We hit the jackpot last night.
I opened a box titled hall closet. It was my bedroom things. We keep skipping this box because we don't have a place for more hall closet things since we don't have a hall closet. But boy was I thrilled to find my socks and warmer clothing. Just in time for a cool spell today of only 67 degrees. These items were a full floor away from the hall closet. See what I mean? I think that is why it was cheap to have them pack. They packed very well. But the surprise to find what's inside is the humorous and annoying part.
I am tired of waiting to paint. I know most certainly that most don't ever wish to paint. But these colors make even Rick want to paint. Since each and every room needs painted it would certainly make sense to do that first before putting up window treatments and all the bedding etc. But I may never get paint from the looks of things. So I just began doing things just to not be having my head in a box. Rick was working in the garage and came in and used the hall bathroom. He walked out and said it looks worse in there now. I just said, Thanks. No, that blinding turquoise looks even worse with our shower curtain etc. I know but I'm sick of things in a box Rick. He laughed and said okay.
Tuesday he flies up to Dulles airport to pick up his big truck/work van. That van houses all his work painting things. He will be stopping at a couple of stores and then home. (maybe we can get some paint up there) The cost to fly up there was $77 and honestly, we couldn't drive any cheaper. He will uber to our house. A neighbor has been keeping an eye on Rick's van for us. He sends us the funniest photos. The other day he text Rick a pic of their dog who loved Izzy, with this sad face sitting next to Rick's van with the caption - we miss you guys! It was cute.
Every since this move Izzy had been a velcro dog. She doesn't like either of us out of eye sight. She wants us to all be together. Her pack must be in the same room so she is happy. If not all together she will be antsy. And we all know that we can't always be together.
The other night Rick was exhausted and I was wide awake so he kissed me and went to bed. I was going to then catch up on the shows I watch that he doesn't. Izzy wouldn't have it. She came out of the bedroom to get me. She was herding me into the bedroom. When I said no, I was watching TV, go to bed. She stood there and stared at me. I had to laugh at the look on her face. I sat back down and she came over to me and hit my knee with her nose. She then faced the hall, as if to say, c'mon let's go to bed. I finally walked back to the bedroom as she got in bed. Rick said, "decided to come to bed?" I said, "No, Izzy is herding me again" He laughed.
Last night she did it again to me. I said I am not moving, I am the human, go to bed or don't but I'm not going Izzy. Then I laugh at myself for having a "discussion" with my dog. She was not happy so she got in her bed in the living room and I know she thought I'll just wait for her. Fine with me. So I finished up The Morning Show on Apple TV and she laid in her bed in the living room staring a hole through me. When I was ready for bed and turned off the TV she immediately jumped up and walked with me down the hall. She is one goofy dog.
If I get my keys she runs to the car because that means a ride. If Rick goes to the garage she has to go too. If I'm still in the house she will always choose Rick. She adores him and looks at him in a way that if she were human I'd have to make her leave our home!😮 Crazy dog. But she has gotten noticeably worse with all the little moves. I hope she will settle down but I fear at her age this is her thing now. Which will mean a new latch for the hall bathroom.

There are plenty of memes about people not being able to go to the bathroom without every animal in the house coming with them.
Well then Mike I may make a meme. Do they smell the owners underwear too? This dog is nutso
It takes time for animals to get used to the idea that they are in a new forever home. She's been through a lot of stress since you listed your old house, just like you guys were. I think Lzzy is acting very typical under the circumstance.
My animals do that too, so funny how they know time and where we should be.
Moving is hard on man and beast. Such sad eyes in the picture of her watching Rick watching her. I'm sure she thinks every car ride will take her back to the old home. This may take a while. Just give her a little extra attention and since Rick is her man, let him do the heavy lifting.
PS. That turquoise really is horrid.
It does take time for our pets to acclimate when we move. When we moved to New Mexico we only had a cat. She spent so much time under the bed! Silly cat.... I think it will take a little time. Maybe it's the smell? Dogs have a great sense of smell. In time it should smell better :-)
Scruffy is not herself either. Very clingy and much more sedate (unless there is another dog or squirrel around). I think she is pissed at Tommy for having her coat thinned out just before it got chilly too.
Bless her heart (remember you're a Southerner now), I hope she finds a reason to settle down. That big old yard should have some good areas to explore. There has been a lot of change in her life, including the hotel stay, and if she is like the rest of us old folks, it takes longer and longer to accept change. Rick's trip to pick up the truck will be tough for her but maybe when the truck is back beside yours at the house she will start to feel a little more connected. I hope Rick is able to get the paint you need. I can't imagine paint stores running out of paint. Don't we make paint here in the US?
We have discussions like that with our lab all the time. They pick up more than you'd think.
Our boy usually comes in for his 9:00 treat around 8:30 and I scritch his ears and tell him, "No, it's too early for your treat right now. Come see me in a half hour."
Then he turns and walks out. (I'd LIKE to say that he comes back in 30 minutes, but he doesn't understand THAT much.)
Izzy seems to be a very interesting dog as she gets older. She's so laughable. It's nice seeing a dog who shows so much love. You're lucky having Izzy.

Izzy knows how to get her point across. No doubt, all the moving has her watching you both like a hawk. Maybe the paint colors are bothering her too and she just wants you to get to painting!
