HE thinks HE's Funny

Today is my surgery at 230pm. This should post on my day of surgery, the 5th.
I won't be typing for a bit.
I'm not sure what to expect, but I am uneasy and scared for some reason.
Never had that before. Hopefully, this isn't foreboding.

Anyway, I am going to go back into the archives.
You all seem to enjoy Rick's torturing me and making me the butt of the joke. Sadly I do find the funny in it. I wish I didn't.
But still....damn him!  I added a couple of those here but not all.

I will be repeating some old archive posts.
Yes, I could have prepared all new ones.
But a concussion, back pain, and all things that need to be done before I am unable I just don't have it in me.

So here is the first one.

Throw Back Sort of...

I mentioned yesterday how my husband brought me flowers and I prayed they weren't from someone's yard.
I wrote this a while back. He loves to mess with me and over the last 30 years, I prefer to not be messed with. I still fall for some of the shit he pulls, some not so much. I hope I would have learned something in 30+ years.

Here are a couple of examples of things he has done to me in the past.
We were driving through Cooks Forest in PA.
We were on our way to visit his family.

We are both quiet. I am enjoying the scenery from my side of the car.
All of a sudden he starts to sniff. He keeps sniffing.
I ask, "What do you smell? "

"Don’t you smell anything?"

"No, I don’t."   sniff sniff

He opens his window all the way and sniffs some more.

“Oh yea. I smell hot sausage pepper and onion sandwiches.
I’m guessing about 2 miles down the road. You really don't smell this?”

I am now hanging my head out the window like a fool sniffing the air.
"I really don’t smell anything at all Rick beside the pine trees.
"Wow." He sniffs again. "I really smell it now, you really don't? Try it again."

So I get up on my knees and am hanging out the window like a dog or jackass sniffing.
Then there it is – a clearing and a big silver food truck with a sign that says STOP. Hot sausage pepper and onion sandwiches.

"There it is. Oh my God  Rick I can’t believe you smelled this."

He pulls over and says, "Well that made me hungry. Let’s have lunch."

I walk up to the window and place my order and tell the man that my boyfriend could smell these sandwiches 2 miles up the road. I went on and on like a damn fool. The sandwiches were good and we sat outside on the picnic tables and had a nice little lunch on a beautiful sunny fall day.

On the way home driving through Cooks Forest again I see a sign that says, “HOT SAUSAGE SANDWICHES 2 MILES UP THE ROAD”

I look at Rick and he began to laugh.

"There was a sign coming down here that I didn't see wasn’t there?"

"Yep."

"So I made a complete ass of myself to that man when I ordered my sandwich?"

"Well I was winking at him over your head – you were cute – it wasn’t that bad."
He was laughing like crazy at this point.

So not funny. I can’t believe I fell for his shit yet again.

"Oh, someday I am so going to get you back."

"Uh-huh."
______________
When I was living in Ohio and he was in Pennsylvania he came to visit one weekend with a beautiful potted plant that flowered.
It was really nice. I had it in my apartment in a beautiful container and everyone commented on it.

One evening I had some friends over and 2 of the women kept asking me the name of this plant. I told them that I didn't know the Latin proper name but Rick said they call it a “neighbor” plant. I continue on, "You know like this one here is called Epipremnum aureum I believe but generally, you just call it a pothos plant."

Everyone nods their head and that is that.
A year later I am visiting Rick and we are taking a walk in the early evening. We get to this house on the corner of his block that has been vacant for some time and we are discussing possible reasons why it hasn't been inhabited because it was such a pretty Victorian house. As we walk around the one side of the rod iron fence I notice all of these “neighbor” plants around the fence and I point and say, “Wow look at all these neighbor plants.”

Immediately Rick begins to laugh his ass off. Then it dawns on me….he stole a plant from this yard and he made up this name. I ask him if that is indeed what he did to me yet again and he admitted to this crime.

"Why do you keep doing this to me? I told people this was called a neighbor plant. I look like an idiot now"

"Well you’ll believe anything and it's so much fun. How could I have told you after you told me that story?"

"You make me look like a damn fool, Richard."

"Nah, you’re a cute gullible woman."

"Yes, that is exactly what the paper will say.  "Cute gullible woman kills man for always messing with her, jury lets her off because he was a charming sadistic shit"

_______________
One evening a few years ago we were watching Jeopardy he yelled out the question. "What is a Two-Toed Sloth?"  I begin to laugh.
He paused the television to ask why I think that is so funny.
Do I not believe him?  I call him critter boy so why wouldn't critter boy know the name of this animal?
"Seriously a Two-Toed Sloth? That doesn't even sound like a real thing. You can make up things better than that. C’mon a two-toed sloth sounds like a neighbor plant to me."

He laughs and says, "Honestly this is a real animal, Margaret. "

"Yea, sure it is."

He unpauses the television and the questions was “What is a two-toed sloth?”

DAMN HIM!

And yet again I end up the fool.
_____________

I asked once while at the lake about this land mass jetting out by this marina.
He gave it a name. I never believed him. I would just laugh when he mentioned it. He too would laugh so I was convinced he was lying.

