Rick was scheduled for a cardioversion this morning at 8:45 a.m.
At 3:08 a.m. he got up thinking his clock said 8:08 and he thought we were late. He yelled for me to get up. He was brushing his teeth and I got up.
I opened the blinds and saw it was dark out and then looked at the clock. Rick comes out of the bathroom dressed and ready to go. (he showered the night before and shaved so he would be able to just get up and go)
I said to Rick, "It's only 3 in the morning, put your glasses on!"
We laughed and neither of us could go back to sleep. I didn't make coffee since he couldn't have it and I knew the smell would make him want it.
After he took small sips of water for his pills that was all he could have.
We get registered and get sent back to the room where this will take place.
We saw the 2 nurses he had last time which made him laugh. They all hugged. They got Rick hooked up to the EKG machine first. They did his EKG and Kat said, "Ah, this is normal" So she went to get another nurse.
They did it a second time and then got a doctor. It was all normal. The flecainide did put it back into rhythm. They took his vitals and the doctor said there is no reason to do this today. They were going to let his doctor/cardiologist know. They told us he would call us later this afternoon.
Rick still has shortness of breath. The doctor who was in the room asked if Rick knew when it went back into rhythm. No, he does not. He said it could take time to get your breathing back to normal but let's see what Dr. Friedman (cardiologist) says.
The nurses said that Rick was their favorite patient and they were sad he had to go so soon but they also hope he never has to come back. Kat said maybe we can see you outside of the hospital next time. :-)
To say we were thrilled is an understatement. Rick is currently in bed sleeping away and I hope to join him later.
I have to share a funny -
The other morning Rick is getting dressed. I heard something, I thought laughter but not being sure I ran down the hall to check on him.
He is sitting on the edge of the bed without a shirt on and laughing.
I asked what was so funny. He tells me he put both his legs in one of the leg holes of his underwear and as he pulled them up he realized what he had done and was just laughing at himself. Whew.
I left to continue what I was doing in the kitchen.
He walked into the kitchen and his shirt was inside out.
I began to laugh and said, "Bad morning? Because your shirt is inside out you goofball."
Then Rick says, "What the @#$! is wrong with me, did I have a stroke or something?"
And life goes on. 😀

Bobi, we will because what choice do we have?
Did I tell you about the small handheld heart monitor? I bought one and it works. I spent extra money for the 6 lead one instead of the single lead. It's up stairs and I can't remember the name right now. I'll send you the info later.
Mike we can monitor it on the blood pressure machine. It tells you your heart rate as well. His is going up each hour.
New visitor- I enjoyed reading about the oops...I sure do that alot lately. My husband, who is just too cool to do anything silly, recently left his screw drive in the kitchen pantry. I said, A-HA! I am not the only one doing such a thing! Glad your husband is better.
Great news, Peggy! Nothing like getting up at 3am, then told you can just go back home, nothing to see. But in this case, yay!
Fantastic news Peg. It;s about time.
