Pigs don't have to be smelling. But getting to know one on personal level like a dog would probably cure me of buying bacon. My nephew raises three pigs every summer and kills them for the meat in the fall. I just couldn't do that. They even name them.
My Buddy the Chihuahua does something very similar. Loves to run to the rug and slide down his side then scratch both sides of his nose along the carpet. Animals are great. They keep us same.
In my younger days I had back to the land friends who raised their own food. You'd go to dinner and they might discuss things like is this Blossom or Buttercup we're eating? Aahhh! Way to kill an appetite!

I love, love, love bacon, but it has to be beef or turkey versions because hubby doesn't eat any type of pork products - every(lol) He's have a heart attack if I even thought about bringing a pig in the house. Happy New Year! Hugs...RO

Oh Jean, I would never eat pork. AND I could not have a pet, with a name and then eat it. Nope, I'd be vegetarian.

I'd probably be a vegetarian if I lived on a farm lol. My friend has chickens as pets and I can't believe she still eats chicken lol