Five years later I learned from an article in the Laker Magazine that it was indeed called what he said it was.

I just choose to not believe him now. But that too will probably bite me in the ass, you'll see.

Countdown

I am busy believe it or not.
Trying to get a lot done while I can bend (sort of) and twist (sort of)
I won't be allowed to do either from Wednesday on.
Getting some food and I must drink gatorade before surgery. I HATE gatorade.  I find it sweet and gross like jello.

While I'm away I will share some archive posts.
I really don't know exactly how I'll feel and I think I will be laying low for a few days after the surgery. So I put those posts in the pipeline. If not, I will write and not use those.

Hopefully, the next time I 'talk' to you, I will be better than ever.
I wish they could do a face and boob lift at the same time at no extra charge.  Wouldn't that be nice? Heck, I'd skip the facelift if I could only choose one.

I need to get this surgery done before the asshat in charge takes away my medicare. And when did we elect musk?  Has anyone heard from Vance?
musk must have given a helluva lot of money to the asshat to be in this position. ARGH!

Tell me again, how will my eggs be cheaper with tariffs? He is screwing our friends to the north and that alone is enough to make me lose my mind.

Ah, I'm not gonna think about it right now. I need to be calm and positive for what is upcoming. I need to concentrate on the positive.

See you all very soon.

Spring has Sprung

It's springtime here.
Did we see a robin or two?  Yes, but that isn't how we know.
Are there big green buds on the trees?
Oh, lots of 'em but that's not how we know it's spring.

We know because Ugly Naked Guy is back outside in all his glory.
It was only 55/60 degrees - go put on a shirt mister!
But I think that is against his religion.

Rick had the garage doors both opened while he worked in his workshop.
The garage doors face this man's backyard.
He waved to Rick.  Rick waved back and hoped to God he didn't come over. But he came to the fence.  Luckily Rick said he had on longer board shorts so you could see them below his belly. Unlike the last few years where we could never see shorts and he could have been naked for all we knew. It also appears he's lost some weight. Hopefully this does not make him think, "gee i look great more nudity for me to share"

To quote Mr Roger's, 'won't you be my neighbor?'
Then you too can enjoy this.

Firing, Crashing and Whistling

My cousin was hit by the orange fatso in charge.
She has worked at the VA for over 22 yrs.
She told me she got the email of death yesterday.

The rumor around the office was only higher management and she is middle management. She was hysterical. Not for bad performance, not for any good reason. So once again giving our veterans top-notch medical etc is not something Mango Mussolini would ever do. She was not a diversity hire or anything like that. She is just a plain ole federal worker who has given everything to her job. I know she had a pension but I was afraid to ask her about it. I am certain he won't pay out her pension. She is not union so that doesn't help her. I didn't know what to say. She used to be a republican and after she voted for him the 1st time she realized it was wrong and jumped ship. Why doesn't this happen to the numbnuts who think this will make my eggs cheaper?

He has called those who were hired under DEI cancer.  Nice right?
So you could be a woman (insert brown or black) who worked in the gov't for years, did all the right things, kept getting promoted due to her good work, and then being told you are fired because 25 years ago you were hired as a woman.

If you think this is a bad idea, don't support it for future hiring.  While that too is wrong, he's already done that. Did he have to go back into the archives and call these people a cancer and fire them?

I had deactivated FB long ago. So recently I think I told you I did the same for threads and Instagram.  But I forgot some of the folks on Instagram I was following and I wanted to find them on BlueSky social. So I opened Instagram and got the names I needed. I went to deactivate and it said I had to wait 7 days. IT HAS NEVER DONE THAT.  I don't like being controlled. Argh!

I also saw where "they" made it like I was following the asshat again.
No matter how many times I delete it, the @#$% comes back.
He wonders why he has had more assassination attempts than any other president has. Hmm...

The airline mid-air crash was horrific. I can't fathom this kind of pain for their loved ones.  I read that there were 14 members of the US Ice Skating team on board.  As I was flipping channels this morning I heard a "news'" person say, "I didn't know that this airport was in VA, I thought it was DC."
She should have known that being a "journalist" or at the very least not making herself look silly on air.
Then again perhaps she wanted others not from the area to know that.
I will give her that, instead of just being a 20-something bobblehead.
Everything you think is DC is in Northern VA. The Pentagon is another.

In other news -
Rick was practicing his damn whistling yesterday and as I walked down the hall I heard him in the kitchen. He actually made a real whistle sound. I heard it and was about to say something when like a kid, he turned and said, did you hear that?  Yes, I did.
But sadly it was one time.
He saw his ENT and they don't think it will come back.  But he is so stubborn, which in this case is very good.  Well, maybe. 😀
They also scratched up his throat box and something else when he was intubated.
He knew that and he was insisting that but no one would admit to that.
But the ENT did. So there ya have it.

I am treating myself to a pedicure today.  Charge it I say.
I shouldn't but I so need the R&R it provides and it will be nice to be in the hospital with prettier toes. :-)

Floating Boobs Flashback.

