** We think our fur baby, Izzy, has to have surgery again. Sunday was the first time I have ever heard her cry. Oh my goodness, it was awful. She could not put her left back foot down. She was behaving just like when she tore her ACL.
If you remember me telling you that once one is torn they expect the other to go to. Every damn person I saw on the street while walking her had to tell me. So I asked the vet and indeed that is correct. We assumed that was the issue. But upon examination, they also found a huge lump on her inner leg as well that she will not allow us to touch. We ferminate her (it's something that helps with shedding) each day so how either of could have missed this enormous lump is odd.
She was in such pain that we took her to the ER. They felt she had a tear again but they too were quite concerned about the lump.
We need to bring her back to the surgeon (next to the ER thankfully) on Thursday morning to see Dr. Morris who did her last surgery. He will confirm or deny a need for surgery and they will aspirate the lump to see what this is.
I am praying it is just what we have been calling her lady lumps. Those are fatty deposits that Labradors and Goldens get. She has a couple of those and we have never had them checked further because the doctors always say they move around and that means a fatty deposit. But this came out of nowhere and is not like the others. That is our big concern and fear.
My goodness owning a dog is expensive. It is like having a child. There is always something.
If Izzy needs the surgery they have an appointment on the books for that day as well. We are preparing as though that is what will happen. No food or drink after a certain time etc. All I can say is, "Thank God for dog insurance!" But bottom line it's our fur baby we are most concerned about.
** I was thrilled to see that my new fav show on Netflix, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel won a golden globe for the lead actress. Amazing since it has only been streaming for 30 days. Told you it was good. 😋
**Speaking of the Globes - warning - my opinion only -
If I have to hear about Oprah for president one more time I will vomit. Yes, she gave a very good church style speech. But just because she has a vocabulary, is articulate and can put a concise thought together to form a complete sentence we automatically go for president?
Gee didn't we just elect a tv personality? Do we wish to watch Battle of the Network Stars come election time? Heaven help us.
Yes, he has the vocabulary of a 6th grade. Yes, he is not knowledgable about anything, especially how his job works. Yes, he says things "like, I'm smart" all the time and it is embarrassing to our country. (a valley girl says like all the time as do 12 yr olds and that is pitiful)
He just took credit for no aviation crashes in the US for the past year.
What a total buffoon. So he's flying all the planes too? Idiot.
But just because she gave a good speech is no reason to think we need another TV personality. Besides isn't she busy enough?
She owns a TV Network, 1/2 of Weight Watchers, a correspondent on 60 minutes, owner of a girls school etc. She has more money than God and she has no experience. Have Americans become so stupid that they think all it takes to be a good leader is to give a great speech?
If that is the requirement I think my husband should run.He spent his corporate white-collar career giving speeches. He's elected!
If we want a good woman, how about Elizabeth Warren?
If you just want a damn good candidate on many levels how about Cory Booker? They have worked in gov't for a long enough time to be knowledgeable.
They have done some great things as well for the country and their states.
Also not in gov't so long that they are career politicians.
Okay, enough of politics. Hate that on my blog but I just had to with this O. thing. It's stupid at best to me. Americans want easy and stupid and I find it frustrating when it involves our lives.
** I had to pick up my rent-a-car this morning. It's so weird how difficult it is to use a new car. I couldn't find anything. I brought the owners manual into the house to look over so I am looking for things while driving. It's a Toyota Rav 4. It's not as comfortable as my Highlander but it will do just fine until I get my car back.
On the way to the appointment at 8am this morning it was very very icy and foggy. I kept praying that I would make it there without another accident. I have a very old car so I have a key to start the car. She handed this thing to me and I made myself look old and said, "Where is the key?" Oops. She laughed and said, "you sound like my grandmother" Okay lady I liked you, that wasn't necessary. She told me just use that to lock and unlock the car. The button inside the car starts and stops it. I was embarrassed, but I survived.
**It feels like a heat wave. It was 33 this morning. I think our high will be 35.
Then tomorrow in the mid 40's then the 50's on Thursday and 60 on Friday.
It will feel like putting on your shorts weather after -1.
But it will turn back into winter over the weekend. So we must enjoy this while we can right? Happy warm Tuesday.

I don't know how in the world I've missed your blog in the past, but I had to sign up. The title is very cool, and you talk about life which I really enjoy. so sorry about your fur baby and hope all goes well. I adore Oprah and all of her amazing accomplishments, but despite them, I don't think she's ready to run an entire country. We've grown used to her entertainment value and words of wisdom, and we should leave it at that. She would have to give up way too many business endeavors for sure. Like you, we're getting ready to go through a serious heat wave here in NC after having a cold spell. With 67 degree weather, I'm almost ready to pull out the short shorts. (lol) I prefer colder weather in the winter, but it never seems to work out that way. Rental cars do take some time to get used to,and it makes it nerve wrecking to have to drive one in ice. Hope all goes well and that you're safe. Hugs...RO
Hey Ro, welcome! Look around and get to know me and I'm now running to yours.
Sure hope all checks out ok with Izzy. You get so attached to those furry little things, they do become like your kids after a while.
If the choice were down to Oprah vs the clown-in-chief we have now, I'd vote Oprah. But in a real election, I'd like either of your other two choices too. Just can't stand a far right wing-nut with an agenda to bilk the middle class to the benefit of the 1%'ers. %*^#@ moron.
My old neighbors lab had lumps all over her when she got old. When I asked about them she was like , meh, they all get them.
RICK FOR PRESIDENT!
Hate to hear that news about your fur baby.
I did perk up at the diet advice though.
Brian, if those are my choices then I agree with you 100%
Mike - yep they do get 'em all the time. They are just fatty deposits unless they don't move. This one is not moving so that is the concern.
Olga - yes, that did perk me up as well. :-)
Poor Izzy! It's so hard when our fury babies hurt and we don't know why. Hope the surgery and aspiration goes well.
Oh, my God that grandmother comment was straight out of the mouths of babies. Cars are getting to complicated. She probably wouldn't have said it if you truly looked like a grandma.
Ah Jean, flattery will get you everywhere. Sadly I have no money to send.
I'm sure I looked like her grandmother but it is what it is.
I handed Rick the other key fob and he looked at it and said, 'Where is the key' I laughed.
I hope Izzy is ok! I watched that Marvelous show after you posted about it, it was good! I saw it got an award :)
Thx Julie. Glad you liked it.
Those diet tips are hilarious. Permission to post on my facebook page?
Boots, permission granted! 😂
oh, thank goodness.
i thought i was the last sane person on earth because i saw all the #oprah202 garbage and i was ll like WHUT? no.
nope, nope, nope.
NOPRAH.
i don't even like her on the teevee. too much shiny unicorn farting. fer pete's sake, she gives airtime to crackpot people to talk about anitvax and detoxing and all that.
then again nobody ever made a teevee fortune off of a show where people just have a nuanced discussion about sensible public policy, so maybe we're asking too much of our teevee celebrities.
