Ramblin'

I listened to an interview on Sirius this past week with Jon Hamm.
It was 2 hrs and 3 minutes long. No commercials and no censorship.
It was a great interview. Know what I liked most?
What I liked most is that he is a nice midwestern boy. (STL)

In all seriousness, I have been disappointed in the past when I tune in to hear someone I like, they are weird or worse, not nice people.
That was not the case with Jon Hamm. I was happily surprised!
My goodness he is as great as he is handsome. Not bad eh? And he's so funny and he's friends with my other midwestern boy Paul Rudd. He mentioned he was friends with Joe Buck but I have decided I won't hold this against him. He has to have a flaw or two.

I went to Costco yesterday as I mentioned to you in my previous blog post.
Rick drove because of my ankle which I'll fill you in on later. But Rick can't go into costco. Rick knows this. In fact he told me he'd drive and stay in the car. I was shocked. The man loves Costco but I hate him going. I've told you all a million times I sent him to fetch my favorite pens I could not find anywhere including all office supply stores, and he came home having spent well over $400 and no friggin' pens!
Rick sees meat and before you know it we've spent $400 on meat alone and we still have to shop for what we came for.

So Mr. No Willpower decided to stay in the car and send me in with his list. He said he couldn't be trusted and I don't trust him at Costco, its the other woman. At least he knows himself. It was killing him to be in the car I just knew it!

I text him to tell him about a couple things on his list they don't have. I explain how they are out of a lot of things. He text back, c'mon really? So I suggest he come in and learn restraint. I received back an emoji laughing.

He arrives at the meat dept and sees they are out of everything and I'm not crazy. We proceed to shop and he picks up this, picks up that. He is just winging things into the cart.  Finally I say, remember we have a budget. I gave him the head tilt. He laughed and put back the bag of several hundred tortillas as if one person needs that many flour tortillas when he has some at home. (and he is the only one who eats them)
-----------
In other news Rick and I are watching a show on Apple called Bad Sisters. There is a character who all on the show refer to as The Prick. Last week's episode ended making us think they killed him, finally. But he arose from the ashes so speak and The Prick is alive. I am so invested in this that I want him dead and STAT.
This show has sucked me in big time! Sucked us both in. We have flirted with not watching until all episodes can be streamed. But the frustration this week made us agree that we will not watch weekly when only 1 episode drops but to wait until we can watch to the end.
------------
The other evening while watching a game they kept saying we won AL East title. I even repeated it here. But looking over schedule it's not locked up just yet!! So we have a ways to go. Then again I'm bad at math. I think I'm right this time though. But it's been a fun season over all, no matter how it ends.

I remember one time I went to Costco and bought one thing. I don't even recall what it was, but it was something I could only get at Costco. So I got the one thing, then went to the checkout, and the person in front of me was incredulous. "ONE item?? How do you DO that at Costco?!"

Oh that's funny and you're a weirdo. All at the same time. I didn't know that was possible and heaven knows neither dies my husband.

Okay so I've never heard of Jon Hamm, never been in Costco, and never seen Bad Sisters. I'm not doing well here amI?. But I do love these long podcast interviews where you get to find out what people are really like.

I use to go with Mary Lou to Costco but now Mary Lou goes by herself. I'm like Rick. When I'm there, I buy things I think we need but in reality it's only something I want so now I stay away from the place. Mary Lou always asks me what I want and I always say nothing even I want so many things.I guess I'm one of those Mr. No Willpower . LOL Have a great weekend and we are getting a lot of rain. Thank God.

My husband was like Rick in Costco too. I think they put something in the air that only men can smell and it turns on their ancient hunting genes.

LL- Jon Hamm was in The hit American TV show, Mad Men. Also in the new Top Gun. Now Bad Sisters is UK show. Filmed in Ireland. Sharon Horgan is a very famous Brit.who writes delicious comedy and drama shies. There is your history for today😁

Never shopped at Costco but a similar big box--Sam's--in Florida. I would take a flatbed cart in to get dog food for my shelter and managed to stack it to as tall as I was with whatever. Really glad tiny town doesn't have one. Those stores demand impulse buying.

Margaret (Peggy or Peg too) said...

Patti, Sam's is just like Costco. You understand it's magnetic pull. 😁

I don't go to Costco much and the meat is cheaper at Winco. I can easily come out of there with one thing lol. Everything is at least $10 there so $10 x each time in your basket goes quick.

What's wrong with Joe Buck? (I mean besides the hair.) Not my fave, but more tolerable than Cris Collinsworth.

Margaret (Peggy or Peg too) said...

Julie, never heard of winco. Gee not everything is $10. Your costco is far more expensive than mine then.

Bobi, everything is wrong with Joe Buck. You know there are sires dedicated to "I hate Joe buck" I only watch baseball. He is a horrendous announcer. Yammers too much. If he was the announcer we'd mute the tv and watch with music in the background. He is bias as well. But mostly he NEVER shuts up and let's the game play.

Bobi, that should read 'sites' above

Margaret (Peggy or Peg too) said...

Mike, sure we all have but because you forgot or because you were in a meat trance?

I watch football. Call me clueless! Funny, I looked it up. There's an "I hate Cris Collinsworth" site too. Hilarious. With fewer games in football and Fox rotating announcers, we were never stuck with Buck (like my rhyme?) very often. I find Collinsworth much more annoying because he's always on SNF. I wasn't really sorry to see Buck/Aikman go to ESPN, though. I can see where he would be annoying if you had a 3-4 game series though versus the occasional weekly game. Too bad there was no FB or Reddit back when Howard Cosell was around.

Margaret (Peggy or Peg too) said...

Bobi - oh my goodness you are correct about Cosell. :-)

Thank you for mentioning The Bad Sisters. I am totally hooked now. Just want to say too how much I enjoy
your blog. My niece lives in Chapel Hill so I am a tiny bit familiar with Raleigh.

Margaret (Peggy or Peg too) said...

Lea, yeah!I too love the show as you know. I did not watch this week's. We are waiting until it's over. I'd personally kill "The Prick" myself. Thx for stopping by, means the world. Chapel Hill is very nice. Sadly I don't live there πŸ™‚

I didn't research this beforehand but I read once that John Hamm was the President of a fraternity at the University of Texas that got in serious serious trouble over a hazing incident. I really hate hazing so I've been holding this against him. Maybe it wasn't true and he really is a nice guy. Or maybe I'm overly sensitive about hazing because one of my son's friends died in a hazing incident.

Margaret (Peggy or Peg too) said...

Barbara - wow. I don't think you are overly sensitive. I hope 51 yr old Jon is ashamed or hope he is. That is not funny to me in any way!
