Yeah! That's Over.

Well, that's over.

If I am being honest with you, the Winter Olympics are not usually my preference. 

I prefer the Summer Olympics.  I watched hockey, men's and women's, ice skating, and curling. I know, I know, you're saying, CURLING?

I've mentioned before that when I was growing up, cable was a much smaller concept than today.  We didn't have a lot of channels, but we had a lot of Canadian TV.  After dinner, instead of Jeopardy, we watched curling. 

Jeopardy was on during the day back in those days. So after dinner at 7 or 7:30p there was curling. My Italian father would say it was similar to bocce on ice. It's not, but I got the correlation.  So unlike most of my peers, I know about curling, and I find it funny how much shit I get about it.

We also watched a bowling show on Canadian TV. I think it was duck bowling not sure. As a kid, I thought it was funny because the pins were little.

When I was home from school, I would watch a game show that was like Hangman.  That is where I learned that the letter Z(ee) was pronounced Zed in Canada. I was very young, and I remember asking my mother why they kept saying Zed. Of course, at age 9 or 10, I was clueless. 

There were a lot of TV programs in the 70s that I saw on cable that I now know were all Canadian. By the 80s, we had more options, and the Canadian channels seemed to disappear slowly. :-(

I also grew up with a minor league (is that what they are called?) hockey team.

They were called the Erie Blades. 

Today, The Erie Otters are the team in my hometown, and they are part of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) 

Back in the 70s, the Erie Blades played at the Erie County Fieldhouse.

I had an Uncle, well, a friend of the family, actually, that we called Uncle.

This Uncle worked at the Erie County Fieldhouse. I never knew what he did because I was a self- consumed kid, and I never asked. But we got tickets to hockey games, tickets to concerts that were there, and he was always fixing me up with toothless Canadian Hockey Players.  That is funny to me. 

One weekend, he had a bunch of players over to his house. There was also a skating event at the Fieldhouse. Those skaters were some of my favorite ice skaters at the time. I just saw the ice skating revue, and I was thrilledthat  I could meet some of them.

My uncle called me and asked if Sue (my pretty blonde roommate) wanted to come over for a party. Hockey people and ice skaters, etc., would be there. So, of course, Sue and I go because it's boys.  We are 19, 20-ish at best.  We knew he was whoring us out, so to speak. He always wanted me to bring the girlfriends. Lots of hockey players, lots of girls.

In retrospect, it was all so innocent, being at my uncle's house and all. There was food and booze for those allowed to drink. He would never let me leave with them, but they could ask for my number. The rules to me were funny, but at that age, I didn't care; I was up for the fun and the boys.

Oh, and it was fun. I was thrilled to be meeting Tai Babilonia.

I went up to her, outstretched my hand, and told her that it was such a thrill to meet her and that I loved watching her and Randy skate.  

Her response? "Of course you do."  

She then, with a fake smile, turned and walked away. 

My hand was extended in the air like a fool, just hanging there.  

From then on, I no longer cared for the bitch.  ha ha

In all seriousness, I read that she attempted suicide and was addicted to drugs etc. She got herself clean, but maybe that was why she was such a bitch to me. Or I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt. Either way, it was a lesson I had to learn. Your heroes are just people, and they may not be your heroes after you meet them.

So that is why I know and enjoy hockey.  Have I gone to a Raleigh Hurricanes hockey game?  No, I have not.  Rick can't go due to his inability to walk far, and those steps so we only watch on TV. :-(  

Last night, we were tired of the Olympics when we settled in to watch some TV.

We chose a movie that was so awful, we couldn't understand why it was made.

It was getting these great comments and great reviews. 

Rick and I kept saying, "What the hell is she doing?" 

"Why don't they show the kid?"  "Where is the spouse?" "Why is she leaving her alone in a hotel room?" 

We talked through most of the movie. Then Rick said, "I've had enough, I don't give a shit if she drowns right now"  (she was in the ocean acting bizarre)

So we stopped watching it.

But at 3am, when I am awake, I was curious to see how it ended. It didn't really, it was like it's still going on, but I can't see it. It was the weirdest damn movie I have ever seen. It is called, "If I Had Legs, I'd Kick You." 

Makes it sound like it's interesting, doesn't it?  More like if you take hallucinogensics you'll be right at home with this damn movie to me. 

I get she was a stressed mom, but this was beyond that to me. It was her point of view, however distorted, and that disturbed me and made me not want to root for her. She was careless to say the very least.

Have any of you watched this and liked it?  Did you get it? What was that ending?

Is the kid healed? Does she have her therapist license revoked because she should? Did that baby's mother ever get her kid back? Did she imagine it all?
