Happy Happy Happy....

Okay Happy Posts for you today because I owe you all that.
Puppies and rainbows and all that horse shit.
 And speaking of horse poo.....

We belong to a Labrador Group for meet ups as they are called to play with other Labs etc.  They are free and always fun for the humans as well as the dogs.
This particular outing was at an equestrian center where they have rehabilitation for healing the horses using water. Izzy was really curious about the horses. None were out of their stables so she couldn't get any closer than this but she wanted to play with each one of them. A brown one could reach down and touch her nose and that made her tail go crazy!

The pool was open to the group for $10 for 2 hours. Money well spent for we humans.
Since it is winter and Izzy isn't at the lake swimming non stop we knew this would be fun for her.  We threw the football or toy and she would jump in and swim and bring it out for us to do again and again and again......

This is fun for us too because she would be so wiped out and sleep all afternoon and night so there wouldn't be a lot of walking etc. Being bad human parents we knew we could have one on one time with no interruptions of any kind.  So a good day for ALL

Izzy loves water, stuffed animals, footballs and sticks. In that order.  If you have a stick/football in water well it's the bomb for her.  The other day she wanted to bring the stick in the house and I wouldn't let her. So she dropped her stick and came inside. She went directly to her box of toys and grabbed her decapitated frog and went back outside and slept with the stick at her nose while holding her frog. That made me chuckle so I had to get a photo of that.
I do not let our dog onto any of our furniture. She has never tried to get on any of our furniture either. So it works just fine. But lately my husband wants her on his chair or his ottoman.  I told him not to start this nonsense because how does she know the difference from his ugly chair to the sofa etc. So he sighs and says okay reluctantly. I was upstairs doing laundry and other fun domestic things and it was so quiet downstairs. I looked down the stair case and could see what was going on so I grabbed my camera and "caught" him. I showed him the photo and said, "what happened to the no furniture rule here?"
"Well as you can see the evidence shows that there was that old Mexican blanket on the ottoman - but I didn't put it there."

How old are you Richard?.  You are trying to reason with me like you are 12.
I really don't want to start this behavior.  Besides this is a new world now for us and we can't afford to just go out and get new furniture like the old days on a whim

"I know, I know, but SHE likes it up here."

"Oh who the hell you kidding - YOU like her up there.  I think you have issues."

Deflecting he says, "Besides that isn't even me in that photo.  I have more hair than that"

"Oh my God your excuses are getting so lame baldy. I have another photo of evidence.
I got you sleeping from the front too"

"It's an evil twin who doesn't listen to his wife, it's not me honey. Honest!"

To those of you who don't think I have children - think again.
I have 2 of them.

i love those last few pictures. not only are they being disobedient but it looks like they are both excited and enjoying it, like "ooh mommy isnt in the room, lets get in our chair!"

our pets are all over the furniture. there are no rules here. besides, the kisd mess up the furniture more than the pets do and i allow them on it.

Tammie - that is funny!
But I don't have kids. Look I am anal retentive about this shit I know it. But I have loosened up so much already....I used to be so much worse and I continue to working on it. Which Rick does point out and appreciates. My floors used to be nice too - not anymore. So now she goes on the ugly chair and ottoman. But nothing else and she seems to get that.....so far. time will tell.

Your little guy is just like a child, he needs a nap after a play date! That is so sweet. I adore dogs, they are always happy to see you and could care less if you gained 10 lbs or want to spend the day in sweats and no make-up.

Ah but my dogs are like children to me too so I know just what is going on in your house. In fact right now all three are sitting beside me, on the couch. Thing with my dogs, they do know that they can get up when there is a cover on the couch. Take the cover off, they don't get on them. Labs are smart like that ;o)

Have to say again, not a big animal/dog fan but your Izzy just makes me want one so bad, just like her. She is so precious! I love the pics. Happy! Happy!

you just go right ahead and bitch or don't. i don't read this because you're happy and warm and fuzzy (God knows there's enough of that crap flying around) or because you're a caustic whiny bitch (we ALL know there's enough of THAT and we all know where to find it, too).

i read this because you're smart and funny and you can string two sentences together like you've got a brain in your head and that makes it worth coming around here.

i'm home, by the way.

i'm still working my way through the epic tale over at my blog so it's going to be a little dense over there for a while, but i'm eating my own food and sleeping in my own bed as of tonight, but i seen some turrible things and i'm going to try to write about it best i can and laugh a little too.

i'm going to need some kind of speech rehab to straighten up my language to make my re-entry into church society; where i been lately i actually heard a boy put the "f-word" into a sentence seven times yesterday and not only did it make perfect grammatical sense to me, but i wasn't sure how to answer without using it three or four times myself.

i'm pretty sure i didn't talk like that when i left home.

Thank you for such a HAPPY post!
Your Lab group reminds me of when I was a Stay-At-Mom and I was in this Mom "play group" and we would get together for hikes and at playgrounds with our children. ;-)

It must heave been quite warm where you are, that Izzy could fall asleep outdoors, yes?

Loved the Izzy stories about her sticks/toys and your DH cuddling the puppy on his lap! (we have long given up--our dog is on the beds AND couches--all snuggled prettily on a pillow)

Flask - good to hear you're home. As I like to say, "at one with my stuff"

Now don't make me have to wash your mouth out with soap! :-)

Sandra - welcome!

Gal Tina - Izzy doesn't like warm weather and come summer she will never lay outside like that. It was in the 30's that day. Not super cold but not exactly warm. But it was sunny and when she came in her coat was hot. She actually thrives in colder weather. She sleeps on snow too. Odd little duck she is.

And it is like a Mommy play group -only my kid has 4 legs and can't talk back.

See! Husbands and dogs are just like having kids. Your dog is too cute to say no to. I see your husband's dilemma. My vote is to let him have the dog on the chair and be dammed. I couldn't stand not to cuddle with that dog either. I hear that cuddling with a dog adds years to your life and calms your nerves. I'm sure he's just doing it for his health, that's why I do.
