Yesterday it rained all day and night.
The humidity was horrendous. It made our home so dang humid and thick.
Once we went upstairs to bed it was far worse. While the windows were open it was so hot in our bedroom. The temp wasn't real high but boy the humidity was bad.
I got up at 1am because I was so hot. i went downstairs and Izzy was sleeping under the ceiling fan probably giving her some air. I sat downstairs and thought just because it's November 11th doesn't mean you can't turn on the air. So I did.
I eventually fell asleep on the sofa. Rick came downstairs this morning and said, "Thanks for turning on the air, I was so miserable all night long. I heard it come on and thought I'd get up and close the windows. It helped! Thanks!"
I explained how I had to tell myself I am an adult I can turn on the air. I don't know why we were both so hung up on, Well it is November. Yes, it is late fall but when you are melting who cares what the calendar says - just be comfortable if you can do it. This morning he says, we should have known that if we got the fireplace repaired it was going to get hot. Figures.
Rick had mentioned he wanted Zuppa Tuscano for dinner and as the day went on I kept thinking, really you want soup in this weather? But I made what he asked for and we had a nice soup for dinner. Rick's "diet" is him cutting down on his intake. Not eliminating total food groups. So last night he had a good size bowl and that was it. He told me he wanted another but he was going to be good. And he was. He has lost 10lbs since Monday. How the hell does he do it? I swear he decides to diet and then it just falls off him. But he has another 40 to go.
Have you ever made this copy cat soup of Olive Gardens?
It is so easy. I do it in a crockpot - easier that way. And I don't use kale.
Rick and I don't care for kale so I used fresh spinach. If you'd like the recipe I'll send it to you or post it another day.
Every time I've made this soup it's such a hit.

My life is getting smaller again since the uptick of Covid. Even if we do get a vaccine in spring do you wish to be the first? I think those in nursing homes will be first as well as our front line workers at hospitals etc. I don't imagine the likes of me will see a vaccine until later in 2021. Normally "they," say it takes 5 to 10 years for a vaccine. That seems long. So all those vaccinations I got as a kid it took them that long to develop? And what do anti-vaccination people do? They still will get it and die and can they give it to those vaccinated? So many questions and no one leading us with information.
I listened to a very long interview with Governor Cuomo on Sirius.
God this man to me is terrific. He made sense. Common Sense. Which no one has anymore. He was very open about trump and even complimented some of his staff who reached out to help when trump stopped all supplies going to NYC and NY state because they were blue. So he is the president of the whole US but he will only help people lining his pockets. Others he can let die. How can a human be so awful? Hitler yes, and now trump too.

Let's jump tracks...
This is a book and soon to be a movie.
Did you see this on The Today Show?

Oh, I love soup, and would love the recipe! I make Louisiana gumbo, which is one of my best. My Mom was given some lessons when we lived there and she made it for 30 more years until now (since she's in assisted living and have nothing in her apartment except for a microwave and tiny fridge) Be happy to swap out with you!
Since we have a "swamp cooler" (slang for evaporative cooler) we can have one or the other but not both at the same time. Once you shut down the cooler, if it gets hot you just have to deal with it. But we have no humidity, so just turn on the fan :-) It can be tricky sometimes to figure out when to do it. We had snow a few weeks ago, and quite a few folks were caught with no heat!
I am so terribly sick of election shenanigans. You know Trump won't concede, he'll just walk out of the White House.
🤚🏼 Me me me. I’d love the recipe.
I often have to give myself permission for things that were not ok as I grew up. I’m getting better at it.
Only hit the lower 70's here. We cranked the windows open and it was fine. Now there's snow in the forecast sometime in the next few days.
Are we sure Trump is a human being? He has no soul or conscience, doesn't like pets and his skin is that weird orange color. Oh, also? He can't spell t r u t h. I'm voting for alien.
Men can lose weight so easily. I don't get it. I wish I did!
Governor Cuomo has a way of making you calm because you know someone honest and caring is in charge...at least in his area of the country. I find it so offensive to our democracy that a PRESIDENT thinks its okay to punish blue states the way he does and favor the red states.
Men weigh so much more than us that for them 10 pounds equates to 2 pounds for us. Not fair--probably science.
I have few vices--out side of baseball- so comfortable climate control in my house is my weakness. I will turn the heat on in the AM and A/C on in the afternoon or happily reverse if necessary. As L'Oréal proudly says, "Because I'm worth it."
Brian, it's cold here today. i just got in from a walk with Izzy. She loves cold and wants to walk a long time. Me, not so much anymore. I think an alien wouldn't do worse!
Jean - oh so true - re: weight and the ass in charge.
Patti - I love it! I am worth it! I don't turn on the heat so much as I turn on the fireplace and get it toasty then by afternoon it's hot. So I understand you. but I could never ever live without heat and Air, they are equally important to me. I'd give up wine before giving up air and heat. That says somethin' .
It seems as though our warm weather run has ended today but it never left my mind that it's November because it is dark by 4:30 and it is mostly grey and cloudy. Not my favorite time of year.
Olga, I know when I say cold I mean the 50s and damp and when you say cold it's far worse in VT. I hate the dark at 4:30p. We will have warm weather and sunshine after today so I can't really complain. Sunny and 60s is great for thanksgiving to me.
I find it kinda funny, I just bought a humidifier for our bedroom. But hey, you don't want to mess with high humidity, I remember what that mold has done to you!
Magnum was reading about one of the more promising vaccines in the works. It messes with your RNA. Not sure I want to be one of the first to get it.
That story was nuts. But it just goes to show that if people think you know what you are doing you can get away with a lot. The movie should be interesting.
I made that before! I remember my crock pot was like overflowing and I was like next time I need to cut that recipe in half (got it off Pinterest)
