Anyone see Jon Bon Jovi on Stephen Colbert last night?
My goodness, it is unfair that he looks so damn good with white hair.
It sure doesn't hurt that he has a nice head of hair as well.
Damn, he still looks good!
I know, he's too young for me, he's 6 years younger for Pete's sake.
Oh the hell with age, it's tender vittles for me 😉
It's been a nice week for me with my hunk-a-hunk-a burning loves on late night.
Gerard, Gerry as I call him, Butler was on Kimmel this week too.
My God he is manly. I just love me some Gerry Butler. Don't care for his movies but LOVE him. Yes, he is da bomb to me. I think it's because he is manly. No skinny little man. I like 'em big.
I told Rick many many, many, many years ago that I liked my diamonds big and simple, you know, like my men.
It took him a minute, then he said - HEY!
Gerry is not dumb, was in university to be a lawyer. But thankfully he came to America and I get to drool every time I see him. Aah, insert swoon.
_______________
I got my car back yesterday afternoon.
It looks great and it drives so much better than that rent-a-car.
Besides the rent-a-car was small and Rick was most uncomfortable in this Toyota Rav 4.
I almost wish they had said to wait until later in the week.
You see we got snow last night. Not much but it's the same amount that occurred when the young girl hit me. I fear being hit again.
As I mentioned I have been hit 3 times in the last 3 years.
Once while getting my husband Five Guys dinner.(yes, I'm a good wife and picked up his favorite dinner)
I was sitting in my parking spot and texting Rick about what he wanted.
(I do not drive and text) So while just sitting there a woman backed up and hit me.
Then I got hit while inside Costco. I came out to my car and saw the dented bumper. I was livid.
Then this time I have parked yet AGAIN and as I walked to my car I see the young girl hit my car.
Can you see why I am paranoid now? Moving is easy for me, it's the friggin' parking that gets me.

Today's positive -
Last night Izzy slept all night. It was glorious. No restlessness and waking up and wanting love and hugs. She slept from 9 to 5:30a.
A record and let me tell you how good that felt for me.
I got to sleep, in a recliner, but I slept.
I am not a fan of recliners, either the look or the lack of comfort.
I think as a short person they just don't fit me well. Rick loves his recliner but at 6'1.5" I think it fits him better. I can't even sit in the chair and have my feet touch the floor so not so comfortable for me. But the take away is she must be feeling even better to have slept all night and not wake from pain or discomfort.

Todays Positives
I continue to search for the sunshine in this dark period
I continue to search for the laughter in each day.
I continue to avoid the news.
I continue to try to find the positives.
The positives I took out of yesterday
Give it a quick read. Some of her things she can and can't do at 80 made me smile.
Enjoy your day!
I continue to search for the laughter in each day.
I continue to avoid the news.
I continue to try to find the positives.
The positives I took out of yesterday
- My fathers fall was not fatal. Confusing, but not fatal.
- The stress and heaviness in my chest from stress will go away.
- Izzy is doing remarkably well and further along at this point vs. last time we went through this.
- I am not 80.
- Rick adores me
- It is 27 days until spring training starts.
- We are alive and well. sort of
- Through it all Rick made me have a belly laugh last night and it is better than medicine from a bottle.
Enjoy your day!

