Here is how my vacation started.
I asked Rick the morning we were leaving if he would grab the camera which he left in his work truck.
I saw him go out to the garage but I admit I was busying packing things up and assumed since he walked right out the door after I asked and said, "I'll get it now" that he was indeed getting the camera. Silly me.
About an hour into the trek from north to south I asked him, "Where did you put the camera?" To which he responded, "I forgot to get it."
But I saw you walk out and you said "I'll get it now" what did you mean by that then?
"Oh I meant I was going to get it but then I saw some of the tools laying around on my work area so I straightened those things up."
"And then did you get the camera?"
"No I put my glazing guns into a bucket for cleaning, you know to let them soak while I'm gone"
"Then you just came back into the house?"
"Yep."
"You totally forgot you went out there for the camera in the first place?"
"Yep."
"Should I be worried about you?"
"Nope." (laughing)
"So you're just easily distracted by shiney objects?"
"Oh, it's gonna be a long 5 days with a smart ass."
"Apparently you'll never even remember old man."
It was a glorious 5 days away.
We got a cool spell that was superb but short.
It was cool nights (55 ish) and low humidity.
It was high 70's and low 80's during the day.
It reminded me of the summers of my childhood.
It was heavenly.
Evenings with some great wine around the fire pit.
Yep, complete with roasted marshmellows.
I am not a fan of s'mores so I just did the roasted masrhmellows.
It's funny because I really like those 3 things seperately but together not so much.
I read a book, napped in the hammock, floated on chairs in the water and drank gin and Lemonade. I was in a bathing suit for 4 glorious full days and not a stitch of makeup.
By the time we left we were both so relaxed it was incredible.
No company, no kids, nothing but laid back living for us.
We have not had a time like this at the lake house for over a year.
I can't even begin to articulate how great that was.
Here is the old man with his noodle. (a foam noodle not what you are thinking)
No camera but I was able to take a freeze frame from the video camera.
But today I am back at work.
It's 101 degrees and muggy as hell and all things considered really like any Monday.
Hard to get back in the saddle again.....and wear clothes.
How was your vacation?

i did nothing. which was kinda nice actually...
Oh it sounds heavenly! What I wouldn't give to spend a few days just lazing about and enjoying nature with the hubby. I'm glad you got to take some time away.
Great to have you back. Muggy? Ugh, I hate that word. Stay cooler!

Your husband? Tell him "welcome to my life." Ever since I've had kids I have no idea WHY I went into a room. I just look around hoping something will look familiar to me. Ah well - glad you had a nice break!
This was a great post!!!
I love the dialogue - too funny!!!!
Your vacation sounds glorious. I long for the days when my nest will be empty and I can just enjoy the peace. Although I'm sure once those days have arrived I will long for the noise of the children. Nice pic of hubby...he looks fun!
C'mon, cut the man some slack, he had to deal with the "glazing guns" - which is always priority one ;-)