I have to go with Rick to the doctor today so I went back into my archives and am posting a flashback. Lots of you are new here so you may not have read this one. Oh, I remember it so vividly too!

"Bob and Sue" in this story were a trip. And guess what they are now divorced. Surprise! And for the story, Sue was anorexically thin so she thought anyone carrying an extra 20lbs was a big fat pig. She said as much when we (the neighborhood gang) were all at a winery.  She was a piece of entitled work. Her husband we loved.  We never understood them as a couple.

Did she say Penis?

I made an appointment to see an ENT.
It's the only doctor I haven't seen and by God let's keep this doctor train moving.  In all truthfulness it's pitiful. I made an appointment and the soonest they can get me in is April. When I told my husband this he asked, "Are you sure you heard correctly, April is a long wait" and he laughed.
"Bite me, Rick, did you hear me?"
Making fun of me is his favorite sport and it has been for 38 years.

My hearing is not getting any better I know, but Jeez, since I moved here I've had every issue there is. Before I got here I took one thyroid pill and except for gentle yoga ripping my meniscus, I was fine.

We were watching TV and I began to laugh.
Rick asked, "What is so funny?"
I repeated what I thought I heard and with the woman saying penis.
Rick said, "OMG, that is not what she said. But what you thought she said is much funnier, maybe you should write for TV.  Watching TV/Movies must be so interesting to you."
HA HA Funny Boy.

Well, that did it!
I am old, it's time for the hearing aids.
As my father told me time and time again, "It's that damn music you listen to so loud. You're going to go deaf!"
Well, it apparently worked. :-)
Although when he got his hearing aid at age 80 I said to him, "Must be all that damn music you listen to so loudly Dad."
That made him laugh and call me a smart ass. (That by the way could have been my name growing up I heard that so much.)

Speaking of music there will be a Sly and The Family Stone documentary in February on Hulu. It was done by Quest Love. I can't wait to see this.
I LOVED Sly music.  Funk and a bit of rock.

Leaving the surgeon's office Thursday I was so happy to have a date for my surgery. I have never looked forward to surgery before like I am with this one. Feb 5th.  Soon!

On the way home, Sirius was playing some damn fine 60/70s rock 'n roll.
I was singing my heart out alone in my car.
Sly was one of the songs. That became an earworm for me all day.
I finally put in a CD of Sly's greatest hits as I folded some clothes.
After Feb 5th I can dance to Sly again...well that is my hope.

I am having laminectomies. I had one as I said long ago (80s)
Huge scar on my back.
This time it is done so differently that it floored me. I stayed in the hospital for 5 days the 1st time. I am having this done in the surgical suite of the dr.s office located upstairs. It's a small incision and they shave off the protruding part of my disc pressing on the nerve endings. I have two locations where this will be done. So same surgery but done differently. Wow.
When I said that he laughed and said, "A lot has changed Peggy in 40 years." Sadly so has my body.

The surgery is 2 hrs and after I awake from anesthesia I will go home.
No hospital stay which thrills me to no end. They don't have food in hospitals for a celiac person. That alone is pitiful.

I assumed a few days in the hospital and not eating anything but having juice and coffee. And no I can't eat jello it's too damn sweet.
So I assumed I'd just not eat until I came home or if Rick brought me things from home. Even their broth had wheat in it last time and I got very sick.
So I am thrilled to be able to come home where I can have a cup of soup or whatever I wish to eat and to know it's safe. Besides I'd prefer home to a hospital anytime. Rick can be my nurse.
Wait, all he will want to help me with is a sponge bath.
Scratch Rick off the nurse list. 😉

4-6 weeks or more doing nothing is the worst part I think.
Dear Lord that's a long time.  For a type A personality, this is the difficult part. I've been doing nothing for far too long!  I'll give it 4 weeks. Then I'm dancing in the kitchen with Rick again! I miss our dancing in the kitchen.

Adoption, Please.

I saw a video post that stated that we have to check our Instagram accounts and other meta accounts because trumpy dumpy was attached and would show us following him and his fellow fascists.

I laughed. How paranoid was my thought. But something made me look.  Oh yea, it showed I was now following the 2 nazis.
So of course they were immediately deleted.

Then I opened my Instagram the next day and on top where the stories are was that fat fuckers orange face. I commented Fuck You and hit send. If I'm lucky he'll deport me.  Then I deleted the entire account so I would not see his face. It seems no matter how many times I delete them they come back.

Now I am in the process of deleting threads, Instagram, and of course FB.
The only issue is Amazon. Can I live without Amazon and does the brown nose trumpeter Bezos get to have me sending him money? It's hard to fight fascism when you're shallow.
Oh, what's a girl to do?

Right now I'm just looking for a nice family to adopt me and Rick.
Adopted by those living outside the U.S., preferably an English-speaking country. I'm not certain I can learn a new language at my age.
However, I am fluent in swear words in Italian if that helps.

My end-of-the-week memes.

ok I know to some this is sick.  I am sick so to me this is funny. BTW, my doctor and his PA were shown this and they loved it and I had to send to his phone. He said they all love gallow humor.

God I love the Brits and their humor/sarcasm!

