We both grabbed our blue tooth headphones and put on the movie A Star Is Born.
Yes, we saw this in the theatre but we just wanted to watch it again.
Both of us really like this movie and being on our TV and in the comfort of our own home and with our popcorn made it even better.
I have to tell you, I missed a few things the first time around.
How is that I wondered?
One thing that was very obvious wearing headphones was when Jackson was having issues with his tinnitus, you could hear that noise in the headphones. Rick took his off and said, did you hear this in the theater?
I did not hear that in the theatre. It was a bit painful and I took off the headphones when that was happening.
Headphones were also great to really listen to the music in the film.
I just loved this movie.
Jumping tracks....
Rick always says since turning 50 that you go to bed fine and you wake up with a sports injury. And he did yet again.
He went to bed fine on Friday night.
He woke up Friday with a swollen ankle and searing pain in his heel.
To me, it's a lot like my Achilles pain I am dealing with.
He, of course, being a macho
We all know it won't just go away.
It just comes on yes, but it never just goes away.
On Saturday he worked a 1/2 day and came home whining about it and hobbling.
I suggest we head over to urgent care.
No, it'll be fine by tomorrow he says.
Taking the dose his dentist told him about, 1 Tylenol & 1 ibuprofen together.
Sunday I suggest he go to urgent care. No, it'll be fine he says.
Whining and taking medication to dull the pain all day. (2 of each now)
Taking this much of the medication is so not good for him & he knows it.
At 4:45pm he announces he is going to urgent care.
I told him they close at 4p on Sunday.
He doesn't' believe me so he grabs his phone to prove me wrong.
Oh, this silly man.
They closed at 4pm - all locations.
I am sometimes less right but I am never wrong.😉
After 32 years you'd think the fool would get that.
But no, he doesn't.
He suffers and when Rick suffers we all must suffer.
Today after his 2nd job I told him he can't come home until he proves he went to urgent care or the ER.
He found that hysterical.
He was laughing and asked,"how will I prove that?"
I said a receipt!
It will be wrapped correctly and I will see an Rx for the pain or swelling or something. He just keeps laughing at me.
He reminds me that he has dinner plans for me. I said we can celebrate later or another day and frankly the best birthday present would be for you to get your old arse to the ER or urgent care for me! We are going away this weekend remember? Do you really want to be this miserable when we go? He is still laughing at me. I told him to keep laughing and I'll give him more pain. He laughs harder.
I don't know a soul who is more stubborn than this old fool I'm married to.
Honestly, why must guys be so macho?
Oh, my arm is just hanging off my shoulder but with some duct tape it will be fine so I can finish the job.
My leg is bleeding & dangling so I just tied a strap around it and it will get me through the day until I can take some really good kick ass pharmaceuticals.
See it worked, he will say, no sense going to see a doctor.
This is how he thinks.
I have also found that this fool still thinks he is 35yrs old.
He is not 35 and I hate being the one who has to keep telling him so, as does his body. He will attempt something like the other day standing on this bucket. I yelled at him, "don't even think about that mister!"
He laughs at me and asked, "why not?"
He thinks he's being funny, he is not.
I told him I am not ready to be a widow and you can't get your size 13 shoes on that damn little bucket and balance. Your feet are larger than the surface of that bucket. He laughed and got his one foot down before the other foot joined him. He knew it was wrong, but in his mind, he is a young man and hey, why not try it?
(We only have about 4 ladders in the garage to use, but hey use the bucket.)
This will be us no doubt.
Rick: C'mon Margaret I'll hold you, you'll be fine.
Peg: Well it does look like fun, don't let go, Rick.
She loses her balance and begins to fall while he is still holding on to her which makes him stumble and they both break a hip.
Yeah, that's the shit we'd do together.
UPDATE: at 3:04 today I got this picture text to me.
Guess he made it to urgent care. 😊

Men.
My then 5 and 6 yr old gr-daughters told me what they knew about boys:
boys break things, boys are stupid, boys don't pay attention.
boys to men.
Hope yours has given in.
LOL! I hope he feels better soon! I am a wimp and go with the slightest pain! HA~!~!
I finally saw that movie over the weekend - AMAZING! Although I hate the ending..UGH~
I think I sobbed for 15 minutes~
Annster's Domain
Yeah, I've never figured out if I want to die alone or with an audience. "Here, hold my beer and watch this!"
Susan, that's about right.
Ann, you knew it was coming though right? From seeing the others? I kept waiting for it which made it worse the first time.
Jono - spoken like a man! Your man card is in good steed. :-)
It's written in the 'Handbook for the Male Species' that they have to be macho acting even when it goes against what's good for their stupid asses.
I loved that movie!
LOL Scott has something going on with his elbow. He self diagnosed himself to the dr so the dr says just get a strap :/ Which of course he loses somewhere in the house.
Hey, the bucket is right here, the ladder is waaaay over there. Bucket it is!
I admit that my default position is that whatever is wrong with me will go away without a doctor's visit, and I'm right about 97% of the time.
Eventually, I may seek medical help if conditions deteriorate.
And it pains me to admit it but most of that 3% is made up from the last 5 years.
It sucks when you stop being bulletproof.
You realize ibuprofen and Advil are both ibuprofen.
Mary I am sorry - I meant tylenol and ibuprophen. His dentist told him to take both at the same time for good pain relief and it works!
That is so true but what confuses me is that they can work with a limb hanging off but Lord help us if a man gets a cold:))
Patti, Rick is a hot mess with a cold too.
I guess that is why they gave us the ability to bear children.
Well, you both keep laughing but are you really gonna dress that funny in your old age?
Why Olga, what makes you think I don't dress like that now?
:-)
Hubby had a cold two weeks ago, and it seemed as if the world would end, and goodness, he would not stop bugging me(lol) Fast forward to this past week, when I'm sick, coughing like crazy, out of breath, along with a fever, and I'm still doing the same stuff I normally do. Ugh...!(lol) Like you, I prefer to watch movies from home because I can use my own bathroom, pause for a snack, or rewind if I miss something, and it's just more comfy. Bradley Cooper is just one of those people who was somehow blessed with everything. He's a hunk, he's fluent in French, can act, direct, sing, cook and goodness knows what else, and he really did an awesome job with Star is Born. I really enjoyed the movie and the song Shallow too. I wonder what other skills he plans to spring on us next. Hugs and hope Rick feels better soon. RO
Ro, hope you're feeling better now. amazing how our lives continue when I'll, but a cold will make a man drop and do nothing. And we're the weaker sex. HA!