One Day At A Time
Surgery was Thursday, January 11th on my fur baby.
She had a partial tear and we decided to fix it before she was fully torn as she was the last time. She was able to put weight on it but only sometimes. We were in the 3 legged hop stage with a toe tap. (Not near as bad as last time with not putting the leg down or straight at all).
We decided to not let it get as far as the first time because we were just postponing the inevitable since we have the dog insurance to pay for it. Besides, we knew it caused her pain and why would we allow her to be in pain all the time? The worst part is walking her back to what I call a cage. It is huge and she has never been crated so it seemed like a punishment to her. She looks at us through the bars as if to say, Why are you doing this to me and leaving?
Kills us each time.
Now the fun part. She can't climb our steps. So she can't sleep with us.
Last time we went upstairs to bed she was downstairs alone and she cried.
I went back downstairs immediately and I slept on the sofa while she was in her bed next to me. I did that if you remember for 4 weeks. Oh boy.
She wakes up and makes sure I'm there, I tell her I am here and touch her and she falls back to sleep.
Rick gets weekends. Since I work from home I feel I should. He has to have a good nights sleep to get up and do physical labor.
She had a big lump (lipoma) on her inside left leg that was aspirated.
She has a lot of these lumps on her which are typical of labs and goldens. However, this one didn't move as the others do and when they are stationary they are concerned they may be cancer so they want to go in to see. It wasn't cancer thank goodness. It was just another lady bump as we have begun calling them. Whew.
This below is her after I got her home. The blue thing she is laying on is a sling to lift her hindquarters so she doesn't put that foot down to go out to pee or poo. Everyone who saw this said it looked as though she had a leg amputated. Thankfully not. She is just laying on that other leg.
Here is the positive take away on the day of surgery. I did not have to walk the dog and I didn't have to wear a bra all day while working. It was nirvana. That is when working from home is glorious. 😀

My neighbor got her in the house for me because Rick was working.
She was behaving like a drunk toddler from all these drugs. I got her out of the car. There she stood. She wouldn't walk or do anything. I could not get her to move her front paws as I have her back in a sling. I attempted to pick her up but sure couldn't do it. I was outside for a full 20 minutes and about to have a serious cry/meltdown when my neighbor saw me outside because he was working from home. Thank goodness for my nice neighbors.
He came out and asked if I needed help. I said I sure did. He picked up Izzy like she only weighed 5lbs, not 73lbs. He lifted her and put her down here in this photo. I told him it was like Officer and a Gentleman the way he whisked her up and saved the day.
When she torn her other leg's ACL we drove her to her pee and poo spots and then got her out of the car for the first couple of days. It was the only way. This is when I wish we had a yard or a patch of grass. But we don't so we do whatever we have to do for her.
Here is the positive take away on the day of surgery. I did not have to walk the dog and I didn't have to wear a bra all day while working. It was nirvana. That is when working from home is glorious. 😀

Days Off
Bit of a January funk shall we say or that is what I will call it for lack of a better name.
So I am taking some mental health days.
Won't be writing for a couple of days.
Need to see the sunshine, the smiles, and the humor and I will be back.
Make it a great day!