This makes me angry. Our media has failed us big time.

Snow in the South

I was to see my surgeon on Wednesday, the 22nd.
However, the weather Gods had another plan.

I knew it was going to snow. Dear me the weather people here acting like it was armageddon.  I wasn't worried about driving to my appointment the following morning but I admit I was afraid of falling. Since their parking lot would be nothing more than ice and some snow.  They wouldn't be salting their parking lot since they don't salt roads other than highways.

I got myself moving at 7am and was just dreading this whole thing. I stood at the coffee machine trying to figure out what I was going to wear.
Most of my boots have heels and the ones that don't are just cute with a nice slick bottom.  What was I going to wear on my feet to prevent me from slipping?  Hell, I had that bad fall on a sunny 50-degree day with dry pavement.

Rick asked if I wanted him to go with me.
I laughed and said, "Mister you now have a goofy gait and struggle. We both can't be down on the ground like turtles on their backs"
That made him laugh.
He replied, " I see your point but it would make me feel so much better if I am with you."
"So you want to die together is that it?"
"Exactly"
I just gave in, knowing it was damn foolish to do so.

At 7:30am the doctor's office called me to cancel due to the weather.
YEAH!  She apologized and said can you come in the next day at 2p?

I am now heading off to the doctor today.  It's still very cold and icy but it's also sunny. If your parking lot is getting sun it should be fine. My driveway was a skating rink which is now just dry pavement so I am certain Rick doesn't need to go to the doctor with me.  I'm a big girl, I can handle it.

I wanted to also mention 2 things -
1. We were watching TV last night when a man woke up because he heard someone breaking into his home. He asks loudly, "Who is it?" twice.
For some reason this makes me laugh.  As if the burglar is going to say, "Hey, It's Bob!"

2. I've told you many times here how I was always so embarrassed as a kid of my very ethnic mom/family. A stereotype of an Italian woman in every way.
Friends always said we had funny-sounding food but yet loved it all when they ate at my house. (If you're new here, this link above in blue from '09 explains it well I think)

I was sent a message from a close high school friend and it sent me a link to the FB Class of '74 page.  Now I have deactivated FB (and soon all things meta) but I activated it to see what she wanted me to see.
OMG, it was a photo of my 1st grade class. Most of which I went to high school with too. There were only 160 kids in my graduating class and I had known most since 1st grade.
I made a comment to David who mentioned me in the picture.
Then a woman from 1st grade through 12th commented.  I am going to show you what she wrote. I have thought about her many times so it was nice to be able to chat a bit.

So what used to embarrass me now makes me smile.
Who knew it made others happy as well. (this was before my mom died obviously, not my new mom so this was when we were 13 and younger)

Eli's Coming

Last evening I was watching some late-night TV. I heard some of Stephen Colbert’s monologue and one of my favorite lines was this –
'In the next 4 years, we have to live by Airport Rules – Calories don’t count, and it’s perfectly reasonable to have a vodka tonic at 8am.'
I am now going to live by Airport Rules!

Music has a way of transforming me.  With all that Cheeto shit on TV, we’ve been listening to a lot of music. The other night I was awake yet again.
I was feeling okay, but I just can’t sleep.  I flipped on the TV and nothing appealed to me. I saw that Rick got a message from a woodworker he follows on YouTube so I went to YouTube.  I didn’t care about his ‘word porn’ so I was perusing

This video came up of a young good-looking man.  I have no idea of his age. But I believe he could be my grandson. I am guessing early 30s.
His name was Sebastian Duran. Anyhoo, he is really into music.
He said that older people always say “their music was better” He went on to say how much it pissed him off. So someone sent a video of a band from the 60s/70s. He was blown away.
He admitted growing up he was into Metal and Hip Hop.
Strange combo to me but it is what it is.

So he opened up to whoever was watching and said, send me someone you think was good back in the day and I will play it here and we’ll discuss.  Fast forward to several videos later and he admitted we boomers were correct. I had to laugh.
He also hated country until he was sent a couple of country songs.

I watched the video of Three Dog Night from 1969.  It was Eli’s Coming.
He was impressed with the vocals.
Not one of my favorite songs from them but I couldn’t wait to hear his comments on this song. Due to copyright infringement, he had to stop the video and pause a few times. Weird but that’s what he said.

After several videos, he said many times that he was impressed that back in the day they played their own instruments had showed such passion as well as having outstanding vocals.  I had to laugh because I say that about today's music. Not all of it, but a good majority.  I don't wish to see women in their underwear autotuned and "singing"
Janis Joplin and Linda Rhonstsat could sing damn it.
They didn't need a gimmick. (did you see the woman on SNL Saturday - that was not talent to me)
It reminds me of when I play a game and I am losing I'll just lift my shirt and Rick is so distracted I win. Never fails. (works w/cornhole) But I digress...

I was wearing my bone-conducting headphones and I was chair dancing.  After that, I watched another and another. I was transported to my youth. Apparently, I was singing too. In the morning Rick asked, “Were you singing?”  OMG. I didn’t think it was out loud, besides, how the hell did he hear that yet when he’s sitting across from me he doesn’t hear me?
Ah, male hearing, I guess.

