I stopped being political here after the last elections.
I've had enough but this makes me physically ill.
I am not proud of this America.
I read this quote and honestly I agree.
"We live in America where a girl throws flour at Kim Kardashian is arrested, but a man who killed Trayvon Martin is free."

i agree wholeheartedly, 100%.
i can't stop thinking about trayvon martin. i can't even begin to imagine the frustration, sadness, anger, and confusion that i would be feeling if i was his parent.
Tammie - I knew you'd understand. It makes my blood boil, and it breaks my heart.
I think the Martin case is going to turn into something a lot bigger as far as gun toting nut jobs go. At least I hope so.
Mike - I'm not sure I follow your comment. I hope you meant that it would be a positive against the gun toting nut jobs.
I didn't think I could be any more disgusted by the Trayvon Martin case until Newt opened his big fat mouth. And you know it's gonna get worse before it gets better. If it ever does get any better.
Jay
Jay - I agree!
Unfortunately, this tells you how much more important KK is! It's a shame Trayvon's wasn't hit with flour, instead of a bullet. Or... no, I won't go there.
Cora - :-) I hear you.
i am not proud to live in this america, either.
it's less about racism (which can be subtle and takes many forms) and more about the erosion of civil liberty, the idiocy of the laws, and institutional inertia that has everything to do with money and religious fundamentalism.
i was listening to an interesting lecture by neil degrasse tyson last night in which he described the end of the golden age of islamic intellectual thought.
those people invented the zero, fer pete's sake!
but then fundamentalists took over.
ones who thought mathematics could only be satan's work.
when we stop constructing "others" who are in need of watching and correcting, we will stop killing trayvons.
eat more kale.
It just really makes no sense. You take a person's life, no matter the reason, and you are arrested because you have killed --EVEN if it was self defense. If they feel it was justified, they give you a very reasonable bond and you are out until the trial, whereby, then they decide if it was justified. I have never seen them they say at the scene of the crime that it was justified so we will leave you alone. What, are the police there the investigators, judge, and jury all rolled up into one?!!!!
Tina - EXCELLENT POINTS!!!!!!!!!!
