Hello fellow bloggers.
I am still hanging in there and today I have the energy to come to this site and write.
I am in the middle of tests. Funny how you go to the doctor for one thing and they find a few other things that need attention. Apparently, there is a lump in my neck. Who knew? I didn't much care. I was there to discuss my other issues.
She was persistent though and her cold hands kept feeling around my neck and throat until she asked, you don't feel this? Nope. This doesn't hurt you? Nope. So apparently it concerns her and I have to have a scan on it Friday. Yipee.
But that is not what I was there for. We still have to deal with that issue. Stop finding new things, I'm old and falling apart, there are always new things. I don't need to look for them!
So I am plugging along.
When I have answers I will tell you.
But right now it just sounds like an old person chatting about her aches and pains and who the hell needs that? I don't! So in the meantime, I am feeling a bit better and wish to bother ya'll.
I've had to take some muscle relaxers.
They should be called pass out meds.
Oh my goodness if I take them I can't be awake, just won't happen. Within minutes I am out like a light. I told Rick I wanted to wait to take it.
He was not in agreement with me. You see if he sees me in pain he wants to try to "fix" everything. He drives me nuts. I know it is so kind of him to care for me but honestly, he is a bit overbearing.
He has this need to "fix". It's a male thing. I get it but....
He brought me some soup and he sat on the bed and said, "Do you need more pillows, do you have your pills up here? Where is the heating pad? And the list of questions goes on. He runs around me in a swirl and I had to ask him to stop and sit. I explained that I appreciate all his attention, but you can't fix me, I'll get there, just help along the way babe is all I need. He can't help himself. I told him I would tell him if I needed something and for him to try to relax. It appears to be impossible until I am well. Now that I can be out of bed, you'd think he would stop. But no, until all tests are done and I am back to myself he won't be stopping.
I recall when we were young and just starting out I would bitch about something and he would tell me to do this or that.
But you see, I wasn't asking him about what to do.
I handled it. I wanted to vent. So I had to explain to him I just need to vent and you just need to listen. You don't have to "fix" everything.
So here it was again while I'm sick. So I reminded him of this issue from 30 yrs ago and he laughed and realized he was doing it now and said he can't promise but he'll try to not "fix" it. I reminded him that he can't fix me. He said, "I know that is what is bothering me most. I hate seeing you in pain and I want to fix that"
God love him. I get him. I really do. I don't always like what he's doing but I get why he is doing it. Like a parent, he is doing it with love and I'm pretty damn lucky to have him in my life to love me and annoy the shit out of me.
And he's doing a damn fine job of both. 😋

Ricks got good mothering instincts. If you can keep him dialed down to a 9 out of 10 instead of a 12, you'll be fine!
Can you take 1/2 a muscle relaxer? Maybe they're "one size fits most" and since you're teenier than "most" they seem more potent. (oops - there's that male 'fixing shit' trait!)
Hope that neck lump turns out to be some benign lymph node thingy - or like one of those bible bump lumps that show up on ones wrist sometimes.
Hang in there - hope you;re feeling better soon!
I don't think that's a man thing to want to fix you, that's just a Rick thing lol. I'd be half dead and have to text someone to come bring me water.
Count yourself lucky you only had to have the "fix" discussion once 30 years ago. We seem to have it monthly. Hope the lump is something easily fixed and that you feel better soon.

I am now beginning my diatribes with “I want to say something. Can you just listen?” Doesn’t always work but i try. I know he’s worried and loves you. It’s awful to watch our loved ones in pain or not well.
Wishing for great doctor insight to help get you on the mend in a snap. Keep us posted. 💜💜
i understand Rick's desire to fix something, kind of a male compulsion around protectiveness, but I more than understand the annoyingness of it as well. When I am sick I want the shades drawn, the lights out, the door closed, and no sound -- not the sound of a voice, not the offer of help, nothing.
Brian, you never fail to make me smile. I loved your fixing.
Julie, oh how funny. That made me laugh out loud. I'll trade you.
Sheila, they must be reminded because I swear it is in their DNA to fix it all.
Linda, thank you. You do so much to work on you that I should probably just listen and learn from.
Olga, exactly!
Lump? Well doc, if it's bothering you, just cut it out. Right now!
Well It seems that you and I must be family. They found a lump and will take care of it. Me, the found a small lump on my big toe and the doc said it looks like a cyst. Next month I go for non - invasive testing for my right leg, check on the arteries. Then in October the lump will be taken out and I hope that's it. I guess we get older we have to realize that things will change. Rick's a wonderful husband. He's probably worried as I would be if Mary Lou has any tests. I'll be with you my friend. Get well Peg. See ya.

Maybe you both need to take a knock out pill at the same time, that way he won't fuss over you. However, be sure you both take it early enough so one of you can get up before the crack of dawn with Izzy.
My husband is like yours: he wants to fix things. I'll just need to vent like you said, he gets nervous and wants to fix the cause. God bless him--could he take some anti-anxiety med?
I will pray for you, him, and results of the lumpectomy. I promise.
That Rick, he's a keeper!
Glad to see your back and am crossing my fingers for full recovery and lump-means-nothing very soon.
It's not in my husband's nature to hover, plus I've reinforced that along the way.
So happy that Rick is there annoying you for then we know you are being well taken care of. Keep it up Rick. Sure hope you find out soon what is making you bed bound---out side of those darn pills.
It really is a guy thing to want to 'fix' what we vent about isn't it. You hang in there and get what ails you cured.
I hope you're feeling a lot better soon and that it's not anything scary.
I'm married to a fix everything guy, too.
He even says it.
"I'm a man. We fix stuff."
Hubby takes those muscle relaxers and other than to help his pain, he's pretty much immune and doesn't get sleepy like most normal people. (lol) I agree with Brian and think you should try the 1/2 to see if it makes a difference. Like most of your blogger buds, we're concerned about the lump too, and sending out prayers and well wishes that all is well. When I'm sick (which is right now as I suffer with a cold and spraining my knee the other day) hubby still expects me to do laundry and have his meal prepared upon his arrival, so I'm sending him to your home to be re-trained by Rick.(lol) Keep us posted, and sending some healing hugs your way.