Random Items
Some random items going on in my life and in my head.
** We think our fur baby, Izzy, has to have surgery again. Sunday was the first time I have ever heard her cry. Oh my goodness, it was awful. She could not put her left back foot down. She was behaving just like when she tore her ACL.
If you remember me telling you that once one is torn they expect the other to go to. Every damn person I saw on the street while walking her had to tell me. So I asked the vet and indeed that is correct. We assumed that was the issue. But upon examination, they also found a huge lump on her inner leg as well that she will not allow us to touch. We ferminate her (it's something that helps with shedding) each day so how either of could have missed this enormous lump is odd.
She was in such pain that we took her to the ER. They felt she had a tear again but they too were quite concerned about the lump.
We need to bring her back to the surgeon (next to the ER thankfully) on Thursday morning to see Dr. Morris who did her last surgery. He will confirm or deny a need for surgery and they will aspirate the lump to see what this is.
I am praying it is just what we have been calling her lady lumps. Those are fatty deposits that Labradors and Goldens get. She has a couple of those and we have never had them checked further because the doctors always say they move around and that means a fatty deposit. But this came out of nowhere and is not like the others. That is our big concern and fear.
My goodness owning a dog is expensive. It is like having a child. There is always something.
If Izzy needs the surgery they have an appointment on the books for that day as well. We are preparing as though that is what will happen. No food or drink after a certain time etc. All I can say is, "Thank God for dog insurance!" But bottom line it's our fur baby we are most concerned about.
** I was thrilled to see that my new fav show on Netflix, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel won a golden globe for the lead actress. Amazing since it has only been streaming for 30 days. Told you it was good. 😋
**Speaking of the Globes - warning - my opinion only -
If I have to hear about Oprah for president one more time I will vomit. Yes, she gave a very good church style speech. But just because she has a vocabulary, is articulate and can put a concise thought together to form a complete sentence we automatically go for president?
Gee didn't we just elect a tv personality? Do we wish to watch Battle of the Network Stars come election time? Heaven help us.
Yes, he has the vocabulary of a 6th grade. Yes, he is not knowledgable about anything, especially how his job works. Yes, he says things "like, I'm smart" all the time and it is embarrassing to our country. (a valley girl says like all the time as do 12 yr olds and that is pitiful)
He just took credit for no aviation crashes in the US for the past year.
What a total buffoon. So he's flying all the planes too? Idiot.
But just because she gave a good speech is no reason to think we need another TV personality. Besides isn't she busy enough?
She owns a TV Network, 1/2 of Weight Watchers, a correspondent on 60 minutes, owner of a girls school etc. She has more money than God and she has no experience. Have Americans become so stupid that they think all it takes to be a good leader is to give a great speech?
If that is the requirement I think my husband should run.He spent his corporate white-collar career giving speeches. He's elected!
If we want a good woman, how about Elizabeth Warren?
If you just want a damn good candidate on many levels how about Cory Booker? They have worked in gov't for a long enough time to be knowledgeable.
They have done some great things as well for the country and their states.
Also not in gov't so long that they are career politicians.
Okay, enough of politics. Hate that on my blog but I just had to with this O. thing. It's stupid at best to me. Americans want easy and stupid and I find it frustrating when it involves our lives.
** I had to pick up my rent-a-car this morning. It's so weird how difficult it is to use a new car. I couldn't find anything. I brought the owners manual into the house to look over so I am looking for things while driving. It's a Toyota Rav 4. It's not as comfortable as my Highlander but it will do just fine until I get my car back.
On the way to the appointment at 8am this morning it was very very icy and foggy. I kept praying that I would make it there without another accident. I have a very old car so I have a key to start the car. She handed this thing to me and I made myself look old and said, "Where is the key?" Oops. She laughed and said, "you sound like my grandmother" Okay lady I liked you, that wasn't necessary. She told me just use that to lock and unlock the car. The button inside the car starts and stops it. I was embarrassed, but I survived.
**It feels like a heat wave. It was 33 this morning. I think our high will be 35.
Then tomorrow in the mid 40's then the 50's on Thursday and 60 on Friday.
It will feel like putting on your shorts weather after -1.
But it will turn back into winter over the weekend. So we must enjoy this while we can right? Happy warm Tuesday.

New Netflix Show
I love David Letterman.
I love the snarky, the smart, the irreverent.
I love how he made fun of Madonna and he put her in her place when she misbehaved. I love how he did not tolerate her behavior.
I adored stupid pet tricks!
And when he said things into Biff Henderson's ear to say to people on the street I couldn't get enough of that.
I loved his daytime show and his evening show.
Yes, I guess I am a Dave groupie.
I will be busy I see in January.

So imagine my delight when I saw that he is interviewing Barack Obama on January 12th on Netflix? So for all you left-leaning bloggers who are interested check it out. It ought to be good.
If you lean the other way, watch and listen to a former President who can put a full sentence together and never use the words, very very good or very bad all the time. You know, an adult, who has read a book and isn't suffering from delusions.
I will be busy I see in January.
- There will be Dave's new show.
- Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, which I always watched on Crackle but now on Netflix (Seinfeld)
- Grace & Frankie
Snuggle up on the sofa with my blanket and watch some funny. 😊
Far better than the depressing news.

