So for shits and giggles, I told this technician how he wanted to see this.
She laughed and said she's heard this several times but NO, they are not allowed. I then shared with her how he watched his melanoma surgery and just loves this shit. She then said, "Then he'd be bored with this."
I laughed and said, "It's still boobs, he is never bored with boobs"
She just laughed and made more jokes.
This technician was so funny, warm, and personable it made this whole experience so nice. They need more like her in the medical field.
