Pacemaker Implanted

We were up at 3:45 am. Neither of us slept a lick.

We got here at 5:30am. Here is the time as I write this.
Ricks surgery went well. But he had some swelling in his limbs so he has been given 2 IV's of Lasix (sp?) It is making him pee volumes.

He has had xrays, we've met with the company head of the pacemaker, and we spoke to a nurse who went over do's and don'ts.

At 5p he is given an antibiotic so no infection I guess. All we want to know is when we can go home! We both need sleep.

The Dr came in right after the surgery to say it went better than expected and he would be going home and he didn't need him to overnight.

But honestly it will be 12 hrs we've been here by the time he gets his next antibiotic. And the antibiotic is given via IV, so that takes longer.

We both are begging to go home.

Rick can take deep breathes now and he feels great but tired.

I do not think either of us will have too much trouble sleeping tonight.

We just want out!

Happy to hear it went well. Like justice, the wheels of medicine turn slowly! Sleep well.

I hope you are at home by now and enjoying sleeping in your own bed and sitting on your favorite chair or sofa. That sounds like the surgery was a success.

Rest well, both of ya! Sleep in, eat good stuff. Watch bad TV. Or, eat bad stuff, watch good TV. :)

That good news! Do they still tell people with pacemakers to stay away from microwaves? Or has that changed since the olden days when they first came out?

Great news. Hopefully now, you two will get a break and rest, rest & rest.

Linda, so far so good. Part 2 on October 30th.

Bobi, I sure slept the next day - both of us did.
It felt great, even if it was on the sofa.

Mike 😀

Ami, we did both.

Jean, no that is no longer an issue in the 21st century. That is how they told us anyway. But he has some real bad things that he must avoid and it is upsetting him.

Paul, yep until part 2 on the 30th October.

All in all though, good news. I presume by now, you're home and caught up on sleep. Hospitals are the worst places to try to sleep.