Rick asked what I was singing to. I said the first song was Eli’s coming.
He laughed at me.
When I was a kid, I spent many hours in my bedroom listening to my transistor radio or playing records. Books and music were my escape from my life.  Music is everything. I can hear a song and smell the summer grass back when I used to listen to a song in my backyard with my transistor.

It was the spring of 1970 when I begged my father to let me go to see Three Dog Night playing at the college in town.  Gannon was in downtown Erie. I lived in the burbs. This would be my very first concert.

I wasn’t old enough to drive ( I just turned 14) so my father would have had to take me.
My friend Susan and I both begged our fathers. Our fathers spoke to one another.  I finally got the okay. I bought the tickets with my allowance because my father said he wasn’t paying for this hippie noise. I honestly believe I only got to go for two reasons. My mom had just died in sept '69 and it was very fresh also because Sue's father talked with my father.

My father drove us there and her dad was picking us up.
I remember what I wore.
Red, White, and Blue big, but varying size stripes Bobbi Brooks bell bottom pants with a red shirt.  OMG.  I’d love to see a picture of that! I thought I was da bomb!

Susan and I begged my father not to drop us off in front of the college entrance.
I mean to tell you that to me was the height of embarrassment at age 14.
My father finally agreed.
He dropped us off about a block and a half away. We were walking and we were so excited.
Then Sue said, “Look your dad is following us.”
My dad was basically next to us while we were on the sidewalk he was going so slow to stay with us. Now I find it funny.
At the ripe old age of 14, I did not!

All I remember is the joy I felt, how grown up I felt around all these college-age kids, and how much the music was like my records.
I loved every minute of it.
Sue’s dad picked us up and we couldn’t stop talking and going on.
He finally told us to settle down.

But I will never forget it. It was a great experience for me.
The beginning of my loving live rock ‘n roll.

I love that music evokes so much and so many feelings.
You too can laugh at this 1969 video.

Trying to Stay Warm.

**There was a M*A*S*H marathon on TV Land on Monday.
The show holds up to me.
It was over 50 years ago when it began. (1972)
Had to avoid the cheating, lying, asshole in charge.
When did we vote for Musk?  Oh yeah, after he bought Cheeto.

**Rick had a Device Check appointment for his pacemaker. He’s had that done twice now.  They turned it up a notch this time. They asked him about his sleep which is almost as bad as mine.  They think that turning this up will help him sleep. He complained that he felt great but needs a nap after a workout. They said this should help. I was not there.
I would have had so many damn questions. I asked him the questions and he didn’t know. Lordy, that drives me crazy.

**It's not that you asked, but yes, he is still trying to whistle. Since I have to listen to this, I can tell you he is getting better, but it’s not the same.
In the years past, he has remarked that my voice is white noise.
He thinks he is so funny.
I wish his whistling would become white noise to me!!
I need it to get warm again so that I can't hear him.
‘They’ said it is normally 52 degrees today.
However, I awoke to 10 degrees. The high is 34. If it gets warm, Rick will return to his workshop, and he can whistle his little heart out. But he is underfoot now.

When we first retired my mom asked how I was dealing with us being together 24/7.
I explained that he leaves the house at 9ish and stays in the workshop between 5-530p.  So it’s like he goes to work and it works. 😊
Now I understand the question!

**I see my eye doctor about Betty.  I need new glasses. I lost the arm on my glasses. Rick attempted to put them back together, but it didn’t last. I was so embarrassed when I got home from the Walmart grocery store and realized I had them on and talked to people. They must have thought I was crazy. But Rick insisted that I looked like a Walmart shopper. Yeah, that is what is so embarrassing!

** After that nasty fall of mine I felt like I was run over by a truck for days. As that subsided, I just had a hard time taking a deep breath.  I have had fractured and broken ribs before. Once from Rick hugging me and lifting me. (He doesn’t know his strength.) I figured there was nothing that could be done but rest etc.

For some reason, I have had a great deal less pain since the fall.
Another way to say it is on a pain scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst. I was a 10 or 12 most days. Then the fall came and I’m a 6. I can deal with a 6. I don’t like it, but my eyes are not rolling back into my head from pain.  A 6 is not excruciating.
I don’t need any pain medication for a 6.  So, I am happy about that.
But I was still having this ‘can’t take a deep breath thing. I held my ribcage to bend especially. You know to get a pot out of the cabinet kind of bend.

Then this past Friday night I told Rick I was going to sit on the sofa. He was thrilled to hear this. I told him to take his ugly chair, I was feeling okay enough to sit anywhere. Then I tried to lay on my right side on the sofa. The idea of laying is so damn appealing after 10 months let me tell you!

Rick kept saying, be careful, be careful. You see I could NEVER lay on my sides during all of this. But I felt like I could do it, so I did it ever so slowly.
I heard and felt a very, very deep POP.  Rick heard it too.
I almost threw up.  We were both quiet.
Rick was waiting for me to say something.
I said, “Oh Whoa”
I was frozen for a minute.  Then I moved and the pain didn’t come with it, in fact, I could now take a deep breath!!!!! What the hell?