Turn on the Heat.
Still cold where you are?
If not, lucky you.
Boy seeing the news photos and video of the east coast is crazy.
Watching the flooding and freezing in Boston was incredible.
I am most thankful that we have no snow left and it is just windy and damn cold.
Earlier this year Rick's winter prediction for us in this area would be very cold but not much snow. So far he is correct again. 31st winter he has predicted correctly. His theory is "squirrels don't lie, they show you what is going to happen if you pay attention." Weirdo.
Businesses and schools have closed due to cold. Rick had an appointment with his kidney doctor (yes, he has kidney disease) and it took him 6 weeks to get in. They called and canceled because it was cold. Can you hear my tone in that?
C'mon, the building has heat, your car has heat. How ridiculous! It is winter, it is cold. It was 23 yesterday it wasn't single digits. I find humans becoming very very wussy.
This morning I called the office to see if they were open today. Yes, they were. I asked if they lost power or heat. Neither she said, they were closed because it was cold. It is hard not to be angry about that. It's winter, it's cold, c'mon.
So I bit my tongue and asked if I could reschedule him. They said no, a nurse will have to call you to do that. Great, can I speak to a nurse since I am already on the phone? No, they will call you when they can figure out where to move him. Time for a new doctor? Poor guy is miserable. I am looking for a new doctor if we do not hear from them today, this is just silly.
After speaking to my husband's doctors office I felt like this.

Here is a great photo of the beach taken from the sand.
This is Lake Erie folks - pretty isn't it?

The Weather Outside is Frightful
Okay. I am finished with winter.
A few weeks is enough. Bring on the warm weather.
Oh, it looks so deceiving outside, all sunny and blue skies.
But it's 4 degrees people. Not good.
Do not go outside.
I was sent this picture by a friend in Erie PA
It reminds me that I should be thankful we don't have snow just freezing temps and winds.
If we didn't have a dog there would be no way we'd get up and out so early let alone when this cold. Neither of us wanted to leave our bed. Rick took her out much more than me yesterday because I am a weather wuss under 20 degrees. But damn, it's not any warmer.
I rolled over and said to him if he loved me he would do this until spring.
His response? "Ah, c'mon I love you but it's cold - waaaaaah, waaah. Manly huh? You want me now don't you?" Oh, my big goofball.
He got up and got dressed then went into the bathroom.
I jumped up and threw on dirty clothes and took out the dog.
When Iz and I returned Rick had coffee poured for me.
However, I had to pee so badly and when it's cold that doesn't help the situation. Cold only makes Izzy happy, happy, happy. She will just smell everything and lollygag. So I ran by my poured cup of coffee straight into the bathroom. Where the warm water washing over my hands stung my fingers because they were so cold. Yes, I was wearing gloves! It is just horrible cold.
Rick thanked me a million times. I told him that I knew it was my turn but I just didn't want to do it. Then I felt bad when you got up so I figured I can just run out faster than you.
By next Monday they are saying it will be in the 40's again. Whew. It will get rather warm later today, 32. But then drop again for the next few days. Except for my clothing, I don't need a single digit for anything! (and who am I kidding there are no single digits for me in clothing either)
I think I need to eat more because it's so cold. But those 18lbs don't need friends so I am limiting my food intake and by God I should have lost more by now. I mean it's the 2nd day!!

