Had a flashback of my youth Sunday morning.
Pat Benetar and Neil Giraldo were featured on CBS Sunday morning.
For me, it was a twofer.
I loved Benetar back in the day and she was now on my favorite program.
Benetar was a favorite in my 20s and 30s and this show has been my favorite show forever. To think I didn't discover this show until I was 22 years old.
Oh sure I saw it on TV before age 22, but at this time I was living in my apartment with a roommate who was always losing the remote. I was home lying on the sofa sick probably more like hungover and feeling like crap. Susan (roommate) had stayed at her dates the night before so I was home alone and with no way to change the channel except to get off the sofa to search. I was stuck with this channel on because I was too lazy to go search for the remote control for more than the room I was in. I watched the entire show and thought, why did I think this was old people's stuff? Pop Culture, a little history, current events, and always nature. A little bit of everything.
And don't you think for a minute that I don't take a lot of crap over the years about loving this show. It was a big joke with my group of friends.When I was around 37/38 a friend of mine had a husband who worked at a radio station. (fred) At that time Charles Osgood was the new host taking over for Charles Kuralt.
Fred was one of the people who loved to tease me about that being a show I would buy blank VHS tapes to record the show should I not be home on a Sunday morning at 9am. So as you can put together yourself I got shit for being a tramp for staying at my boyfriend's house and I got shit for watching this Grandma's show as he called it.
At some point at the radio station where Fred worked, Charles Osgood was there for some reason. I do not recall the lie I was given.
Fred claims to have asked him to sign this 8x10 glossy of him to me.
I don't believe for a minute the real C.Osgood wrote this. Fred had to have gotten a photo and he signed it himself. I also was given this letter holder for my desk called the Osgood Files (name of his radio show) with said photo. For YEARS Fred insists Charles was doing a publicity tour and this was real. I will never believe that Fred isn't just messing with me. Fred signed this not Charles. Fred laughs like crazy each time he insists it is him and I laugh and say I know you're lying which makes him laugh more. He says he laughs because I don't believe him. I will never believe him. For many many years he teased me about him and then this just happens? Nope, Fred is lying to me.

Now "see you on the radio" was what he said at the end of the show (he had the above-mentioned Osgood files on the radio) I finally threw away the 8x10 photo in this move. It always made me laugh. 😁
So there ya have it. Some history on my love of CBS Sunday Morning.

Oh and Look, Pat and I now have the same hair color just like we did in the 80s. 😂

I had to laugh, because I am a big fan of Sunday Morning. I set it to record, since we are usually off to church and I love fast forwarding through the commercials too. I didn't go this morning (had a bit of a headache), and I saw the piece on Pat ~ she's a classy lady for sure!
What I like about it: the smorgasbord of clips on interesting stuff, and yeah, I enjoy the last bit when they show a beautiful wildlife or scenery. Yep.
omigosh, thanks for sharing this since I don't typically watch that "Grandma's show". Maybe I'll start tuning in now.
What a great feature! I LOVED Pat Benatar back in the '80s and '90s! Had all her albums. She's still a badass!

I did a little investigating. She's 68 and looking good. Her maiden name was Patricia Mae Andrzejewski. She married Dennis Benatar but then divorced. Then she married Neil Giraldo. The rest is history. The two of them have been married for 40 years. Unbelievable in the rock industry.
Since I record the show, I just finished watching it. I wasn't a fan of Benatar, mainly because disco had chased me to country music before she come on the scene. But while watching the show, I understand her attraction to Neil Giraldo. He was and is a great looking guy.
Loved Charles Osgood. I think he is still alive so you could have checked but you threw away the pic. Awww:)

Mike, because I loved her in the 80s I knew all of that. They did a blues album in the 90s that was da bomb!
Patti, I too record it each week. He is indeed alive at 88. And no matter what anyone says Charles did not sign that to me. Rick said that he did as well. But we all know Rick will pull a prank for 30 yrs and never tell the truth!

I always loved PB because she was smokin' hot and so were the songs.

Bluzdude, that's what my hubby told me. He too thought she was hot.
We watch it every Sunday morning while we eat our breakfast and then taking on the day. This has become a ritual since we moved here in 2016. I also loved Pat B and I enjoyed last Sundays segment very much. I thought she was looking as good as ever. Ranee (MN)