Rick thinks my rib may have just been dislocated and it popped back into place.
I don’t know what it was but I feel so much better. I’m a 6/7 depending on the time of day.  My left hand is still numb like I got a shot of nonvaccine into it. But my pain is far less.  I see the doctor on Wednesday to see the direction we’re going in. I can’t wait to share this with him and see what he thinks this POP was and why did the fall made me feel better.  It should be interesting.

I can’t tell you all that I’ve done since this happened. I just don’t wish to be still.
Dear Lord, I’ve been still enough for far too long! I can’t walk for long. My leg and back are still bad but I can move. I’ve mostly been cleaning but it actually felt good to clean. Man, I’m sick.

**Because we don’t watch football, and there were so many games on our TV. (Playoffs and College.)
We decided to play backgammon and listened to rock ‘n roll loudly.
Then we watched an old movie that makes me cry every time.
Rick laughs because he doesn’t think it’s a sad film. He thinks it funny and uplifting. It is. Bonnie Hunt is the writer and I love all the movies she has written along with past tv shows. Always with heart.

The movie is called ‘Return To Me’ I find it to be a heartwarming film.
It is with David Duchovny, Minnie Driver, Carroll O’Connor, and Robert Loggia to name a few. I find the show is the perfect combo of comedy and drama.
If you’ve never seen it and you prefer movies that aren’t comic books or doom-type scenarios like me, you may enjoy this. This is just adults and a dog.

My God the part with the Dog staring at the front door waiting for someone to come home makes me cry Every.Damn.Time.

Mojo, Ceasefire and Memes

My calendar is full for this week and next.  All medical of course.  Damn how this frustrates me. But it is what it is so I march on.

You all know about that terrible fall.  Still so damn sore. However, the back pain I've been dealing with is far less since the fall.  It has increased my left hand's numbness/tingling, and boy, this feels funny to type. Did I knock something where it should be?

I have to have one more test this week and it will determine which direction we need to go for this surgery.  I am praying no fusion!!!!!!
So as of next Wednesday, I should know what I am doing for certain. But it looks like I'm too far gone for the spinal cord stimulator.

In the meantime.  Rick is still trying to get his Mojo back in the kitchen.
As you know until his stroke he was the cook around here.  He is far better than me.  But after the stroke, he has not done too well. But working in his workshop has been very very cold of late so he putters around the kitchen.

He stood in the pantry for a long time and I asked what he was looking for.
He said, "Ideas"  I just chuckled and said, "Good luck with that."
He asked if I was hungry for anything. No, not even that hungry.
Then he went to the fridge. He is pulling things out, then back to the pantry.
He said, "This is like chopped.  This what we have and I'm going to make something good damn it."  I just smiled and hobbled back to The Chair.

Well damn if this wasn't a good meal. I wasn't even hungry but once I tasted that chicken I was hooked. And chicken is not my favorite. I won't bore you with the meal but I was more excited that he is back to cooking great food because I hate cooking!  Just in time, I'd say.

So now I just need my Mojo back.  I'm tired of being a mess. My hairdresser said to me yesterday that sick Peg isn't funny. She went on to say how she looks forward to me visiting because I cheer her up and make her laugh. That was nice to say, however pain has a way of making things not so funny or making me all that talkative.

Speaking of which, Rick doesn't like me being so quiet either. It unnerves him. I find it funny that everyone thinks I am their entertainment but I too, hope to feel like seeing the funny more often.  Soon, soon, I hope.
__________

How about Biden getting this ceasefire before he left?
I hope we get the hostages home soon.
I am certain that the orange buffoon will somehow say this is bad, or he could have done it sooner etc. He will find fault.  He is so awful, just despicable.

And we all know that wanting Greenland and Canada is coming from the east, as in Putin, his buddy. He isn't even smart enough to locate the country on a map/globe.

Then we have the fires.  My God's words can not fully articulate the devastation and loss of life in every form.  It is so difficult to watch and it is so damn sad.  We donated to Red Cross because we didn't know what else to do from here.
To toss blame when you know nothing or to lie and start rumors is as bad as looting or starting the damn fire.  While the tRump is an ass this was so full of hate and venom that it made me sick.  During a disaster?

A woman on my next-door app said her son was going to fight fires in CA and she was livid because it was a liberal state.
OMG, my head could explode at the ignorance and stupidity. But she has Christian under her picture. Christian? Does she know the meaning of the word?  Okay so when the floods, tornados, or hurricanes happen in a southern red state like NC a few months ago, we should let them all just die? My God the stupidity and hateful ignorance is mind numbing.
All I can hope for is when her house is on fire and the red truck pulls up they will ask about her political affiliation and then refuse to save her home because it is the wrong side.

This meme below talks about a book that I just put on hold at my library.
Have any of you read this book by Octavia  Butler?
Just like Nostradamus said, 'fire, floods and the antichrist and then will begin WWIII.

Gee on that high note, I will leave you with some memes.

I do think I may need this soon.