2018
Hard to get back in the swing of work and schedules.
This is the first time I have had time off work and took time off work.
Normally I still do some type of work that needs to be done when one is self employed. But this time I wanted to do nothing and I did just that. It was glorious.
Our anniversary on the 31st was different too. Normally we do fun things during the day and then we go out to dinner and are sure to get home before the crazies are on the road. But we didn't do that either.
We made dinner at home and snuggled in for the night with a movie and a glass of wine. Asleep before midnight like good old people. It was a quiet weird anniversary this year and that was okay with us.
We got an inch of snow and of course this area goes bat shit crazy.
Thankfully there were no schools to close or work to miss. It was the holiday.
On Dec 30th I was on my way to Lowes to pick up more mastic (for tiling).
Rick was running low and while he was working on the bathroom I thought I'd run to the store for him. I walked out to my car, oh what a surprise.
My car was parked on the side of our home. I walked around the side and see a car smacked into my car - still attached. The person in the car was a kid, her shoulders were going up and down and she was in the "ugly"cry.
To say I was unhappy would be an under statement but boy was she a mess.
I knocked on the window and saw that this young girl was 16-17 at best.
Crying her eyes out. She was on the phone talking to her father I could tell.
She got out of the car, shivering and crying hysterically. I called Rick in the mean time to come out and move the fenders apart so we would no longer be attached. By the time Rick was outside she was now able to speak. I did my best to calm her down.
When she was able to speak I asked her what happened. She said she turned onto the street and her car slid so she slammed on the brakes and hit me.
One doesn't slam on the brakes when you are sliding. But I didn't think this was the time to teach her winter driving 101. They don't teach that here in the south and I don't understand why. I mean each winter we get snow and ice. No, it is not like Erie PA but if you get it at all, one should learn how to drive on it. Either way it doesn't matter, she really didn't have enough time to straighten herself out even if she didn't slam on the brakes. It just is what it is.
Because she couldn't stop crying I told her to relax, this was an accident. Neither of us were hurt. Cars can be fixed. Her father won't kill her. We exchanged insurance information. We got her calm. Rick released the two cars and I was able to back up. He then pushed the fender so it wasn't rubbing on the tire so I could drive my car. Then we attended her.
She didn't even have a coat. So I gave her a blanket we had in the car. She called her sister who came right away. Her sister is home from college. She was calm and asked if I would speak to her father. Her father got on the phone and asked if I would be there in a couple of hours. He was heading back and would be there in 1.5 - 2hrs. I said that was fine. He asked if he could see it because he would prefer to not put this through his insurance and would like to pay out of pocket. He asked if I was okay with that. I explained that this was not a small dent, this was a biggie and I was not certain I wished to do that. He asked me to hold on until he got there. I agreed since I knew they lived 2 1/2 blocks from me.
He arrived at our door with a big ole mallet in his hand. As Rick opened the door, Izzy was next to him. Izzy the big guard dog does not bark at people at the door. She is just happy to see you and wags her tail.
This man walked in with mallet in hand and saw Izzy and said, "Oh this is Izzy's house"
That made us all laugh. He shook Rick's hand and said, "We've talk a couple of times when you've walked by my house. Your dog amazes me because she is not on a leash and never leaves your side." Once again, everyone knows our dog and not us and that makes us laugh. Introductions were made outside of Izzy and we had a seat at the island.
As he stood there with the mallet Rick asked if he was planing to hit us or what was he thinking? He told us he really thought he could just pound out the damage with this. Oh my goodness. Look, this may be an older car but we aren't the Beverly Hillbillies and I am not having some ya-hoo do that to my car. After he saw the car he laughed and said, "Oh it's far worse than the photos showed so I guess we will have to go through the insurance company." No shit sherlock.
He kept saying this will be about $1,500. I laughed and said I thought that was doubtful because the last guy that hit me when I was at a stop sign was far less damage and cost far more than 3,000 plus a rental car.
He is delusional.
I was told that I would hear from his insurance Saturday. I did not.
I called them myself this morning. I was told a claim was filed online and that the adjuster will call me today.
That saves me from washing my car I suppose. I would have gone through an automatic car wash but since the adjuster has not seen my car I will wait.
That is my start for 2018. Nowhere to go but up right?

