My brave dog.

Izzy the wonder dog saw a big fuzzy spider in our house.
Where the hell did this big guy come from was my first thought quickly followed by, damn it Rick isn't here and I will have to remove it.

Like the song goes, I don't like spiders or snakes.

Why is Rick never hear when I need him?
It is Rick's job to handle all the bugs and critters.
You know those were the vows to our wedding, to honor, respect and kill all the critters.
You know just like everyone does.

Remember the last time a toad came in the back door with me?

Rick wasn't home then either. It stayed under the sofa until Rick could coax it out when he finally got home. It seemed an eternity to both Izzy and I. Izzy stared at that poor toad for a long time until Rick arrived.
Izzy was the watchdog over the big toad so it didn't harm her human.

I came downstairs to have lunch. Izzy was very busy tearing apart her teddy bear from limb to limb spitting stuffing out along the way.

Suddenly Izzy did a funny movement which made me look at her. Her jump made me look away from what I was making.  Izzy is now staring at this big fuzzy spider on the floor. Izzy backed up and went to the area rug.
Then the spider moved towards her on the floor.
Izzy jumped. Oh my big brave dog. Izzy you are 75lbs and this spider you could step on and save both our lives. But you're afraid, my big brave girl.

She did not bark, just growled under her breath at it which I find so damn funny. Not a loud growl, like she is trying to hide it.

I was going to be kind and pick it up but...
It had a proper burial instead.

I know you all will tell me not to kill the spider and how awful I am.

Damn right. I killed the spider, I'm going straight to hell while his family mourns him. I say it's a him because that sucker was huge to me. Too big for me to pick up like a daddy long legs which I do all the time. But not this furry bastard.
I tried to get it to a piece of paper so I could then put it outside. It was giving me a hard time. I swore I heard it say, 'Nah nah nah nah nah nah"

And just so you don't judge my dirty floors, it's not all dusty and debris...just some. The fuzz you see is the inside of the stuffed animal Izzy was chewing apart just before this huge guy appeared. I saw that the spider had the stuffing all over all his "feet" but I sure wasn't about to remove it - just him.

What would you have done?  How the hell do they get in my house?

Why doesn't money just appear on the floor like a critter will appear?
Or something of use? Not a spider or toad!

That is one awful looking spider! When you described it as 'fuzzy' I was thinking it was a wolf spider that carries its young on its back. Killing them with a swat sends 100s of babies every which way. I have no guilt killing spiders what so ever that get inside my house. I don't want them to breed there. By I do apologize when I kill them.

Funny you should mention toads in the house. I had a big fat one inside just last night. I opened the door to the garage and he hopped right in. I got a container from the recycling bin and put it over him, then slide the cover under him. He is now in the witness relocation protection program.

Jean, I think the pot was a good idea. I had one waiting for the toad but he would not come out. I think he was scared of us.

I had one in the house for two days, once, before he came out where I could catch him.

I use a clear plastic cup. Put it over the critter, slide a piece of thin cardboard under it and toss it outside. Most spiders are really beneficial. I use the clear cup so I can make sure the spider's still in there... don't want a surprise climbing up my arm!

At work we also use a clear cup. That's so the kids all get a chance to get a good look at it and try to ID.

Did you read yesterday's spider post?
Don't be a Sophie.

It looks like a brown recluse. I found an interesting video that goes into treatment I'd never heard of before.

Not a fan of spiders either, in fact use to be terrified of them. Am better now. But in my terror stage, one late night I came home, opened the bathroom door and there was a critter the size of a big man's fist. I picked up my cat, set him in the room and closed the door. In the morning my cat came out unharmed and the spider was gone--no trace.

A spider that big might influence me to leave the room until Rick got home. Hahaha

I agree with Mike looks like a brown recluse...nasty bite they have, best you squish it first.

Girl, I'm no fan of spiders either, and like you, I'm killing them, as soon as I can catch them, but that doesn't happen very often.(lol) I spray the outside of my front and back doors and outside windows with bug spray in case anything even thinks about coming inside, and it works.(lol) Even flies pass me by. (lol) I don't know what type of spider is which, so you never know which kind is potentially lethal. Good for you! Hugs, RO

I have a friend who was bitten by a brown recluse and almost died. I thought they weren't on the east coast. well, now doubly glad he is gone!

Ro, all those are sprayed here too. I have no yard. how the hell did it get here? I just know they wait for Rick to leave!!

Yuck, that's a creepy spider! Good for Izzy for letting you know :). I would have smashed and burned it. Karma be damned.

Abby, I didn't burn it but close.