Entitled

Rick and I watch a show called Special Forces.  I really enjoy it.
I could NEVER do what these men and women do. Nor would I wish to.
This is no soft show like Survivor.
I did not think I'd like it when I first saw this. I thought it would be something only my husband would be watching. But I really liked it.

I always find it amazing how these "famous folks" behave.  They could be Olympians, actors/actresses, musicians, professional athletes, etc.
This is the Green Berets and most of the athletes think this will be easy and even they find out it's not easy at all.

Now if I were asked to go on a show like this, I'd watch it first. Duh.
Then I could see if I really could/would do this.
I love how some try and fight the fear, and the pain and endure through all the difficulties mental and physical. But mental is a huge component.

Some are so entitled it makes both of us talk back to the TV.
The two who walked away on the first day both said something about they didn't think it'd be so difficult. I don't know how you could watch this and not see that this is difficult. One of the Olympians I think said she had been training for 2 months prior to this to help her do well. To me that was smart.

Denise Richards is an actress but other than marrying Charlie Sheen I don't know anything she has done. She told the Green Berets (special forces) she was a Bond Girl once.  I think she may be a housewife reality show person too. I have never watched one but I think I read it somewhere. I could be very wrong. But she seems like that type.

This woman was a piece of work. "can't carry this it's too heavy."
" They are so f-ing mean"
"I can't f-ing keep going, I have never walked this f-in' far in my life".
"I hurt so f-ing much." and on and on and on.
She said fuck so many times we really didn't hear much of her whining because they had to beep her.
Thank God for captions so we didn't miss a minute of the constant whining.

She asked to go home on the 1st day. She said she hurt too much.
I read that she ruptured her breast implants when she jumped off a bridge.
She never told anyone she said that she ruptured her breasts on the show.
I read she waited until she got home. Now she is claiming the show won't pay her to have them fixed.  C'mon, you signed your life away before you started the show. Don't act like this is new to you. She actually said I guess I didn't know what I signed. Oh, please.
Entitled and stupid is a great combo.

Then there is the 'Praise the lord' by Stephen Baldwin.
We were shocked he was not spouting his religious mumbo jumbo.
But boy was he a complainer about EVERYTHING and anything. "I'm too old to do this"
Gee what did you think this show was about, a spa resort?
At one point Rick said to me, "He's ugly inside."
I just agreed.  He does not seem like a nice man, just an entitled one.

When Baldwin was asked who he was and what he did for a living, he was so put off, I'm an actor as if these military men would know.
I don't know of any movie he's been in since the 80s. So I had to laugh when they said, "Oh, Baldwin Your brother is a big actor, isn't he?"  Or something to that effect, I thought his head would explode when they did the close-up of his eyes.
Rick just said, "Ooh, nerve hit"
But he whined that he was too old and he had things to do so he told them he was leaving on day 1. He was bad at everything including walking. No lie.

I think Rick and my commentary should be a TV show in itself.
Some of Rick's comments are hysterical.
Rick was so serious when he asked me why this one woman would wear fake eyelashes in this environment.  Does she put them on every day?
He said, "When they wake them up in the middle of the night to do drills she doesn't have time to put on lashs."
So I explained the difference between fake eyelashes and extensions.
Hers were extensions. She doesn't take them on and off, they adhere to her lashes like hair extensions on your head.

Color me shocked that he even noticed her eyelashes, I mean they are above her breasts.

Woman Down

 It was only 9 days into 2025 and I'm on a roll...literally.

It's cold here. 21 when I woke up. 38 high today. We are to begin a storm, with the possibility of 1-3 inches then change over to rain and ice and other fun things of this nature.

I wanted a couple things from the grocery store.
I knew I needed Rick to go with me but, oh, how I hate to bring him.

But, I asked if he'd drive me to the store knowing we'd get more than the 10 items on my list.

I thought about giving him a list and going alone. However, I remember the last time I did this, he spent over $300 and missed some things on my list.

As we enter I remind him, only things on the list!
He promises.

Ooh, look, a mini red chocolate cake. It goes in our cart. I laugh and shake my head. Then he's buying all these things we don't need, like cream soda. I've known you 38 years, and I have never heard you utter the words cream soda, let alone see you drink it.
I remind him that property taxes are due, just our list.
He laughs and off he goes. $153 for less than 10 items on my list.

We get out to the parking lot and he is loading up the cart and I am leaning on it as I have to do now.  He is done and I told him I'd take the cart back. It was only 3 cars away.  No problem I swear to him.  Oops.

I put the cart in the "cart hotel" and I turned to go back to the car.
My leg/back gave out and down I went. In the middle of the parking lot.
My baseball cap flew off my head and I came right out of my shoes.
I lay on the ground for a minute. It felt like I was vibrating. I hurt and I was trying to get up when Rick saw me. All of a sudden I am surrounded by a bunch of men trying to help me. I was freaking embarrassed!!

I got to my car with Rick's help. I opened the door, put one foot inside then walked out and vomited.  Twice.  Just Lovely.   As if lying on the ground in the middle of the parking lot wasn't bad enough.