Binged on The Marvelous Mrs Maisel
I binged watched The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
I LOVED IT!!!
I read that it is up for a few Golden Globes.
Apparently, a lot of people agree with me then.
This was watched by me in the wee hours of the morning.
Rick and the dog were snoring and I couldn't sleep.
So I went downstairs and thought I'd see what all the buzz was about.
I thought the 1st episode was okay so I watched the next.
Okay, it's getting better.
Before you know it I had watched it all and had fallen in love with these people.
I loved everything about it. I could relate to all things except the rich upper west side parents. I had the working class parents in the burbs.
This Jewish family is my family.
The only difference is my parents are Italian.
So many similarities though I think it would shock most people.
Just shows you we are all the same really.
The things her father expected of her were things my father had said to me many many times in my youth. You see to my father college for women was a waste of money. He would say to me that college was for women to go find a husband. It was not for education. Females didn't need an education he would tell me.
Amazing to me that he thought that way.
This takes place in the mid to late 50's.
This bright, smart, funny, beautiful woman is ahead of her time.
She thinks she had it all until her husband comes home and tells her he is leaving her for his secretary.
He is unhappy with how his life has turned out, or so he thinks.
She is feisty and wants everything a man does. Society won't let her.
On a shallow note - I love the clothes she wears.Swing coats to die for. But the gloves killed me. I remember having to wear clothes to go shopping downtown. She pushes a baby stroller in heels, dress and gloves with her bracelet over her gloves like my mom did.
How silly that all is to me now.
But back to the story.
All of the actors are top notch. Her mother is a hoot and overbearing. I would have been miserable if I had a mom whose sole thought was one must be skinny and pretty to live a good life. But the comments on the baby's big forehead did make me laugh.
Here is what the internet says about the show below.
It's the late 1950s and Miriam "Midge" Maisel has everything she has ever wanted -- the perfect husband, two kids and an elegant apartment on New York's Upper West Side. Her seemingly idyllic life takes a surprising turn when she discovers a hidden talent she didn't previously know she had -- stand-up comedy. This revelation changes her life forever as she begins a journey that takes her from her comfortable life on the Upper West Side through the cafes and nightclubs of Greenwich Village as she makes her way through the city's comedy industry on a path that could ultimately lead her to a spot on the "Tonight Show" couch.
I hope you get an opportunity to watch this comedy. I don't know that men will enjoy since there is nothing that blows up but tempers and no bloodshed or violence. Rapid fire speech, yes, not rapid gunfire.

Lunch
It started with all these damn steroids I had to take for this mass in my right eye. Then mix in the holiday food, booze and my overindulging.
I have gained 18 lbs this year and feel like shit.
So what do I do? Go to the grocery store. Yeah, that man and dog who lives with me still want to eat. How dare them!
Being only 5'1" 18 lbs is like 40 on a normal height person.
I am walking from the parking lot into the grocery store and I feel this lump on my side towards my back. It's my side back.
I am in horror thinking, dear Lord that can't be a fat roll could it?
Oh my God. I am now freaking out. I have a back roll from 18 lbs?
As I walk this long walk to the store I am playing this over in my head.
I will not eat more than ice and breathe.
I can now feel this back/side fat each time I swing my arms.
Oh Lordie.
I am walking through the veggie aisle and all I can think is this feels like shit. I need more veggies. Back fat won't survive on veggies!!
Then while standing in the long line at the deli counter for Rick's goodies I got a bit warm.
I am assuming that because I am now18 lbs fatter I am just a big fat sweaty pig. Oh Great. This just keeps getting better. No Margaret, your stomach did not just growl. You can never eat again woman! Do you feel that fat roll? No food for you!
I take off my fleece coat. As I get my left arm out of the sleeve I realize that I had a scarf folded in half and stuffed in my sleeve.
That big fat roll I thought I had on my back was my big damn scarf. Whew.
As I stand there in line I, of course, burst out laughing at my blonde moment. People looked at me and I didn't care - IT'S NOT A FAT ROLL, IT'S JUST A SCARF !!

