I no longer receive emails telling me I have comments.
I also don't see how I can change this under my settings as we could before.
Here are a couple of shots to show you. I am unable to put an email there. It will not allow you to type an email. Every one of these is like that.
You can see how most of this is gray'ed out so I can't add or change anything here either. Are any of you having this issue? On blogger support, there are 100s of people unable to do this and no answers are there either.
God this platform is frustrating.
Today I have a full page to post a blog so each and every day it is something else that doesn't work.
Rick voted yesterday and there was a young person voting for the first time. When she handed them her ballot they rang a bell and everyone in the joint applauded. She was beaming. Rick said it was really cute. So when he gave them his ballot he said, "no one applauding for me?"
She looked at his ID card and said, "Sir, you've voted before"
He whined, Aaah. Then they applauded for the fool.
He thanked them and left them all laughing.
He's a nut job.
I will not be doing that today.
Rick is seeing the orthopedic surgeon Thursday because his knee is still a big issue. It makes him cranky. I get his wrath of cranky because I work with him. My God, I was ready to kick his ass to the curb today. And it's only 10:30am. He began to yell. I get it, you're in pain, you're frustrated with traffic, etc. But do not yell at me! He would not yell if the woman on the other end of the phone was his employee. I deserve the same respect if not better. So I just hung up. I will not tolerate yelling. Period. He knows that. If you can't be an adult and talk civilly then don't talk to me. Yep, I'm upset with him. It should be fun when he gets home huh?
Nothing worse than working with your spouse. Nothing!
This weekend our visitors asked how it was to work together and we both at the same time went, Aargh! They laughed. But it's difficult and not funny.
The fact that we do it well most days is amazing but there are days, weeks, years where the fact that we didn't kill one another is also amazing. July can't get here fast enough.
We have given ourselves that deadline to be retired and in the south.
For the love of God, I have no idea how we are going to do this financially but we are just going to jump. We may end up living in a box under a bridge but we're not going to be doing this shit anymore.
I did get a nice review I saw on Yelp yesterday. 5 stars. I think we have all 5 stars but 1. The ass gave us 4 stars because he wanted to see how it would hold up. He said he'd update it. He never did and it's been 13 years. So I'd say if he was unhappy he would have bitched but when happy they tend to forget and nothing gets written. Most people only take the time to complain and never compliment. I wonder why that is. I leave reviews when things are good because it's so rare sadly.
Do you leave reviews when things are good or only when they are bad?

I try to give positive feedback more than negative. You never know when it might make a difference in a person's day.
So glad you are looking forward to retirement. Ours has been fabulous. Twenty years now!
Jan, I am looking forward to not working with people!!! Retirement scares me.
Unless it was something truly awful I don't leave negative reviews. People have bad days, sometimes sh*t just happens. It would have to be a truly egregious muck up for me to post a negative comment. But I am all about giving compliments - it makes me happy to acknowledge something good - so it's all about my happiness LOL Yesterday I left a 5 star review on Yelp for a company I didn't use - because they were responsive to my request for a price quote whereas the other 4 or 5 companies I had contacted never responded at all. So I gave 5 stars for customer service.
I think a 4 star review is easier to believe than a 5 star. Especially when they are all 5 star. Just like a 2 star is easier to believe than a 1 star. 1 stars can be competitors, 5 stars can be the company. I do like the 'verified buyer' that's on some reviews.
I don't get notification emails for about half the people that comment. It's bad because if someone comments on an older post I might not see it. I haven't been getting notifications from Bilbo for years now. I think it had something to do with google plus.
Anyway, I just checked and all my options are accessible. But you never know from day to day with blogger.
Grace, well how damn nice of you! I always break down the service vs the customer service. Sometimes the people who did the work are fabulous but the customer service is more than lacking.
Mike - I don't get that to be honest. I get that sometimes a rival will do a bad review. But if they leave a glowing report with their stars and you think it's fake that is sad to me. We had 102 reviews when we were on Home Advisor. 101 were 5's. 1 was a lie and only 1 star. We had to prove she was lying and we did yet they kept it up there. The lie everyone read and assumed was true. I guess it's human nature to be doubtful but it's also sad to me that people think the good reviews aren't real. Why would they write such long reviews then?
I'd probably kill Scott if we had to work together. He is so unorganized at home I can't imagine him being better at work.
I usually leave only good reviews. On a recent trip, however, I left a negative review because the experience at the restaurant we were at was so bad. And it was nothing to do with food or service. I like it when the business owners respond. Do you do that? I imagine it takes too much time.
Love Rick's voting experience and how they treated the new voter.
On your screen shot if you look up the page from there you'll find a place that says, "Email Moderation Request." if you click that you'll find a place to fill in your email. Not sure if that's what you need or not but I thought it might be worth checking out. I don't have any issues with the new Blogger platform...knock on wood. They really do need a better Blogger Support place. I heard there was a Facebook page that gives half/feedback of issues.
I give reviews for exceptionally good or exceptionally bad but mostly I am annoyed at continuous requests for reviews. I get air put in my tire and I get a survey from the dealership. What am I supposed to say? This is the best air ever put in a tire?
I tend to give my positive reviews in person. I know the internet ones probably do more good but I kind of like to do it right now to their face. Don't think I have ever given a bad written review--I just don't go back and warn my friends.
Like the acknowledgement of a new voter. Cute how they gave Rick applause also.
Julie - I understand!!
Sheila - We NEVER ask for reviews. Not cool to me. But we do respond to them all!
Jean - let me look at that one next. Thank you! I am not on FB but I might make Rick look for me.
Olga - see I am not a fan of asking for a tip or a review. To me the same thing. Yes, but was it the best air you've ever put in your tire. :-) LOL
Patti - a customer told Rick how wonderful I had been to he and his wife about arranging the project etc. Rick said, "so I shouldn't fire her then today?" Of course they thought he was serious and they said, "she was wonderful don't fire her!" He explained he was joking. So it was nice that they told him that his "gal in the office' was so terrific in person.
Only Rick would tell them that he deserved applause too.
Jean - comment moderation means I must read them before they go to post. That is not the same as getting an email with the comment AS it posts to just let me know it was posted.
Reviews, hmmmmmm. If all is exceptional, I will certainly post a glowing review. If all is crap, I'll post it but I always make sure to find something to be positive about. Our trip two weeks ago was fun, but the place I picked ~ ugh. But it still had great views, it was fun to see deer and turkey, but some of the other things weren't so hot.