Rick got me home. I brushed my teeth. I hobbled to the ugly chair and sat for a bit.  As the night went on I became very very sore.
My left side ribcage is so sore - how the hell did that get hurt?
My left boob (side boob) is sore to the touch. What?  My boob?  Honestly!

So here I sit at 6:20am sore and hurting. Rick is fast asleep and of course, I've been awake for hours.

Because of the bad weather on its way I am staying indoors until my neurosurgeon appointment on Tuesday.
I will be wrapped in bubble wrap.

Back to Regular Programming

Hello Blogger Buddies.

How was your holiday?
I hope you enjoyed all the time with family and friends.

I hope you are all warm and not dealing with all the snow and blizzards around the country. We are very cold, but there is no white stuff.
We had rain and then some black ice.
Having fallen last year on the black ice on my patio I only looked outside.
I can barely walk as it is, I do not need to fall.

First Rick had what we thought was just a bug from the gym.
But it turned ugly after Xmas, for both of us.  Oh, this stomach bug was a bear.
Thank God we have 2 bathrooms.
We are over that now but yesterday he returned to the gym.
I said, please keep the germs there I can't take any more of this.
Besides, Rick isn't normally around people much, so the gym must be the culprit.

Rick did not go to the gym for almost 2 weeks. Yesterday when he got home he was hurting.  I asked if it was worth it. He said it was, "I think".
This morning he told me even his ass hurt. I laughed. Then he said to just wait, you are going to be having PT after surgery, and see if you like it if I laugh. Touché mister.

What else occurred while I was gone?
Hmm...Well, President Jimmy Carter passed away.  This was the first presidential election I could vote in. I was 20 years old and I couldn't wait to vote. I did vote for him. I hated what he did to the airline industry by deregulating it. It was the beginning of the end. He so disappointed me in that regard. But better than what was to come after him!
Aside from the Camp David Accord, I thought he was a better human than a president. But look what we've got now, Musk pulling Donald's strings.
God, why couldn't he have gone to jail like he should have after all these crimes?
Rich and White get you a free pass, doesn't it?

Rick and Peg watched way too much streaming TV over the holiday.
We got sucked into the 6 episode show on HBO/MAX called Juror #2.
Oh, that was so good. It is a Clint Eastwood movie.  I find him to be a horrific actor but the movies he makes and directs are always very good.  Real old fashion movies. No comic book heroes, no doomsday trilogies, no kid movies. Real adult fashion movie with dialogue and nothing blows up. It's worth the viewing.

We had our anniversary on the 31st.
Normally we do something. Even if it's just dinner and home. Which is my favorite thing to do. But this year we just stayed home for obvious reasons. But my husband made creme brulee.  I closed my eyes and dozed off for a bit. I awoke that afternoon to see the creme brulee coming out of the oven. God, I love that guy.
It's my favorite and it's gluten-free too. So that was my gift because we say, NO GIFTS. But this was a nice one. So that evening I had my gift and it was delicious.

Family and friends text to say Happy Anniversary.  Everyone remembers our anniversary because it's on NYEve.  That helps Rick too. 😁
My niece sent me a photo that her mom showed her of Rick and me the year we met.  It was 1987.  We were just babies.
She sent it to a group text.  OMG the comments.  They were all so funny.

I'll leave you with 1987 Rick and Peg.
Don't laugh about my hair, the shaved sides - hey it was the 80s.
It's been almost 40 years.
We've only been married 31 years. (1993)
It went so fast.
So many highs and lows. That's life as Frank Sinatra would say.
And this man has given me a great one.

                                                        2022
Rick hates this pic. He was so much heavier and now he looks more like an aged above picture. LOL.  Me?  I don't know who this white haired woman is. But it is obvious that her husband never gets her in a picture. He is 6'2 and she is 5'1 barely.

I have several of these selfies. I have posted them over the years and my cousin's daughter took them all and put them in a frame. She gave us this as a gift last Xmas. It's a hysterical photo to see on the wall. I want to display it. I think it's funny. Rick laughs at me and I remind him of our Hershey's Tour and that picture. That made him laugh and realize yes, this is us, let's frame it and not regret it.

We went to Hershey PA many years ago. (90s) We had a tour and then we took this ride that was similar to a roller coaster going through dark tunnels etc. It didn't go real fast but we got to see things from behind the scenes in the kitchen this way.  It was interesting until we had fans blow on us and the guy in front of us reeked of B.O.    OMG it was so awful. We were hoping it would stop but it just got worse.
It felt like you could taste his b.o.  It was the grossest thing!

There were cameras at the end and they took your picture unbeknownst to us while making the final turn to exit.  When we got off we were approached by a young man showing us our photo and asking if we'd like to purchase this.
Rick is making the most disgusting face as am I and you can just tell we smell something foul.

We looked at that photo and we said to him, "Oh my gosh that is horrible, we can't buy this we're sorry!"  We have always regretted not buying that picture.  We find it so funny now and it's a fun pic to have for us. We learned our lesson that all the dumb stuff that we find so damn funny is just us and we should just celebrate it that way. But I swear you could smell that gross man through the picture!