Snowmageddon in Pennsylvania
My hometown has been all over the national news and morning shows over the holiday.
63.8 inches of snow and it continues to fall as I type this.
So much in a short time that they made the national news.
63 inches. I am only 61 inches.
Erie Pennsylvania is used to lots of snow.
Reason number 2 why I no longer live there.
It is just like Buffalo only a smaller city so less news coverage so you may not know.
But it's on a lake, a big beautiful Great Lake - so lake effect snows are normal.
Thunder and lightning in a snowstorm are also normal around those parts.
When Rick first moved to Erie he heard "Thundersnow" for the first time.
I was with him and he jumped and said, "Hey that was thunder"
Being ever the smart ass I responded, "Very good Rick"
He kept saying, "Well that isn't normal."
Well, actually it is here. I never knew it was rare.
We heard it a lot during a storm growing up.
"They," say it should stop around 6 ft of snow. I sure hope so. Crazy huh?
My sister got trapped and when she tried to leave her boyfriends she got stuck. She was pulled out of the ditch with the ole chains and then her windshield wiper broke off. Whiteouts with no wiper are not good.
She couldn't see anything and turned back in a whiteout, white-knuckle drive. fun, fun, fun. She has been trapped there for days.
She didn't even get to see her children on Christmas or her entire family.
She is still not home.
I have another sister who couldn't get out of her house to be with the family for Christmas.
Those stuck at my parents home include my niece and her hubby who came home for the holiday from Florida no less. But they have been a great help in getting the shoveling done for them. It is a nonstop effort.
My parents have a snow plow service. But they had nowhere to put their cars in the driveway. It was all a big ole cluster. Then when they got a good portion of the double driveway clear the plows came through and left them an enormous pile of snow at the end of the driveway to get through.
I said to my niece, you have food, toilet paper, booze - enjoy being stuck in the house. You said you missed the family - boy are you ever getting caught up.
Besides, leftover lasagna and prime rib ain't so bad!
I predict a baby boom in 9 months 😁
My neighbor asked me if I was going home for the holiday as she was packing up her car to go to North Carolina on Thursday to be with her parents/family.
I said I don't go north in winter. She gasped, "Not even to see your family at Christmas?"
Yes, I saw her judgment all over her face.
I explained that we did that once and got stuck there for days. I saw the family in late August and I will be back in spring/summer. Driving through the mountains to go north isn't so great either let alone what I find when I get to the northern-most part of Pennsylvania.
I knew she thought I was a terrible person to not go home.
Then last evening as I was coming around the corner with Izzy she and her hubby and kids were getting out of the car. She and her husband stopped to chat with me. She said, "I really thought you were being a bit dramatic about getting stuck in Erie due to inclement weather. But seeing this all over the news I couldn't help but think of you. You weren't dramatic at all. I couldn't wrap my head around that amount of snow" No shit!
I knew she didn't understand as most don't. I get it. Until you get stuck up there, live there or visit in winter, you don't know. I had to be at work down here. I imagine if I got stuck up there I'd be there for 3 weeks.
Then I would be on the news. Murder or suicide or perhaps both.
C'mon, weeks stuck in the house with my family would do me in.
Last night a good friend sent me a private message from FB. He is stuck in upstate NY with his mother and 2 older brothers who love Trump and hates gays. (my friend is gay). So, of course, my friend who doesn't love Trump or love listening to his mother tell him every 5 minutes how lonely she is was about to crack. All of his suggestions, like staying with him, were met with I could never do that I just prefer to whine to you and give you guilt about my loneliness.
Okay not her exact words but she was adamant that all of his suggestions were horrible except him moving back to his childhood bedroom.
He wrote to me to vent. I did not tell him I was chuckling.
He said writing to me was his sanity at the moment.
I was laughing at his stories as I read them to Rick.
He said he has gone through a 1.75L of vodka over a couple of days as well as shoveled for days. He wants to get home (Delaware) Thankfully his mother has wi-fi because watching Faux News was not his thing.
He was going mad and he felt certain if he can't get out today he will walk home.
I was laughing at his stories but honestly, that is how I would have felt too. I hope he gets out safely and soon.
I was going to send this to him but decided it may send him over the edge.
But I did send it to my family members up north. It actually makes me a bit sick to my stomach when I saw it. Been there - done that. Never again!
All I know is it's almost over. The dreaded holidays & the snow for a few days anyway. All I know is that my diet is due. I feel like crap and look like crap. So back on the saddle - but I will wait until after New Years because it is my anniversary and I will have a cocktail. Can't do that and diet. But I am ready. You know it's time when you want to diet.
I hope you all had a wonderful, peaceful snow-less holiday.
It's almost 2018.
