Early Christmas Toys

I saw this young girl riding this bike everywhere around the neighborhood while walking Izzy.
I thought I would catch a quick photo from across the street with my phone.
Her father was always walking behind her.
About the 3rd time I saw them I said, "Looks like Christmas came a bit early!"
He nodded and said, "Oh it sure did.... Her grandparents." as he rolled his eyes.
The 5th or 6th time I saw him he said he was hoping the battery would die soon.

It's a cool toy so I get why she won't stop riding it. I also understand why the father has to walk behind her and how annoying that would be after awhile. I am guessing she's about 5 yrs old.
It's a pretty cool gift and I am sure she'll be remembering this one for years to come.

What was your favorite Christmas gift in your lifetime thus far?
I was trying to think what my favorite Christmas gift was in my life.
I can remember the worst one but not my favorite.
I am scared what that might say about me. Let the analyzing begin.

My father got me a small black and white TV when I was 13.
I know it sounds like that is a really nice gift. He got it on Xmas eve.
It was not even wrapped. My mom had just died 2 1/2 months before.
I wasn't thrilled at the time. I was in fact mad at him.
My sister got a bike - again not wrapped or a bow. It was weird.
I loved having the TV in my room but it was such a horrible Christmas and the way he just gave it to me I remember it all so vividly.
Again can't remember where I leave any given thing on any given day but this I remember.

Do you remember your favorite Christmas gift ever?

One of my favorite gifts was a bookcase. I had been dying for one for the longest time. My mom picked well and it is just so pretty! I have since filled it up fast and it's my favorite piece of funiture in my room.

Worst gift, my friend when we were like 12 or 13 gave me this like gold star thing. I think it may have been a paperweight. lol. It was pointless and had no meaning to me at all. She thought it was the perfect gift and I remember she got SO MAD at me when I didn't flip over it. She wanted it for herself I think.

Hum... As a kid? For some reason I remember the FLATSY DOLL.... Wasn't my thing but someone gave it to me.... It was literally a flat doll. I couldn't decide if I liked it or if it was weird. A memory that just won't go away.

Oh Julie that is awful. Never had anything stolen...well as a kid!

Daphne it could be as a kid or an adult. I have never heard of a FLATSY doll but then I am an old fart and that could be why. But I don't think I would have liked it. I was never a doll gal anyway except Barbie. And we all know Barbie isn't flat...tee hee

I can't say which gifts were the best but I do remember many: my first Barbie doll and the handmade clothes my mother made for it, a wooden toy clock that I was playing with in bed and dropped it on my nose which caused my nose to bleed but I was afraid to tell my mom about it because I was suppose to be sleeping, some kind of shrinky dink thingy where you made the object out of some kind of gel then it harden and shrunk so you could paint them, weaving loom, typewriter that I
had to share with my brother (my parents refused to go over the money amount so we had to pull our money together in order to get one), oh the list could go on and on.
Though I have to tell you my best Christmas memory is how every Christmas eve, my brothers would wake me up so that I could sneak out to the living room to see what was under the tree and report back to them. They would tell me that I was the only one small enough to fit between the kitchen chairs legs that my parents put in the doorway but as adults they admitted that they sent me because they knew dad wouldn't get as mad at me ;o)

Mamma - I think it's pretty cool that you remember so much of your gifts. I remember nothing and I wonder why. I remember birthdays but not Xmas. I was the oldest so I did that to my younger sister what your brothers did to you.

Jay ah yes Cash. As we got older my Grandmother would give us a $100 bill and I thought that was pretty cool.

i can see why youd think that was the worst gift. its kind of odd really. did he think that would make up for your loss?

i TOTALLY know this isnt the same as losing your mom, but i remember when i was five my dad gave away my pet bunny. to "make up for it" he took me to the grocery store and had me pick out a stuffed animal. he didnt get how it wasnt the same and how that stuffed animal just made me sad.

My most favorite Christmas gift wasn't even mine, but all 7 of us (including my brothers) loved it and played with it for years. One Christmas my Dad made my little sister a very basic dolls house. It didn't even have interior doors between the rooms. Oh how we ALL loved that dolls house! We'd spend HOURS and HOURS playing with it. As we got older it became a hang out pad for Barbies and their boyfriends (AKA The Six Million Dollar Man action man, The Lone Ranger and Tonto dolls and the Evel Kenievel doll, who also used to dress up as ABBA and perform concerts from the doll house. Even thinking back to that doll house just brings a smile to my face. Believe me, it wasn't fancy by a long shot, but made with a lot of love and care.
