Quickie

This made Rick and I laugh.

My dad is going to be 90 in a couple of weeks.
He has dementia his doctors say. He doesn't remember most of his kids or for that matter anything. He is not well.

He had a fall last week in the kitchen. The ambulance arrived and began to ask Dad questions before my mom had a chance to tell them that he had dementia. They asked him what day it was, he responded with the correct date. Lucky guess? We don't know.

Then they asked him who the president was. My mom said she heard this and could only imagine what he was going to say, Reagan, Bush, Clinton?
But my dad said, "that asshole trump" They all laughed.

My God that is funny to me. Even with dementia, my father is smarter than most.

Dementia sure does gives us a lot of opportunities to laugh. If we don't laugh, we cry. One time I was watching my dad take the mental comp. test to see if he could remain alone in his house---had to have them every three months because he was in a drug trial---the doctor asked the 'who is the president' question. My dad named the wrong one and when the doctor corrected him dad said, "My daughter tried to tell me that in the parking lot, but I didn't believe her." And it was true, I did try to help him cheat. We all laughed over that.

The one good thing trump has accomplished. Boosting your dads memory.

That is one of those lucid moments.

lol we call him Chump!

My mother in law I think is starting to lose it. Scott said everytime she calls she cries. Always crying. That woman never cried EVER. It's like a switch went off and her whole life of tears are all draining out now.

Julie, I've heard of this happening. Their personality does a 180. It did for my aunt too.
