Your Last Meal

Rick and I have joked over the years what our last meal would be.
Then it became our last full day what would we eat?
It has never changed for us.

Then last week Rick was trying to make me laugh and he brought this up.
I laughed at his story and then thought, you know I'd have a whole different day plan of eating this time.

Now that I have had to be gluten free I would have a day of gluten.
I mean if this indeed was my last meal then I'm dying so I would not have to worry about all the illness and ugliness that would ensue. I could eat away.

Rick asked if I would still do that if I knew how sick I would be? Hell yes I would. Even if my doctor was yelling about how I am killing myself. Who cares? It's my last day, allow me to enjoy it and pig out.

So here is my last day.
Breakfast -  Frosted mini wheat cereal, and a raspberry pop tart on the side. Totally gluten and fattening. And boy do I miss my favorite cereal!

Lunch - pizza, lots of pizza, let me wear elastic waist pants kind of pizza day.
With a piece of cake and wine chaser. (okay wine I can have now but I still want it)

Snack - Pizzelles, or maybe a box of thin mints or Oreos, cake and danish and anything else I have longed for since my diagnosis.

Dinner - Gnocchi, great crusty Italian bread to dip in the EVOO with parm and red pepper flakes with an antipasto and wine.
Some type of cake, with a second helping of cake

I mean to tell you, I will feel miserable but I'm dying, right?
I told Rick this is my last day and all this eating won't make me feel like having sex and he laughed so loudly. He said we can have sex before I strap on my feed bag. Ah, smart boy.

I mean that is more food in a day than I eat in a week.
Let alone it's all gluten so by the time I got to lunch I would already be sick.  Ah, who cares? Bring on the gluten for the glutton!😒

What would your last day of food be?

French toast and bacon.

Pepperoni, olives and mushroom pizza and a Pepsi.

Cheese stuffed ravioli in sage brown butter sauce with roasted greeen beans.

In between....double stuffed Oreos, peanut butter M&Ms and movie pop corn.

Linda, good one! Except the pepsi. I don't care for pop but if I am hungover Pepsi would be my go-to - not coke.
My old list was so simple but I must say now living for so many years with no gluten I actually dream of foods I can't eat. :-)

A great steak, corn on the cob, apple sauce, bread pudding and ice cream.

Jean, for the whole day? Or just your last meal? :-)

Breakfast - Shrimp & Grits (especially a version I made last week - was like Shrimp Etoufee over very cheesy grits. Really, really good)

Lunch - Smoked Turkey Gumbo

Dinner - med. rare Prime Rib & a lobster tail, Mac & Cheese w/lots of Gruyere, collard greens w/bacon & garlic.

My spousal unit is on a 40 day controlled crash & burn again, so I won't be seeing food like that for quite a while. Dang it.

Brian, I thought you were from Rochester, this reads like the south. :-) I do not know what a crash and burn is unless its a 40 day diet of sorts. But you can still make these things.

You would ask this on the day I start my diet! I can't even think about it right now. But it would certainly be all the "bad" stuff.

Olga, I very much understand, a restricted diet is my life!

I don't even think about food until it's time to eat. What are we having for dinner tonight? Not a clue. It's way to early to think about it.

Mike, you're not right

Yeah, I do kinda like me some southern cooking. The dish we're most famous for up here is called a "Garbage Plate", first served up and trademarked by Nick Tahou's Hots. It's a plate of home fries and mac salad topped with your choice of 2 burgers or hots (red or white), minced onions and all the meaty hot sauce you want. I've lived here 59 years, STILL haven't had one. I prefer living.

I have a niece who would have pizza on her last day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. That is actually her regular diet, so she might have a chili cheese dog for one of the meals on her last day.

Mine:
Breakfast, Ham, 2 eggs over medium, hashbrowns with rosemary and a homemade biscuit. Tall cup of coffee with foamed half and half.

Lunch: Grilled cheese sandwich (I make them with longhorn cheddar, pepper jack, diced green chili between the slices of cheese). Iced glass of ice cold Pacifico Beer with 3 green olives soaking in the bottom)

Snack: Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia ice cream

Dinner: My grandson's Chicken Enchiladas, Chili Verde, Ceviche and a bottle of Trago Reposado Tequila on the side.

Looking forward to my last day!
