It's 2:09AM. Izzy has been odd all day. Wasn't interested in swimming, or doing anything. Rick took her to the pond and she just sat next to him.
She wanted to lay outside all day.
I noticed her breathing was very fast. I began to wonder if she was having side effects from yesterday's bortatella vaccine. She never has before, but she is almost 13 and who knows. I called the vet to be sure. I was poo poo'd by a female vet on call and I was actually told it was the stress of her visit yesterday. The equivalent of mansplaining while patting my head. #@!$$%*&!(&#
I told her that was ridiculous, I'd rather you tell me you have no clue. I asked the name of a local 24 hr animal ER/hospital should I need it.
She gave me a name.
Rick went to bed and I stayed up to finish watching the game. At midnight Izzy threw up in the kitchen, at the front door, (carpet), on the front porch, and then she got to the grass and peed. She walked over towards the porch but stayed on the cool grass and laid down.
By this time Rick was awake from the outside lights glaring into the bedroom window. (curtains not up yet). He helped clean up the floor in every room. Then I sat on the floor with Izzy and just rubbed her,as we do when she is ill..
Her breathing was normal now. She got off the floor and went into her living room bed and curled up. I am hoping that's a good sign. She is asleep now and here I am wide awake.
The fun continues...

I hope Izzy has recovered by now.
I guess stress is the new buzzword for vets. My sister was asked if she maybe moved a chair in her house. No doubt something like that would cause irreparable harm to her pet's mental health.
Olga, moved a chair?! I would so appreciate them saying I don't know why. She was at vet had full blood panel, got her nails trimmed and a vaccine. 24hrs later she is very sick. Come on that isn't normal.
This poor thing has moved 3 times since August 25th. If anything is stressing her it's a move but she seems to love it here. And she's taken to this place far better. She seems ok this morning, just moving slow. We shall see. Maybe the vaccine gave her side effects that she's never had, but neither her visit to the vet or moving a chair caused her to vomit!🙂
Callie just went through something similar and the vet said she had asthma. Well I did some digging and found that some of the grain free dog foods use pea protein and some dogs have developed cardiomyopathy from it. I found her a pea free food and she is better. Don't you wish they could talk and tell us what is going on?
This was really hard to read. It sounds to similar to the way Levi acted before he died. Dogs get dehydrated quickly from vomiting and peeing and I know I don't have to tell you to get Izzy to ER if she continues.
Levi reacted badly from a vaccinate once, never even made it out of the vet's office before passing out. To have a vet poo poo it happening would be annoying to say the least. A thousand dogs could have no issues with a vaccine but if it's your dog having a action it's serious to you.
Aw, poor Izzy (and you guys). Hopefully just a bug and she's better soon!
It's like Izzy is my dog and every time you mention about poor Izzy I worry. Sorry about that Peg, I must be crazy. Hopefully after the shot she'll be better. How about you Peg? Are you feeling OK?
Cruisin Paul
Hang in there Izzy! I predict the Izzyness will return.
Hope she's still feeling better!
Oh my gosh. Poor Izzy has been under a lot of stress all the way back to before you left. However, I do think she could have had a reaction to the shot even though she has not had a reaction before. I don't have any sage advice and I'm praying that it is just stress and not anything wrong. My fingers are crossed and good vibes sent your way.
My dog had a reaction to a vaccine and my vet flat out told me that is what was going on. He doesn't have the best bedside manner but he is unfailingly honest.
Not to say he is rude but he is so loving to his animal clients but with their owners...he just tolerates them.
My dog was fine after 2 days, I hope Izzy will be also.
